Brazil Pavilion in Epcot?

Go Costa Rica!

I for one totally agree with FLDIS86:sohappy:! They should totally add Costa Rica back to the list. The rain forests in Costa Rica are amazing and there's nothing like it in the world. It has more species of mammals and birds than the continental US and Canada combined. Plus it would be interesting to see how such a small country about the size of west Virginia could have a huge impact in Epcot. Oh yea the food is amazing. Coffee! Don't even get me started!

And to add about the Brazilian tour groups; they are disrespectful and rude but it shouldn't mean it would be cool to see Brazil in Epcot. I just don't think that just because a lot of Brazilians go there, we should add Brazil as one of the countries in Epcot.

Man, am I late to this party...

This please:

Disney already has this mostly, it's called 'Ohana. While not thematically the same, it is pretty much the concept.

For the rest of the world Brazil means one thing......

Football!

I can see the interactive, 360-degree/3-D attraction now... FIFA '13.

Remember back when I threatened to call "shenanigans" on this whole deal...

Nevermind....:D

Disclaimer: Not saying it is going to happen. Just saying that enough new information has come to light to confirm that there is such a potential project at some form of development. May never go anywhere beyond blue sky and some meetings with some Brazillian folks.

This is true. Never does a Disney attraction approach the rumors. Even the very publicaly and loudly touted Fantasyland expansion has shifted from what it was. And, how many countries (already mentioned here) have "come" before Brazil? Some of which were publically advertised by Disney. If we'd gotten them, there wouldn't be a plot for Brazil now. Denmark, Switzerland, India, Costa Rica, Africa, etc... I'll believe it when the ladder shows up.

the us is the centerpiece, but also the place with the worst food.

To be fair, what would you have represent America at the pavilion? A McDonald's or 50's Prime Time Cafe? I wonder if a themed table service option in America would go over considering you can get that everywhere else outside of World Showcase. Other than DDP and free dining making every restaurant a must-do of course.

Anyway... sounds good but, again, call me up when the ladder shows up behind the scrim.

Costa Rica should be put back into the running. There is so much culture and nature to include in the pavilion. There could even be an indoor zip line that glides through the jungle with a waterfall and a water ride/boat ride. Costa Rica's rain forest are some of the greatest in the world. Plus who doesn't love Gallo Pinto?? PURA VIDA!!

A couple of comments:

1. I have never encountered a "rude" tour group like you claim. All the groups I have come across are rowdy, but happy...perhaps you all are just way to cynical. I suppose you would rather pick on others rather than have a good time yourself.

2. As I stated before, they wouldn't put a country in based on a lot of visitation from that country, a country would be put on based on the potential of visitation TO that country.

3. Even if you can't stand a particular tour group, they bring valuable money with them, providing the continuing ability for future expansion.

Then consider yourself very lucky, because they can and frequently are the opposite, although for all the bad press they get they are no where near as bad as the Pop Warner Brats.

I would love to see Brazil added to the WS. After watching 'Walt and El Grupo' I have a better understanding of the connection between Brazil and Disney ... it was very entertaining.

Ha ha, thats good. Have you been to Fogo? Ohana is about the same as fogo as red lobster is to ruth chris. Yes both places are all you can eat, but Fogo offers 15 different cuts of meats, ohana has 3 and shrimp.

Well the best way to have a TS at AA would be to have different items that are unique to the regions of our country. Our country has a vast cuisine, and that is what should be shone instead of amusement park fast food.

Which pad is everyone thinking for the location of the "possible" Brazil?

That really depends on the size of the pavilion. Some of those open plots are really small and would be better to expand an existing pavilion. I think if they do it they should do it right. I'd say either between Italy and Germany or between France and Morocco. Maybe the latter more.

On a side note, I remember a couple years back there was a rumor (I think it was more solid than a rumor, though) that WS was going to get an overhaul/refurb. Maybe this is part of that?

We've talked about this before and someone brought up a table service with the tastes of America... soul food, barbecue, Mid-Atlantic seafood, New England seafood, Tex-Mex, steakhouse, the fresh, organic stuff going on in the West Coast... to name a few. Dress it up fancy and voilà! (although that's French...)

You can travel across the U.S. in one evening. :)

Now, to everyone mentioning the tour groups... I'm pretty sure that's NOT why a Brazilian pavilion (I like the sound of that) is being considered. Brazil is a part of a continent that is not represented, it has a vibrant culture that is not similar to any of the other countries represented (although that's not the strongest point), and it's becoming a hot destination for tourism from what I can tell based on the expanded number of flights from the U.S. to Brazil.

In my experience the tour groups haven't been rude, they've just been enormous. I saw a tour group (I believe from Argentina) go 150 deep in the Big Thunder Mountain fastpass line. I found that to be excessive.

As for this rumor, is there a time frame and a yes/no on an attraction.

Actually even though its hard to believe at times by the way some of the current pavilions are, each plot is the same size. 3 acres each. Norway looks like one of the biggest because of its castle like fortress and of course they used up their entire plot from the getgo basically, while others still have expansion room. Im picturing Brazil on the first of the two plots next to Germany right along the canal between that and China,,,,,or over between France and Morocco, its time for that area to fill in a bit.

Any word on what phase we are in; first negotiations (no plans at all yet), conceptual planning (some plans and some budgets but no real construction documents), or pretty fairly fleshed out concept with good documents awaiting budget approval?

I know I threw my hand into one of those threads, what one was it?

Eddie's. You got me thinking about a restaurant with cuisine from all across the U.S. I really think it would work.

Okay, I was wondering because my signature is many threads now.

I really think that it will be a hit, there is just so much that they can work with that showcases how unique we are in our cuisine.

I know that there was another thread about what celeb chef you would like to see brought to disney, a la Cat Cora. I picked Richard Blais because I know that he could do justice for us with a sandwich shop in front of AA. Also, hopefully they could do regional breakfast sandwiches; I would love to have a pork roll or scrapple sandwich while at wdw.

A combiation of the first two. I consider it the proposal phase.
There have been discussions and there is art, but they are a ways away from a real plan and budget.
