This. The only drinks that dehydrate you are alcoholic drinks, some coffee (which starts with having 5x the amount of caffeine in soda,) and ocean water.
Neither an alcoholic or caffeinated drink will dehydrate you. But, yes, seawater will.

Indeed. There are some stinkers at Universal (IOA dining in Toon Lagoon, Marvel and Seuss Landing, Ricters) but they have been upping their quality. That said the quality of food takes a huge step up when you go to Citywalk. Universal might not have much fine dining but their casual table service in Citywalk ranges from good to exceptional.

I always find Mythos, and Finnegans(Lombards used to be a bit better) on par and a great value.

The discounts are often more generous for most passholder programs too.

Admittedly I avoid quick service because at Universal I often get a great meal at the table service and its relaxing and no reservations are every really necessary most of the year.

Finnegans Apple butter and Soda Bread. I love it and will dine there over the prices of Ragland Road any day.

Disney Springs needs a Whalburgers…had one at the Ocean casino in AC and it was excellent…they sell them in most supermarkets, but the restaurant and their burgers (IMHO) were exceptional.
Walhburgers had 2 Orlando locations , downtown and Waterford Lakes. Both went out of business in 2020.

Went to the parks last week. I could feel the under staffing a bit. I think we waited longer in line for a Joffrey's ice coffee in DHS than the rides. 1 cashier, 1 barista. The kiosk was designed for 2 cashiers.

What locations did you dine at within Universal that were so bad?

The Simpsons Fast Food Boulevard, the Confisco Grille, Lombard's, and another QS at Islands of Adventure but I don't remember which one. Maybe Jurassic Park?

I said it before but we actually threw away our Simpsons food because it was so bad.

Confisco Grille had maybe the worst service I've ever experienced. We were there for 20+ minutes before anyone took our order despite the place being pretty empty then we waited for another 20-30 minutes for someone to actually let us pay for our food when we were finished. Plus the food was cold and just not good.

Lombard's wasn't terrible but I wouldn't eat there again when I could go to CityWalk and get much better food.

I know Mythos and the HP dining is supposed to be pretty good, but I'm wary of it considering how bad our overall experience was for in-park food.

This I agree with -- the restaurants in CityWalk were good. I don't think I'd risk eating an in-park meal again after our experience when we could just walk out to CityWalk and eat there.

D-Luxe Burgers is already there, though - and I believe Disney owns it, so I feel like a Wahlburgers there isn't very likely.

I've only eaten at D-Luxe Burger once, but the burger I had there was better than the couple of times I've been to Wahlburger's near where I live.

I don't know. I guess I have just wildly different tastes, or perhaps far lower standards, than the average poster here. I read all these negative comments about the food, comparing it to everything from McDonald's to Golden Corral and I feel like we must be visiting two different Walt Disney Worlds. I think most food at WDW is quite good. I just don't get the hate for it. 🤷‍♂️
I would agree, with one major exception. The awful ‘hockey puck’ burgers that are the same no matter where you dine at quick service. Just awful. However, this constitutes a major item people will eat at a theme park. Having something memorable would change the equation.

You ate at some of the poorer choices, imo. Mythos is better than Confisco's and Finnegans is way better than Lombards for sit-down.

There are two dining places in JP. Burger Digs and Thunder Falls Terrace. I've never had bad food at Thunder Falls Terrace. Disney's and Universal's burgers are both inedible, so we avoid any FF burger place at either resort. And I would gladly eat a Quarter Pounder from McDonald's over theme park burgers.

I will take Louie's pizza over what Disney calls pizza in Pizzafari and most of the other places any day of the week.

Both HP restaurants are good. They at least have quick serve breakfast, that isn't a pastry unlike Disney. We like both Fire Eater Grill (gyros) and the Kebab place in Lost Continent. My Dad likes the chicken at Circus McGurkus, but the service is suspect there.

It was probably Thunder Falls Terrace -- don't think we had burgers again (well I didn't have one ever, but my GF had one at Fast Food Boulevard that she threw away). And I think I don't remember it as well as the other places because it was fine and so wasn't especially memorable.

We would have done Mythos over Confisco if possible, but we just tried to stop in and grab food at like 2:30 and Mythos was busy with a wait whereas Confisco was a walk-in.

Completely agree. I was very happily surprised at how good D-Luxe was.

It's one of the many solid QS options at Disney Springs, which is why we started going there for dinner most nights. I don't think D-Luxe is as good as Polite Pig or Pizza Ponte, but I'd absolutely get a burger there again. Chicken Guy is wildly overrated IMO, but it's still a decent quick/cheap option.
