Buena Vista Street (2012)

Meanwhile, back on Buena Vista Street...

Dateline Disneyland has some great pictures of the Carthay Circle area at night. They hadn't turned on the exterior tower lighting when these were taken Friday (although Twitter is saying that happened tonight), but on Friday the evening sky provided a nice backdrop with just basic street lighting illuminating the theater and tower. Nice!

The previous mall I'd mentioned - CityPlace in West Palm Beach, FL - puts on a lovely musical fountain show every 90 minutes.

So about the only thing most of these places are missing is a freakin' trolley. I don't think that's something that puts the shopping centers here in Southern California over everyone else.

On topic... Carthay Circle looks spectacular at night! Can't wait to see it from the actual BVS.

Carthay looks even better at night. I hope the marquee and the top part of the building will light up too.

It will be, here's a photo from last night of the cupola all lit up:

They are still testing/adjusting all the light. When it opens the theatre is also expected to have big premiere lights atop the building. Should look nice!

Here's a great little video of the fountain in action:

Well. Doesn't that look fun. Does the fountain take requests? I'm a big Neil Diamond fan. :D

By "premiere lights" on top of the Carthay, I hope we're talking about stereotypical Hollywood searchlights scanning the sky. That would look so neat!

I simply can not wait for Buena Vista Street to open! I. Can. Not. Wait!

From Dateline Disneyland and the window of a speeding Disneyland monorail train, more new pictures from atop the Hyperion Bridge...

It looks like all the pavement and sidewalks are now in. And it's so nice to see DCA has a proper American flag pole now, to proudly fly Old Glory and conduct late afternoon Flag Retreat ceremonies. The team that left that important detail out of DCA 1.0 should be sent before a House Subcommittee on Un-American Activities, in my opinion.

And some details of new signage going up on the sides of the Starbucks building...

Ha! :ROFLOL: Nice comparison. Never thought about it like that.

In defense of my beloved East Coast, there are plenty of Grove/Americana-like shopping/dining/entertainment districts over there…

What has been revealed so far looks just fantastic!

From the Disney Food Blog some of the treats that will be at Clarabelles and Trolley Treats
http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2012/...eats-clarabelles-ice-cream-opening-june-15th/

Clarabelle’s
Clarabelle’s will serve hand scooped ice cream as well as a new to the resort item; chocolate or vanilla bean hand dipped ice cream bars with various topping choices that include sprinkles, chocolate pearls, nuts, and drum roll please…. POP ROCKS!

Trolley Treats
Trolley Treats will be a one stop sweet shop offering all things yummy. There will be a candy kitchen on location, which is a first for DCA; and some specialty items are already in the making.

In addition to the classic sweets that are currently offered at Candy Palace, they will also be making signature fresh-made hand pulled taffy and a variety of homemade marshmallows!

See the link for some photos.

Great to see DCA get its own candy kitchen. The Goofy's Candy Co. taffy has always been gross so hopefully an in park made one will be good although Candy Palace's in house made items have never disappointed. A taffy kitchen also seems like a perfect fit for Paradise Pier one day perhaps...

I do wish Pooh's Conner and Marceline's would be more similar to Candy Palace and now Trolley Treats with a full fledged candy kitchen there's only so many items you can dip in chocolate.

The news just keeps getting better and better. The ice cream and the sweets so terrifically yummy, I can't wait.

Got to check out Carthay's exterior and the fountain in person yesterday. Looks phenomenal!

They also played around with the signage, as you can see. I'm sure it'll always be changing.

Got a lunch ressie to eat in the restaurant on July 21st - can't wait. :D
