Disneyland tanked under Eisner, no? DCA 1.0 opened under him.

No, thank you.
Eisner had started to realize the problems with the parks. Even the cheap stuff had gone bones because experienced designers were still kept around. Harris was replaced at Disneyland with Ouimet. New attractions were being designed for the parks to build them out, including Expedition Everest which so excited Eisner that he accidentally blurted it out during an earnings call.

Iger doubled down on the worst aspects of Eisner’s parks management. He tried to sell them off. He spent huge sums but so much of it is poorly designed that upgrading and correcting is a financial impossibility for decades.

To be clear, I’m happy about Chapek, but not about Iger returning, for the reasons you mentioned and then some. I would prefer a fresh face that knows how to balance both the creative and financial factors of the company, all while trying to stay as close to the original spirit of the company as possible. Good luck with that, though.

Interesting this happen right before Chapek was going to clean house and announce massive head counts. Iger would never do it. Expect more Disneywoke as those people keep their jobs.

From:

“I want to share news about an exciting project that has been in various stages of planning since 2019,” wrote Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Division, in a letter to staff that was obtained by Deadline. “This new project will create a dynamic environment to support our expanding business – a brand-new regional campus which will be built in the vibrant Lake Nona community of Orlando, Florida.”

I suppose it's possible that D'Amaro and Chapek kept this from Iger for a year, but considering the efficiencies involved, it seems doubtful he wasn't aware or was told about it ahead of time.

It's also entirely possible D'Amaro was just lying when he said 2019.
Ah! Thanks for the link.

Somebody in Burbank isn't telling the whole truth.

Let's ask @TP2000 , who probably masterminded this whole thing with Zenia anyways, if history is any indication 🤣

I just moved to a new house for the first time in 30 years. I spent this morning making new friends with the garbage man, who took away approximately 3 tons of packing materials. Only 8 more tons to go! I still have no idea where anything is. Last night I was reduced to eating Haagen-Dazs out of the container using a melon baller. And you want me to mastermind another corporate takeover now? I'm sorry, I can't. I'm busy.

But I do have a freshly washed melon baller, if anyone needs it.

How are you liking Utah so far?

Sorry I'm not reading all the pages leading up to this, but just wanted to pop in and say the priority for fixing here is the DMED side of the company, which Chapek has really done a number on in Iger's estimation. The reorg under Kareem Daniel is the first thing Iger is undoing. I'm not sure where a parks checkup sits on Iger's to do list, but don't expect much to happen any time really soon.

Also important to remember that Genie+ and the Lake Nona moves were both developed under Iger.
Lake Nona is not going to happen but Genie+ will be here forever.....

A few random thoughts I haven't seen mentioned...

1. Has Bob Chapek made any sort of statement on this or said a "goodbye"? Or is he just gone down the memory hole as if he never existed, and airbrushed from history after a bad night in the Kremlin?

I just looked at Disney's corporate leadership page, and Bob Chapek is entirely gone there. Poof!

Here's where Bob Iger now ranks, at the upper left hand corner. They re-used his old photo, so congrats to the Communications Intern that kept that in their saved folders for quick weekend use!
