I don't think the food at WDW is terrible or worse than Golden Corral/McDonald's (it's also much better than the food I had in the parks at Universal, which was abysmal and actually much worse than fast food), but I think it's wildly overpriced for the quality (with a few exceptions).

Obviously some (most?) of the price inflation is because you're at Disney -- it's not like Universal's food is any cheaper -- but I can eat much better food at similar (if not cheaper) prices here in Atlanta.
Driving through DE , Golden Corral had a lunch buffet including burgers for $12. All Star resort burger starts at $12.

What locations did you dine at within Universal that were so bad?
Indeed. There are some stinkers at Universal (IOA dining in Toon Lagoon, Marvel and Seuss Landing, Ricters) but they have been upping their quality. That said the quality of food takes a huge step up when you go to Citywalk. Universal might not have much fine dining but their casual table service in Citywalk ranges from good to exceptional.

Citywalk Bob Marley location if it’s still there serves average Carribean fare. If one drives a few miles north of Universal one can get cheaper better quality Carribean fare in the seedy dangerous Pine Hills ( aka Crime Hills ) area.

I will say that the last couple burgers I got at WDW were bland and boring. And from QS restaurants I'd been to before and loved the burgers. The patties seemed about the same size but lower quality. At a certain point I would much rather a burger from McDonalds that I know is lower quality but tastes better. It's the same reason I'd always order Dominoes outside of NY/NJ. I know it tastes ok and won't ruin my evening. Disney world could do better with consistency given the exorbitant prices it charges for basic food.

I’m not a fan of spicy food, so never ate there and have no idea if it’s still there. I usually gravitate to Chocolate Emporium, Cowfish, NBC Sports Grill (their smokestack burger is fantastic.). I really like Bigfire that is a little more upscale, and once in a blue moon I’ll do Hard Rock or Margaritavile but it’s been a really long time for those two.

Nope nothing like Beruit which has city buildings still with bullet holes. My friend from Lebanon keeps telling me to visit , incredible nightlife and cuisine. ( ie if your passport is stamped that you visited Israel one will get nothing but grief and private questioning arriving in the airport ).

ESPN club when it was operating at Boardwalk had an off the wall burger I did not try. A peanut butter and jelly, jalapeño , bacon, cheese, onions burger on a toasted bun.

Food is quite pricey where I live, plus I try not to look at what I'm paying at Disney (I know it's going to expensive anyway!), so perhaps one of the reasons I have a generally positive view of Disney's offerings is that I don't factor the cost into my assessment.

I should add that much of the food I have eaten at the parks is vegan (because of my partner), and he and I have both been really impressed the plant-based options we've tried. We did not expect Disney to well in this regard, but they do.
The reason the vegan food at Disney is so good is because Disney consciously made an effort in this regard. They decided that every restaurant (not including snack carts) would have at least one meal option that was 100% plant based and wasn't a generic salad. Often, this necessitated redoing the restaurant's menu.

As for how my family deals with Disney's food price increases, we almost always order kids meals for everyone because they're healthier, cheaper, and provide more options. Either that, or we will split adult meals and share a drink knowing that soda actually dehydrates you. So, we quench our thirst for sweet drinks and then fill our water bottles and press on.

Lol what? No it doesn't.

The caffeine in cola or root beer has a mild diuretic effect but it is more than offset by the amount of water it contains. It's not as hydrating as water, of course, but it does not "dehydrate you."
This. The only drinks that dehydrate you are alcoholic drinks, some coffee (which starts with having 5x the amount of caffeine in soda,) and ocean water.

You are correct…however sneaky products like Gatorade use high sodium to stimulate thirst.

So you’re hydrated, but searching for more.

Similar effect with designer Mickey ears and college programmers from Texas👍🏻

The Bobs won’t like my cost saving measures. We ask for cups of ice water then we put lemonade powder packets in the cup from Wal Mart for a cheap alternative.
