Well it matters if ESPN could be involved, NBC/Comcast has the rights in America for the Olympic tv rights.
Only through 2012. ESPN is OPENLY bidding on the 2016 Games.

Interesting Quote From the article (this is from Feb. 2010)
Disney, the world’s largest media company, could use the Olympics to promote its global theme park business, Pilson said.

We'll know who gets it in June.

Also, Comcast may not be 'All in' anymore since the OIC put the hammer down on a proposed 'Olympics Channel'.

Also since we were talking about rides a few posts back, what if instead they go with just carnival games/rides? im thinking chesterhesters here and thats not what I want to be thinking.
I'd be just fine with a recreation of this as the backdrop and a ride (or one of many).

They project things on to the center screen, by the way.

True, unless maybe its towards the back of the plot and in a thick jungle like atmosphere, or in a mountain of some kind? I really need to read up on Brazil's features and scapes.

Someday I'll take the time to figure out how to post images. This has always been one of my favorite features of Brazil:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugarloaf_Mountain_(Brazil)

Sugarloaf is one of the most recognizable natural features of the country. The northern half of the country is covered in Amazonian rain forest. I can see some sort of lush tropical environment with their flair for loud architecture thrown in.

I'm just pointing out some possibilities. It is a wonderfully rich country from environments, vistas, and cultures.

I know it takes years for a project to go from concept to "build" - but - with all the Fantasyland expansion going on now is it reasonable that TDO would give the full speed ahead on another large project? I guess it would depend on what support Brazil is willing to offer, and there, I've answered my own question. Just thinking outloud, sorry!

I'm sure Disney is just like any other company from a project approval standpoint... money talks. If someone else is willing to foot some, or all of the bill I bet the project gets fast tracked and we will see it sooner rather than later. The company sponsoring the project would definitely want it that way.

Outstanding landmark. There's also the spectacular Iguazu Falls, which many people know from the end of Crystal Skull.

Kinda hard to recreate either of these, but hey.

I have been to both. And I'd expect nothing less from Disney even at Epcot. I feel it's as good a similarity as Le Cellier is to a real steak house. Our last trip I thought most of our dining experiences were meh at best.

'Ohana is as good a comparison to Fogo as most TS locations are to their public counterpart at this point.

Except that if Fogo was in WS, the company would not want a lesser version with their name on it.

Again, Ohana is not close to being a good comparison to Fogo because their menu is different along with being a different cuisine.

I find it ironic that the two things that come to most people's minds about Brazil is the rainforest and the steakhouse... And the rainforest they love it being cleared for the meat they love to graze on. Granted, I'm sure tht Fogo doesn't use Brazilian beef but still...

I would love to see a water cruise through Brazil, passing through the rainforest and by the falls. Beautiful! Nothing crazy, just throw some neat jaguar and monkey AAs and the maybe a Carnival scene? Toned down of course for Disney. Lol.

I don't care what country they add as long as it has a ride. Brazil could have some sort of rainforest adventure.
I heard it's going to be a dark ride, very similar to Mr Toad except, well I'll let captainkidd cover it:
It's just like being there with a large Brazilian Tour Group. A bunch people in yellow shirts with backpacks following someone with a flag, while chanting and singing Brazilian Top 40 at the top of their lungs.
Well, actually the ride vehicle will have a flag mounted on it and it will be a train along the lines of BTM. It weaves in and out of queue lines among other surprises!

I would like to thank captainkidd for his unknowing contribution to this thread. :D

Well that could be interesting. If ABC/ESPN's bid was accepted, for the next 4 Olympics (2014, 2016, 2018, 2020), a Brazilian would provide Disney to have pavilions for 2 or 3 host countries of the next 4 Olympics. EPCOT could be very busy with different events themed towards the Olympics with some kind of platform at the host pavilion.

I will believe it when Disney confirms it. I have lost count of the number of times that a newspaper article has come out claiming this or that only to find out that a journalist has read a rumor on a discussion forum and taken it for fact.

I agree....I'm still waiting for the supposedly confirmed Spain pavilion.

This is serious news, guys! This is the biggest newspaper in Brazil!

I'm so excited!! I actually thinks this might happen! It's going to be AWESOME!

As a brazilian fan, I'm thrilled to see that we are getting some love from Disney despite of the bad reputation of the tour groups.

I know we have all kinds of people on this forum and some come be really rude when they see the words Disney+Brazil on the same sentence, but I know the majority here will be happy if this turns out to be true!
