For those outside of California who may have missed this little bit of news last week, the old CALIFORNIA letters that sat in front of DCA's main entry from 2001 to 2011 have found a new home. Disney just donated them to the State Fair!

They are being refurbished and shipped up to Sacramento to sit outside a newly remodelled entrance at the California Exposition Center. The Cal Expo Center is our State Fairgrounds where the California State Fair is held every July at the state capital of Sacramento.

Here's what the new entrance to the California State Fair at the Cal Expo Center will look like once DCA's old letters are installed there later this year...

A little bit of Disneyland history gets shipped up to Northern California!

^ And that's not the only piece of DCA 1.0 that will be reused, here's a list of where the other items will end up:

The cab of the California Zephyr train that was formerly the home of Bur-r-r Bank Ice Cream and Bakers Field Bakery was donated to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, Calif.

The sun icon that welcomed visitors to Sunshine Plaza was donated to the City of Anaheim for future use.

The giant toy train from EnginEARS Toys will be donated to Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s) for future use.

Postcards and displays from the Greetings From California store at the main entrance of Disney California Adventure park were donated to many Southern California nonprofit organizations and educational facilities, including the Boys & Girls Club of Tustin, the Anaheim Family YMCA, the Child Abuse Services Team office in Orange, the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach, and Betsy Ross and Orange Grove elementary schools in Anaheim.

Signs and character displays from Greetings From California were donated to Pretend City in Irvine.

The Reboundo Beach surfboard basketball game was donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove.

Benches from throughout Disney California Adventure park were donated to the City of Anaheim for use in public spaces.

Al Lutz has an update today, in it you can find a description of the Carthay's interior (it seems like this is the one time regular guests will get better treatment than the club 33 folks!)

But just wait until the general public gets a look at the lavish décor of the Carthay’s public lounge and dining rooms. It’s going to be a bit hard to explain to the Club 33 crowd that their private lounge has a far more casual and downscale feel to it, while the general public gets the ultra-luxe treatment in the swanky interiors swathed in silk brocade and ankle-deep carpeting at both the downstairs lounge and upstairs dining room. The Snow White mural on the vaulted ceiling of the main dining room in particular is one of those jaw-dropping moments as patrons enter the main dining room.

Celebrating "Opening night at the movies" during the Golden Age of Hollywood, Carthay Circle Theatre is a spectacular new landmark at Disney California Adventure park that will open officially on June 15th. Disney has released a series of new photos showcasing the beautiful interiors of both the Restaurant area upstairs and the Lounge area downstairs.

The historic design includes the Carthay Circle Restaurant upstairs with a menu created by award-winning Executive Chef Andrew Sutton. A relaxing a lounge downstairs offers a look at the story of Disney movie-making through the years. The interiors evoke the grand elegance of a classic movie premiere and historic photographs and artifacts create a sense of place and tell the story of the Walt Disney Studios.

Definitely stunning! So gorgeous. I wouldn't feel comfortable walking into Carthay with jeans and a regular shirt on.

I'm gonna check out those other photos now, I don't think I saw the mural.

you can see it in the photo I posted, the vaulted ceiling has a large painted mural on it :) I expect to see hidden tributes to Snow White here and there hidden throughout the restaurant.

Oh my goodness, I didn't know the ceiling was the mural! WOW. Unbelievable. I am in love. Carthay is like the Snow White Castle Disneyland was supposed to get but never did. Now we can kind of have both Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

I can't wait to find the photos that pay tribute to the film. It'll be like a treasure hunt looking for everything.

No kidding!!! Is this really a restaurant inside the New DCA??? And where the old sun hubcap and a churro cart used to be???

Al Lutz said this would be a "jaw dropping" dining room to walk into in his last update, but he wasn't kidding!

I can't even believe it. The change this area of DCA has seen in the last three years is nothing short of amazing. Truly, truly amazing.
