Body Wars Removed, WOL Closed Forever

I've seen it on a few other sites, so it might not be 100% accurate. But, from what I've read, Universe of Energy will be down from May 1-15 for some rehabbing. I believe I remember something about new carpeting. This is why I was hoping Wonders of Life might be given a few more days. Again, wishful thinking on my part, but like you said, that leaves an entire area dead.

Update: I found it on WDWMagic. Here's the thread:

Energy Refurb May 1-14

So, is StormRider ever going to come to WDW? Epcot is really the only place this ride could fit in WDW (or possibly Tomorrowland), and with the closing of a pavillion why not install a ride that already has the R&D completed and they know is a winner. I know it is yet another motion simulator, but I really think of Epcot being the place for rides like this. Perhaps with Soarin and MS they don't feel another sim is justifiable. There have been threads about a weather pavillion before, but it does seem like a good idea.

On a side note is there some sort of lock on Tokyo DisneySea rides that don't allow for cloning? I am just surprised that StormRider, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Sinbad, Pooh (their version), etc haven't really been rumored to be placed anywhere else. I mean there have been some rumors, but nothing substantial. Did the company that funded DisneySea have some say in that?
Could someone answer his question? The latter question really.

Not that I know. The main reason is cost. It`s accepted most of TDLs newer attractions are a cut above their US counterparts. The Oriental Land Company, who own TDL, pay WDI to design & build these attractions. TWDC won`t pay for them to come to the other parks - but they are their attractions. After all, Storm Rider is a continuation of the Star Tours / Body Wars motion base and a continuation of the R&D done for MGMs Toontown Transit/Trolley, and JTTCOTE is an evoloution of Test Tracks ride system.

to be honest..anytime I had gone on Body Wars..it was never a long line...I'm just excited to see what they put in..not a vomit machine like Mission Space hopefully

I agree, no more vomit machines. I would love to see a new dark ride or something. Something everyone could ride and enjoy. It would also be nice if they could keep Cranium Command but just give it a new updated film or something. I always loved seeing Buzzy and General Knowledge. As for UoE I really liked the update with Ellen and Bill Nye. I hope they dont change that attraction too much.

It seems rather odd to pull down WoL since it was the last pavillon added to that area (of the original pavillons). As for Universe of Energy does anyone know if it still runs off of solar power or did they completely remove that. And if they replace Universe of Energy would they still stick with the same theme?

WoE is still "partly powered" by the solar panels on the roof, but not completely. The actual statistics aren't something that is released, making me wonder what percentage Disney considers "partly"...

While I like the idea of a pharmaceutically-funded exhibit, pharmaceuticals companies, depite deep pockets, are notoriously known for NOT sponsoring things like that.

It is kind of sad if you think about it that when Amercia has the obesity and other epidemics that we close the health pavillion..probably the most important to man kind..Maybe it is more irony, not to mention the dieseases that constantly sprout out and become more intense and we need future Doctors and Medical workers;but I digress...

personally, i wouldn't trust a health pavilion funded by Big Pharma, but that's just me

man, could you imagine a 21st century revamp of Adventures Through Innerspace replacing WoL? it would never get made in today's theme park climate, but man would that be cool

I'm personally hoping they'll bring back WoL but just with much better attractions. It was very very dated and Body Wars was horrible from the time it opened compared to other attractions like it. I'd love to have a biological pavilion again, but WoL was old.

Imagination is the pavilion I'd like to see completely rethemed or either just rebuilt from the ground up.

All I can say is...It's about time...The only constant in this world is CHANGE....Epcot, and the rest of Walt Disney World, as far as I am concerned is no different.

I find that this ideology, when applied to disney parks, is extremely consoling. No sense worrying about what we can't control...look at soarin'. look at M:S. Imagine what new things they'll create. Can you imagine THE day we're all on here talking about say, a TT replacement or a M:S rehab or something along those lines? I think it would be very interesting to peek forward in time and find out what epcot will be like in, say, 2020...

Can anyone confirm this startling news that nothing has been removed and demolition has not begun?

I find it hard to believe since we all know the pavillion will never open again.

I don't think it's all THAT startiling.

The two Skyway stations at MK are both still standing. The FL one serves no purpose, while the TL one has a bathroom. However, both could have been torn down long ago.

I understand Horizons stood dormant for a while too.

There's also the Odyssey building just chillin' out there in FWE.

Officially, Horizons closed in 1994. It reopened in December 1995, and closed for good January 9th 1999, when it stood closed for 15 months.

Odyssey has been closed to day guests for what - 6,7,8 years?
