Yup. It's why John Stankey is still CEO of AT&T despite wiping tens of billions in value there. No accountability. I don't expect Zaslav will he held accountable for his ongoing destruction of Warner, either.
Accountability is a $125,000,000 chute and Jim Cramer making 2 backhands quips about you at 6:15 in the morning

Lest we forget: chapek made $50,000,000 for 2.5 years of figurehead mismanagement

First…it’s not the best theme park in the United States…card Walker built that down the street
Oh, I thought we were talking present tense
And I don’t want to get into it…but a lot of imagineering rot is because they became detached from the logistics of what they were doing and decided they had no limits on how they operated
He’s the poster child for that
Yes. And the reason WDI swung from diva Imagineers (even the ones I like) who overspend on vanity projects (even the ones I like) to the current batch of college kids who are just happy to wear the hardhat.

Argued with some toad believing Peltz would save the company on Deadline Hollywood (the Fox News of Hollywood trades) and he resorted to quoting Gordon Gekko to make his point.

You know, the villain in Wall Street that Oliver Stone intended for people to  hate.

I get that Disney needs help (as does every other media company) but vultures ain't it.

Yeah…

That’s not right at all. I agree with you.

I’ve long maintained that Disney would have to be taken private to survive - like four seasons…or hallmark…or lego…

Not raided and broken up

That person didn’t actually watch Wall Street, did they?

Many just watch Gordon's speeches and nothing else. They were very well-written, but that was to show how much of a manipulative freak he was, not to install some wisdom. Co-writer Stanley Weiser was actually disgusted people thought the "Greed is Good" speech was something to live by.

Truth be told…the sequel was bad but I actually liked what they did with his character

I have them and the Niners this year…

But I was talking about this guy:

…which is actually perfect for the Iger comparison.

The National media LOVES him. All praise. Like casual Iger fans.
The locals know he has won 3 playoff games in 12 years…all to backup qbs.

Based on results…should have been fired a few years ago. That…is Iger
All true- but before you let a guy go, you best have a better guy on the hook… and there aren’t many Super Bowl winning coaches out there to choose from these days… sometimes the old coach, with experience and a new defensive coordinator is the best option for the time being….

Yup, why innovate and find better ways to do things when you can just spend like a drunken sailor.
It's astounding for as expensive as Galaxy's Edge is, how underwhelming the overall creation seems to be.
Yup, 100%. It looks great, but it just doesn't live up to the budget.

It’s embarsssing…

Comcast is building at breakneck pace and significantly closing the offerings gap (I’m not saying better. Just cutting the gap)…and they mess around with this waste of time as they slow roll any tangible additions for years

True, certainly Orlando is incomparable. But Comcast also has Peacock, so you win some, you lose some.

I went down a bit of a rabbit memory hole with the Fox acquisition, which I know is recurrently quoted for 71.3 billion, but Disney actually sold 30 billion of assets during that transition. Sky being one of them. In that process I came across something I don't think got much play, but at least Iger got some comeuppance in letting go/selling Sky. Certainly would have made Disney's last fiscal quarter even worse had things gone the other way.

From Hollywood reporter from Comcast's last fiscal earnings;
Comcast also said that it recorded “noncash impairment charges related to goodwill and intangible assets in our Sky segment totaling $8.6 billion.” The media, telecom and technology giant had in 2018 acquired European pay TV powerhouse Sky for $39 billion. On Thursday, it said the impairments “primarily reflected an increased discount rate and reduced estimated future cash flows as a result of macroeconomic conditions in Sky’s territories.”

Wells Fargo analyst Steven Cahall wrote in a first reaction note: “The impairment likely marks Sky’s assets down from its purchase price to a new level reflecting lower estimated future earnings.”

Kinda crazy how some of the commenters have no idea how Disney's business strategy works. But then again Deadline is notorious for attracting the worst in people (see: them parroting The Rock's fake numbers insisting Black Adam wasn't a bomb).

This deadline piece doesn’t seem to bring anything new…most of the same talking points from the Peltz side…

When is Iger…err…I mean…”the Hollywood reporter” gonna publish their “take”?

Get this bit:

In a filing Friday, [Trian] said it had received “numerous inquiries and expressions of support from shareholders.”

And said filing doesn't elaborate on who those "shareholders" are. Hedge funds? Right-wingers who want Disney to focus on "white middle America?" Other vultures?

No one wants Disney to focus on white middle America. Please stop the nonsense and politics.
This NY Post analysis says otherwise...

Also if you think there's nothing political about this proxy fight, you're going to be disappointed when you look up Peltz's donations.

Gonna be entertaining to read Disney's annual proxy this year, especially if something explosive is in it.

I didn’t say none of this had to do with politics, I said no one wants Disney to “focus on white”.

People just want them to focus on Disney like they used to and stop with their own nonsense and politics. As they’ve lost focus, they’ve also lost value to shareholders

Well we know it’s gonna “thicken” here in time

As I keep saying: Peltz is a clown…
…but I have a hard time given how much experience he has muscling boards (a lot…by the way)…that this is just cause he’s bored with his 0.5% control

Gotta figure he thinks they have at least 25% pocketed or they wouldn’t bother.
