Bring back Horizons

Does anyone have any links to nostalgic horizons info?

There are YouTube videos posted where people had gone through with their video cameras. Check out the thread on the Popular Mechanics article - one of those YT videos is on there. I watched it last night - it wasn't the same, but it was nice to see!

Thoughts after and during both rides

Horizons- Wow that was a sick ride and the artwork and the diagrams were amazing. Wow look at that, Thats a beautyful building I need a picture of this whle area.

Mission Space- Wow I wasted my time on a line just to go on some cheasey simulator, Now I feel sick just for that simulator, I am to sick my epcot day is ruines, it was ok, I feel sick I have to call it a day, I think I stepped in vomit, i think I just sat in it, (Classic) I hope noone died in this seat, Star tours is better, why bother or I like horizons better
I suppose you are talking about the ride that's the first of it's kind, the most expensive in FW, and runs on a highly advanced computer system? Yeah...Cheesy.
Could the money been used for Horizons? Sure. But this is what Compaq wanted.:(

Compaq cant even make a computer and thats what they specialise in.
Compaq is HP now. Even this Mac Fanboi will tell you that HP can make a pretty good computer.:lol:

Great avatar.:lookaroun:lol:

Changed it, but I'll post it here! :D

I'm tired of people complaining that M:S replaced Horizons. If M:S would've been put between The Land and The Living Seas (where I want it to be), Horizons would be rotting just like WoL.

:D

OR...It would have gotten a separate sponsor and Horizons would be on Version 2 or 3 by now.

I think people would enjoy M:S more if it did not replace Horizons. It just kind of puts the ride at a disadvantage when it replaces something that was so original, inspiring, and even re-ridable.

Then again, maybe M:S isn't really that great even on its own. Honestly, I have visited the parks probably twice a month for the past five years, and have not riden M:S in the last two. I have to say I ride that ride less than any other ride in WDW, and it does not make me sick.

I know others love it, but it suprises me that Disney can spend $150 million on an E-ticket that I dont get the urge to ride...ever. If Horizons was still around or a 2.0 version was built, I probably would not ride it on every visit, but I would certainly ride it much much much more often than M:S.

All being said, with all the shows on television that reflect the future as armageddon, and a world after humans. It sure would be nice to view something positive that makes one excited about our future. Growing up these days with all the bad news and predictions of end times, it sure would be refreshing, and a totally different view than what the media is currently projecting. I think as a race we need these little inspirations. imho of course.

Thats good I like HP my school has been using them since the 90s and there still worlikg like new. I do like mac windows always freeses up and you always have to upgrade something everytime you touch the on button mac does it for you I think I am going to try linuk on my Gateway. I know mishion space is expencive but the ride itself is chrasey I rather be on a rollercoaster or Horizons. They should of horizons and made a extenchion egzibit in the building known as mishion space. It would fit it could be a simulatio for public space travel and that could of been part of horizons. kind of like how imagination has all those labs after the ride and not just mission space they could of had underwater to.

And we'd have to thank Jules Verne for inventing the future.
:hurl:

 In a way he advanced technology and added to the future.

My own problem with M:S is not because it replaced Horizons (which I don't remember at all) but the fact that it's execution is not very impressive. I look at UoE's traveling theater, Test Track's high speed vehicles, those carts from Imagination, then I look at M:S simulator and think, why is this the pavilion's man attraction. If it was like Body Wars, where it was part of a selection and didn't take up any space then I would be happy. It doesn't need to be what it is. Personally, I don't think Disney should bring back Horizons but instead demolish M:S and rebuild the space pavilion with the current ride being among the attractions in it.

Wait...the most expensive and unique ride technology in WDW is not as impressive as a car rolling on a track? Also, since when did Body Wars not take up space?

I don't get this aspect of your opinion. How is it that you do not think that a multi million dollar apparatus, that creates the various effects of flying, floating, G forces, and other aspects, while showing a parallax video of a voyage to Mars that is different for each rider, is not impressive.

Meanwhile JII's spinning cars are?:lookaroun:lol:

Body Wars is in a seperate building. Look at Wol. They are able to fit a group of simulators, a large theater, and a truckload of other junk inside. All Mission Space has is 4 simulators and a pretty cool post show. If Disney built a larger pavilion we could get way more than what we have now.

Like Hitler said in that funny vid posted a while back, it's like sitting in a cramped Port-A-John. I'm really not impressed. As for UoE's cars, they are powered by solar energy and run on a track smaller than Miley Cyrus's acting skills. I am not at all amazed by a spinning HP commercial.

JII's cars are admittedly not impressive but I find them far more comfortable than that teeny space. Also, I always have wondered how in the world are extra large guests able to fit comfortably inside? I'm very skinny and I feel like the console is too close. It might just be perception though....

Umm...no. Body Wars structure is attached to WoL. Sorry. I'm not saying that I wish M:S had a pavilion in the style of WoL, because that would've been nice.

UOE doesn't use solar power.

Also, I'm not a small guy (not really large either), but I find M:S to have plenty of room inside.

Umm....WoL was in big building. There was the main area, under the dome and another area tucked away in the back, away from the dome. They were never separate. Martin mentions this in his Tribute.

"Like Hitler said". Oooh. That's credible. I know what you mean, though, that silly video. Yeah, they are claustrophobic, and yeah, that sucks. However, the ends justify the means. How else would you be able to feel the unique sense of flight on the "HP Commercial".

On that note... honestly, HP's sponsorship could have been a ton more intrusive. I don't even think they are announced over the loud speaker. I think you just see the logo.

And UoE no longer runs on solar panels....Those are broken.

JII? Those are the same cars from 1983...They just spin now. And there is less of them. I'm 6'3 and I find them very comfy.

UOE uses very little, if any, solar power anymore.

I know Body Wars is connected. I just meant that it isn't in the dome.

That's a shame, UoE must have a large energy bill due to everything.

I have no idea why I feel M:S is so cramped. It's not claustrophobia though.

1. Read above.

2. It's not credible but that is the exact feeling I get when riding.

3.I guess you are right. The sponsorship could have been along the lines of a certain cheesy Kodak commercial we all love.

4. I wonder why they don't just fix them. Oh well, maybe next refurb.

5. I am 5'11 and I don't feel like I have little leg room, just that the console is very close. Once again, I am skinny so it could just be mental.

Part of it is in the dome...Or was.

Why don't they fix them?:rolleyes::lol: $$$

Yeah, the queue. At least I didn't complain that M:S's queue took up space.:)
Well, now that I think of it......:lookaroun

$$$ That's Disney management for you. I think they would save more if they just converted the entire parking lot into a large solar panel. Imagine the power considering the sun looks right at that spot.
