I love Soarin but I have 2 gripes with it. It should be in digital already! The picture needs to be clean and crisp which it clearly isnt. That alone would make the ride so much better. Also, couldn't they have spaced out the ride vehicles better so I dont have to see peoples feet hanging down above me? That takes me out of the fantasy a bit and forces me to concentrate on trying to immerse myself back into it again.
I have to say it is the only ride that I have ever been on where everyone clapped at the end of it (besides a real life plane ride, but we are clapping because we are thankful to be alive).

Why couldn't it eventually be built in China? Avatar was a huge hit there (Google "Avatar box office hit in China"), and we know the plan has been to add Pandora at other Disney parks around the world.

Anything can happen. But considering the problems getting this project just to this point, and knowing some of what is already headed to SDL and HKDL, I see no way that will wind up there. Disney is much more interested in building up its own (Disney, Pixar, Marvel) brands over there.

Just like the original FLE plans, right? They were pulled, too, even though once it's online it can't be deleted. But this way it makes the leak seem less intentional and builds hype at the same time.
Did the originals actually make it online I know the potter 2.0 did but I didn't know FLE did

I'm not 100% sure about this. I know Disney like to leak things, but having reviewed every inch of these drawings and all of the narratives, they did a remarkable job of disguising the identity of the end product. There's not one word in any of these documents that would lead anyone to firmly say these are for Avatar. They depict a ride facility and descriptions of other components of a new land, but the theme could be anything - just re-purpose the drawings and apply a completely different theme/franchise/story.

I think these were really meant to stay fairly confidential. They had to take the risk of giving them to hand selected contractors so they could get real life budget numbers, but I bet those contractors signed some serious confidentiality statements too.

First, thanks for the email. I've had 'net issues all day and mail is coming in up to seven hours late, so just got yours. Will shoot you a response tomorrow when I should be working (but hey, we have a tropical storm warning and it's only the week before Halloween!)

You brought up a GREAT point and one that I wish I had remembered to put in the OP. ... The work absolutely is vague, on purpose, and I suppose if things didn't work out for Pandora: Land of the Giant Blue Alien Sex Kittens that Disney could use that showbuilding and attraction space for others with different themes. Hell, only on two of dozens of pages I have is DAK mentioned, although it is prominent so it's safe to say where the project is going. In other words, they ain't hiding much.

BUT ... well, you know with my posts there will always be at least ... I do disagree with you saying these were meant to be confidential. Totally disagree. They were meant to be leaked. No doubt in my mind besides, since Avatar isn't on them maybe Disney is seeking contracts for Beastly Kingdom (yeah, I spell it this way because on many original plans that was how it was known, not Kingdomme), maybe the Soarin-type-simulator is the new Dragon's Challenge? Maybe the boat ride is an updated Fantasia boat ride? ... Or maybe they just wanted to pretend it was all top secret, yet let it be leaked so far and wide at a curious time, hence all the comments about not to base anything on the 'generic models' as well as the comments on the 'theming to be determined' ... Disney is keeping this as quiet as they did the BLT (even if they're using a few of the same contractors for this too). ... Of course while this gets leaked, they can work on the Studios makeover under more secrecy because between F-land and this, no one will look in that direction.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I will never set foot in Avatarland.

I HATE Avatar. So the way I will take in this land is to ignore the film(s) and just pretend its a made up Disney themed area. I'm sure they wont force us to watch a 3hr movie... So I will be able to accept each ride as a new Disney idea.

for anyone else who hates Avatar I sugest the same for you.

Some have suggested that the Soarin' ride is or might be similar to the Iron Man ride set for DL. Can anyone point me to rumors about that ride? What kind of Tech or ride mechanics are we talking about?

Similar in some ways, VERY, VERY different likely in end product.

And, no, it isn't coming here and Disney isn't gonna force UNI to sell its rights only for them to pick up DC rights and why do I just feel like beating up fanbois today?

Oh wait... No I won't. Enjoy the blogs where information is posted days late after it's posted here or the information comes directly from the spin doctors in the PR department...we know how reliable that stuff is.

I know, it's pretty comical. I cannot recall many instances (I'm sure there were a few, but I actually cannot recall any off hand) where I saw info on another site before it had been discussed here in one way or another.

Too funny. :)

or even better.....Soarin through the Universe.

That would be MUCH more interesting. Problem is, it would show up the "let's put people in a coffin and spin them around showing them a badly acted video on a little tiny screen" ride on the other side of the park.

Personally I'm not particularly a fan of Soarin', and when I opined long ago I thought any Pandora attraction would be Soarin' 2.0 it wasn't a complement, but I'd be all for them building an identical theater over at Mission: Space if they would do that.
