Not defending Jim, but I think he has had to alter his approach and tactics and things he writes in dealing with Disney, lest he would be barred from the kinds of access and information he gets. Perhaps he has become an apologetic, but it may be in order to preserve the relationship he has with insiders. Keep in mind too, he's closer to a journalist than many of the other Disney fan communities who are just considered bloggers.

I think so as well. There had been talk some time ago that Hill's main sources were no longer at the company and with that, his articles about the theme parks virtually evaporated. I think he's playing to get the access he wants and totting the line to keep that press access. As you noted, he does differ from nearly all other Disney theme park sites in that he is an actual journalist* and his writing reflects that of an actual writer, not of a blogger that would tend to butcher the English language.

*-Well, he has been published in the past, but I can't verify recent works and HuffPo doesn't qualify. I think my cat can blog on there.

Only on the cat vertical ;) But honestly, you have to know how to write and put together a coherent post and have some sort of value to blog for HP.

I think the other problem is that he can come off like a Disney apologist. He's also been fed stuff through folks like Zenia, since he writes for HuffPo now, and Sith Lord Fitzgerald so there's clearly a distorted message there. Take for example his comments on Audio Animatronics, that kind of thinking comes from folks in WDI management like Fitzgerald. Much like trying to build excellent attractions for the domestic market, WDI has written it off because it's too "expensive" and that they are overrated.
I've had some back and forth with him about issues where he's considered a Disney apologist. That's largely opinion driven though and not fact driven, there's a difference there. You can disagree with someone's opinion on something but it doesn't make that person a liar.

I've read Jim Hill and this site and I agree, I don't think anyone gives him grief about rumors ... it's because of his arrogance but most recently it's because he's flip flopped into being an apologist.

Did anyone else read that article last year that basically said TDO is doing great and spending tons of money and fans should just be silent (I'm paraphrasing of course). That article really rubbed me in a way I didn't like :)/) ... he misapplied information and distorted how funds are spent to support his claims. It was very poor writing and logic used and I just felt like he should have known better.
Yes, and he was criticized for that by myself and others.

That Pulitzer was won by a veteran journalist who had just come to HuffPo. HuffPo as an organization did not win the Pulitzer. HuffPo as an organization is not set up to nurture potential future Pulitzer winners that come from within.

I appreciated that your relationship with him didn't hold you back from criticism.

As the many people have stated, I respected Jim as an actual journalist with some writing skills ... but to sink to such a low when the well dried up, so blatantly to tow company line and misrepresent data and insult his reader's intelligence to assume they wouldn't pick up on that ... it was just ... frustrating ... it was frustrating to me because I felt like he could have been a "voice" for good, sort of a leader for change in the community because he has been around so long and knew many people and loved Disney (so obviously) but in the end he became "Mongello" ... which lord knows we don't need anymore of those (but Disney apparently does!).
