I like it, but it's almost identical to Hollywood Studios at WDW. Would have been nice to have something a little more unique. But hey... I'm not complaining! I'm very excited to see this park again next summer after all construction has been completed.

MousePlanet shared an update today regarding the construction schedule for BVS:

The new DCA entrance gates will open tomorrow, marking the countdown to the big remodel of the main entrance of that park.

Tonight, Gate 14, the gate next to Soarin' Over California, will be used as an exit for guests leaving the park after 10pm. This is to allow construction workers to remove the turnstiles for the old main entrance gate structure.

Starting tomorrow, guests will use the new main entrance gates to enter DCA, but will still pass through the old gate structure to enter the park. This will be the entry method through the end of August, when the new temporary entrance opens.

By Labor Day, expect the temporary entrance to be in use while the Buena Vista Street project kicks into high gear.

As part of this main entrance makeover, the Disneyland Monorail will be on a reduced operating schedule.

Why are they copying the entrance to DHS at DCA?

I understand that they are both replicas of the Pan-Pacific Auditorium...but you would think they could pick something that hadn't already been used.

It still makes me think of Xanadu!

A new entry at the Disney Parks Blog, including news about the Golden Gate Bridge:

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...en-at-disney-california-adventure-park-today/

Inspired by the iconic Pan Pacific Auditorium, the turnstiles will set the stage for the new Disney California Adventure park entrance. Buena Vista Street will transport guests to Los Angeles as Walt Disney found it when he first arrived in California, with buildings inspired by structures that existed during the 1920s and ‘30s – including the Pan Pacific Auditorium. A landmark structure in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, the auditorium was the premiere location for indoor public events until it closed after almost 40 years in 1972.

[...]

As Buena Vista Street continues to take shape at Disney California Adventure park, there are more exciting transformations that will be taking place. On Sunday, the Golden Gate Bridge, which guests now pass underneath when entering the park, will begin to make way for a re-creation of the historic Glendale-Hyperion Bridge. We’ll have more details on this project next week on the Disney Parks Blog, so be sure to check back!

The new temporary path way behind Soarin' is making more progress. This will be the walkway in and out of DCA while the Buena Vista Street project kicks up speed.

You can see the wall that has been removed to help make the access possible, as well as the old turn stiles(west side) have been removed(east side ones are still currently standing)

nemofinder22, as always, thank you for keeping us all updated with the hits and highlights from the various DCA construction photo blogs out there. What a service to humanity you provide (or at least the part of humanity that are Disneyland fans!)

But what the heck is this?!? There's a CM inside the cab of the California Zephyr streamliner! And he's smilin' and wavin' like he's pulling in to the station with the latest batch of kinfolk and supplies from Chicago!

The Condor Flats sign has been behind tarps for a week or so now.

I have never seen a CM climb up in there before. I never even knew it was a possibility. It looks like he's wearing the Bakersfield Bakery CM uniform, which is themed to a train engineer since it's inside the train, so it works.

How funny! Maybe the managers are letting the CM's climb up in there and wave at folks as a going away stunt for the train and the bakery that sits inside the first car?

Construction work has begun for the new temporary entrance into the park. During construction for Buena Vista St, guests will enter the park through the new turnstiles and will then take a detour behind the Soarin' building.

Behind the walls, construction crews are clearing the way for the new entrance path. New lighting is being added to get this backstage area ready for guest use

After taking the backstage detour behind the Soarin' building, guests will enter the park through this area in Condor Flats:

Here's a quick graphic I put together which shows the general layout of the new temporary entrance. The red arrows indicate the path guests will take to enter the park
