Sure it’s doing “fine” at the box office but considering it needs to make 2 billion it seems to be struggling.

I am starting to think I was drugged with some hallucinogens and imagined that Iger hand picked Chapek to succeed him.

This false savior crap is so old. Iger does not point out any specific things Chapek was incompetent to do. You pick and trained him for the transition Iger. Just saying fans did not like him points to Chapek being the fall guy.
The love being lost for the brand started before Chapek.
Remember "Shanghai'd" being a term? That was Igor's "I did it." Baby so he would not.admit the negative public perception about that.

Chapek fixed nothing, but the things you don't like going on in the parks were initiated and produced by Iger.

Never forget Bob Iger quit suddenly without reason just before COVID-19 hit the closure level he knew was coming and has come back twice now when he can look like a savior.
No wonder this guy dips toes in hopes for politics.

So Bob 2 gets pushed out to be replaced by Bob 1 because he had zero PR sense to try and put a positive spin on changes, or find someone who could. (Not that I'm saying there was anything positive, especially when it came to the parks.)

Now Bob 1 gets to try and put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Meanwhile, the same old BOD is in place, which I've come around to think is the biggest issue with the leadership of this company.

It's "The Walt Disney Company" not IBM. Even Iger knows that. A lot of the company's "Soul" is still today from the stuff that Walt Disney and company created. Those "Traditions" are still very important and relevant to the company, even today. It really makes it more complex with the reasons you stated.

I will second that. Character, a focus on quality, a concern for the customer, and a belief that trying to shake every nickel out of the customer will not result in longer term success may be harder now, but that’s what makes the traits important.

We were there Wednesday night and arrived 15 minutes early for my DAS time for Splash. I asked the older CM if we could go in early…he said, “What’s the magic word” expecting me to say please…I said “I hate Bob Chapek”…he laughed and said he wasn’t expecting that answer, but laughed so hard, he radioed ahead and they let us ride twice…it was a good night!

There was animosity between the two from the start prior to and when Iger stepped down. But Iger knew Chapeks work performance, his personality, how he delt with coworkers, his style of operation, and still having time to think about his replacement went along with Chapek. Now he reports on his incompetence? I'd question Igers ability to evaluate/ assess any guy or gal that comes up next to sit in his chair.
