I don't hold high hopes. DCA expansion obviously sorted the park out, but how many actual rides were added? I honestly believe the studios are 10 rides short. And that isn't going to happen.
About 6 new rides, new entertainment, and a compelling new nighttime spectacular would/should go a long way.DCA Extreme Makeover of 2009-2012 added five (5) rides. And it removed one, for a net gain of four (4).
Midway Mania opened at DCA in '08 and was already done with construction when the Extreme Makeover of the park was announced by Iger in October, 2007. Thus, it's not included in the tally of new rides added.
There were 21 rides at DCA in 2007, including four major and popular E Tickets. (Soarin', TOT, Grizzly River Run, california Screamin'). The end result by 2012 was 26 rides, five of which are big E Tickets with the addition of Radiator Springs Racers. Plus a new water night spectacular with World of Color.
DHS currently has five rides total, four of which are E Tickets. Five rides, a handful of aging stage shows and Fantasmic!. So, yeah...
New entrance? Parking structures?A new entrance? I really hope that doesn't mean the loss of Hollywood Blvd.......

When he arrives to WDW tomorrow, will the resort be closed similar to the private event the Magic Kingdom held weeks ago during the evening?Too bad he won't step OUT of the Grand Floridian to see the condition of the Parks. I just came back from MK an hour ago, where I was evacuated out of ghetto Buzz after a fifteen minute wait in the first room, not to mention that Space Mountain also was evacuated today (or so I heard from a knowledgeable guest). Not even a busy night, and many of the trash cans were filled up to the top. I go to the parks at least twice a week and my Magic Band works 5% of the time, at best, to get me into the Park. This isn't the pre-2005 Disney that I moved here for.

At least I got this out of my visit yesterday.
"When you wish upon a dollar"Welcome to Iger-land... Where the Bottom Line Comes True.
"When you wish upon a dollar..."
Seriously though, in 2005 when I first met him I was unimpressed. He asked all these insincere questions about our department. I'm glad I got to be part of Disney before him, cause the one after has been a nightmare.
When our benefits got cut, it caused a huge dent in my daughters life cause I had to cover myself her braces. It was so expensive. Nightmare. Before all her appointments cost me only 25 dollar copay. After the cut, her braces went covered and I had to fork it out.
My raises were generous, but spaced in weird intervals. And it always seemed when I had to do performance reviews they wanted me to focus on the bad things instead of the accomplishments.
The real deal breaker near the end came when they moved me to California but did not give me relocation adjustment to my pay. Is it wrong of me to kinda reveal these things, maybe but I've been needing to say these things and no one but a few of you know who I am.
I believe all of the above is true. But do you know this for a fact or are you placing it out because it makes sense and sounds good?
I was told last year that final money matters of the start of the Studios Makeover/Rebranding would be complete by the end of the third fiscal quarter. The end of that quarter is June 30th. If the info I got last year was accurate (and it usually is) then I'd surmise the BoD is getting together for a dog and pony show that will largely determine how much $$$ gets spent on that park and the various components: Pixar, Star Wars, infrastructure etc.
About 6 new rides, new entertainment, and a compelling new nighttime spectacular would/should go a long way.
A few things:
I am (literally) driving away from Boardwalk right now after a 5 night stay. With the amount of upkeep and beautification they were doing our first few days I wouldn't be surprised at all if Iger was there.
That being said, I saw or heard nothing that even remotely looked like anyone special was there. I'd also heard previously that BWI is his favorite resort. I usually stay at GF and it's much better suited for those who may not want to interact with others.
I can't wait to hear what they announce. While the parks do need some work it was a fantastically fun trip, and m so glad I haven't turned bitter about WDW.
I can't figure that out. I've had days where I've spent open to close at DHS and not ridden a single ride. Wasn't bored the whole day.
One of the hidden treasures of DHS is the Citizens of Hollywood. They can account for half day if you saw all the showsYour an oddity my friend....and oddity.
Question #1 - What is BW?
#2 - What about top films not being Lucas and Marvel films? I hope that was a joke! Really, because we can't have that happening! Ain't gonna happen. Or, as G. H.W. Bush would say, "it wouldn't be prudent." Not happening.
#3 - Board is to discuss what financial outlay?!
#4 - Did I hear you say the words "rebuilding" and "rebranding" in the same sentence which question #3 is referring to?
ADVICE FOR ANSWERS
#1 - I seriously don't know what BW stands for.
#2 - Don't answer.
#3 - Is a statement, not a question.
#4 - Exaggerates #3 and is not a real question.
THEREFORE, I only asked one question.
With a new entrance to the parking lot, perhaps from Victoria Way; would this allow for destruction of the existing road in from world drive to the parking lot, making room for park expansion in that south east area near Star Tours?
Doesn't seem like such a good idea for them not to have jumped on Pixar expansion soon after TSMM opened now does it?Well, I'm excited by this information. Hopefully, we'll get some more specific information in the near future (either leaked by insiders or officially at D23).
I'm still quite curious as to how this how will be planned. DHS is already a mess and if they are closing Animation Academy and other attractions still..... they need to have some more attractions up and quick. I'm hoping the large price tag also accounts for "fast tracking" (or what passes for such at Disney) to get some stuff up in the next 2 or 3 years.
Says the guy who took my original statement completely out of context to make it about something that happened years ago that I don't even think I commented on.
Of course, I may have. It's not like I get embarrassed and delete my post...
As for this announcement, meh.
Something will be approved. The timeline will be too long and the budget will be cut and folks here will pick it apart, perhaps justly or unjustly. I guess that passes for contributing and critical thinking.
If you understand how BOD meetings are arranged they can change on a dime or be scheduled months in advance. The key here is this: Whatever Iger is purposing the DESIGN and BUDGETS are done. He only brings the BOD for the FINAL......everything is DONE......the BOD only votes when the COSTS, PLANS, LOGISTICS, DESIGNS and ANALYTICS can be shown in its entirety. They are not flown in for a tour or regular meeting!
