A simple list of four other countries is neither an argument for or against Brazil.

For all the people that have posted unfavorable things about Brazillian tourists, do you have a concept of how poorly American tourists are viewed in places such as Europe? Our culture is not known for behaving well beyond our borders. Careful on the accusations and broad generalizations.

Right! And from my experience that poor reputation is well deserved.

Yes, that's what is quite amusing about some of the comments!

For the record, I don't think American tourists are particularly worse or better than most I've met around the world. The reputation is not good, tho, and tends to include being loud, obnoxious and not bothering to even attempt to speak the local language!

What about an Ayrton Senna museum?

I like the idea, but I question it.

As a long time fan of racing, I heard of Ayrton Senna despite living in the Midwest part of the United States all my life. An Ayrton Senna museum would bring in a lot of foreigners into Epcot because Formula 1 is very popular around the world, except for the United States. Brazil had some great well known race car drivers through the years including Ayrton Senna. Ayrton Senna is a legend in racing and I know that he had a huge following in Brazil based I heard. It would make perfect sense to have an Ayrton Senna museum.

The problem with an Ayrton Senna Museum goes to the fact a lot of people that go to Epcot are from the United States. A lot of people in the United States don't have a clue who Ayrton Senna is because he raced in Formula 1 up to his death in 1994. An Ayrton Senna Museum would be something that would be under scrutiny by a lot of people that live the United States including journalists because they expected something like an Amazon ride, not something racing related. A lot of Americans matter of fact may think since Ayrton Senna was a race car driver, he had to be racing in ovals as a Nascar car driver. That would be a reason why an Ayrton Senna Museum wouldn't be looked at kindly by a lot of Americans despite the fact Ayrton Senna never raced in Nascar at all.

Part of that has to blamed on the sports journalists on ESPN and people in the sports media as a whole in the United States. A lot of people in the sports media are clueless about racing depending the region in the United States even without mentioning Formula 1. The other part is Formula 1 doesn't have a race in the United States currently.

Ayrton Senna museum is one of my top 3 picks that would be a great attraction a Brazil Pavilion in Epcot.

My top 2 is an Amazon ride, and a film about Brazil that isn't political.

I really hope Brazil Pavilion would happen and goes past the plans stage and gets completed. Brazil would be a great addition to World Showcase since there is not a South American Country in World showcase. If Brazil happens, I hope that it would be a start new countries for World Showcase.

There had countries before that were very close to get a Pavilion in World Showcase and never happened.

I wasn't being 100% serious about the Senna museum, it just seems like one of Brazil's biggest heroes.

The U.S. is getting an F1 race next year ;)

I'll bet a large collection of youth on tour in a pretty fun environment can get loud and at times misbehaved (and it's large by its very nature). I don't think it's unique to Brazil, Brazil just has a lot of tour groups. Good for them.

Not saying all the complaints about Brazilian tour groups are off the mark, many are accurate. It gets out of hand here when every single mention of the country gets 20 responses about how horrible the tour groups are, but buried in those way-too-frequent-and-over-the-top posts is a kernel of truth. But I don't think it's a reflection of Brazil, I think it's a reflection of young people in a large group on vacation. Ever been to Grad Night? Same thing, just worse because there are more of them. And they are American.

The potential of a Brazil pavilion needs to be separated, completely, from the nature of Brazilian tour groups.

*Gasp!*

A thoughtful opinion on the situation? For god's sake man, this is the internet! Only large generalizations and unmitigated anger will do here.

Love this.

And add to the fact that many of these Brazilian tour groups are on what is most likely a once in a lifetime trip. And that South Americans can tend to be loud and boisterous as is (I know, I'm married to one... :animwink:).

I for one am looking forward to the possibility of Brazil. It's probably just me, but I'd love to see them do a forced perspective on the Favela's in Rio. I just cant see Disney putting them in, but I'd love to see the detail that they could do with something like this.

That said, if Brazil was added to EPCOT I would hope any attraction would include "Aquarela do Brasil".

If you watch carefully, note they show the statue, Christ the Redeemer, in the very beginning, when they are outlining, before they begin adding color. I guess if they do add the pavillion they we decide on a way to handle it at WS.

I don't think Disney would put a big statue of Jesus in the middle of their park, just my hunch ;).

I have a feeling that if they add it it will be done in a similar manor as the Eiffel tower. I do not think it will be a 70' tall center piece to the pavilion.

You know, I would have thought the same. But I saw Rio this weekend, and they certainly didn't shy away from showing either the Cristo Redentor or the favelas. Both would be beautiful accents, especially at night.
