Bob Iger at WDW now ... BoD to Follow?

I know that a CM at BWI told me that they need to have the gym ready to go at 435am with fresh cucumber and Evian. Not sure if it is true, but I can see that happening for extra special Disney Guests.

Ah, the old Bob Iger gets up super early line. One of the oldest tricks in the insecure CEO playbook is scheduling ridiculously early calls and meetings, or telling journalists how early you get up (or how late you stay in the office), it's an easy way to sound impressive and know nobody is going to be awake at that time to call you out on it if you're exagerrating!

I'm surprised to hear that. When I was there over Star Wars Weekends it felt as crowded as Magic Kingdom, and all five rides had lines over an hour long - but the streets were still rammed, so it wasn't as if everyone was just waiting in lines, so I would have expected attendance to be riding high now that they've closed enough distractions to make the remaining rides super popular.

Small sample size vs Large Sample size. You're looking at 15 days, I'm looking at 172 days.

Yes, SWW drew people. Yes, SWW was packed. SWW was a total of 15 days and drew 11 days of peak crowds. Thats 1/4th of the peak crowds DHS drew total, YTD.

They're still pulling an average or below crowd more often than not (60%) of this year. Granted, theyre having a better April-June than Jan-Mar but not enough to gain much ground. (The resort overall pulls average & below 54% of the time, for comparisons sake). DHS is still an outlier in every category I look at it at. They're just as likely to draw a dead crowd (1/2) as they are a peak crowd (8+), both between 10-11% of the time.

You insinuated clearly back to the last time I broke news on the BoD meeting at WDW over serious matters. Apparently, because nothing publicly came of the desire to sell part of P&R it didn't happen. It did.
Sorry. I don't keep those files handy. Nice to see you do though.
Clearly you don't worry about embarrassment. If you did, then you might indeed delete many of your posts!
Just the ones where I get confused between a notification counter on the forums and a multi-billion dollar corporation hacking my computer.
What do you think is a fair timeline for rebuilding and rebranding this park? Do you think Disney is screwing Guests today who pay full price to go (let's not talk about APers or multi-day hoppers, let's talk full retail price because that is what Disney is telling the world that its product is worth)? And if you don't think people should debate what Disney does in the swamps, then why do you think these forums exist? Do you think MAGICal Steve should shut the place down?
There it is. The old "you're telling people they shouldn't debate the topic" when that's not what I said at all. It's a nice go to deflection isn't it? As for your first two question...eh...it's not really for me to say. The sooner the better to "fix the park" for me as a consumer. As for screwing guest, I am more concerned with people getting screwed on buying things they have to rather than things they want to. So the price of admission to a theme park is pretty far down on my concern list.
I truly have no clue why you are here. I'm guessing the most you get from the place is talking about some Spirits behind their backs like you're in sixth grade on the playground. Because, make no mistake, you don't ever contribute to any discussion with me and you don't show critical thinking (and I'm going to assume you are capable of it!)
See that's where you are wrong. You think critical thinking is taking the breadcrumbs of information you dole out and people coming to the same conclusion as you. Critical thinking is taking all of the available information in aggregate and coming to your own conclusion regardless of what the opinion of the original progenitor is. Critical thinking is the absolute last thing you want to happen. You want people to agree with you blindly. The forum is well versed in how you react when folks question your "critical thinking".

No
So if they are settling on a price and it seems like that's a big talking point of this BoD meeting, or at least that is the speculation. Wht is the price? Any reasonable guesses? I know they did DCA for 1B. Will we see the same or more here in WDW? Either way I am excited for D23. The parks and resorts day should be interesting!

I go to the parks at least twice a week and my Magic Band works 5% of the time, at best, to get me into the Park.

Stop pushing so hard with your finger. Touch the reader like you are touching your eye and it will work much much better. I worked as a park greeter for a while and 90% of the time this was the issue. The rest was men who had worn there finger prints off (seriously), women who had long finger nails, and people who couldn't remember which finger they used (UGH)

Disney in Florida, however, has a real problem with even enforcing rules which do exist

This Is a problem that is caused by both Poor training as well as a lack of support from "leaders". I had tons of issues with this when I was cast. Everything from butt cheeks hanging out, to tattoos with nudity, to T-shirts with expletives or sexual innuendoes printed on them. It was a very frustrating because the Operating guide (OG) said one thing and the Leaders and coordinators contradicted the OG constantly.

Yes
Someone did tell Iger pirates is in a different WDW park right? He's probably trying to figure out why the new new name isn't on the entrance sign to DHS still... ;)

I have tried everything that the cast members say: lotion on my fingers, alcohol on my fingers using the same finger, light touch, hard touch, etc., etc. I don't even have long nails. I have tried EVERYTHING! Trust me, I have heard it all.

When I say every week, I mean EVERY week, and in fact they have my picture on their iPads (or whatever those are). My husband and son hold their hands up to draw attention to the cast members with the tablets. I even try to seek out the areas where they are most.

I just asked the question: What other silly things must you do? Bc I was surprised that rooms that were just refurbed on Club Level would get more work done after less than a month.

Bob has always been known to be an early riser. If you read Michael Eisner's book one thing Michael spoke of was the fact that Bob was always up at 5 or earlier on the treadmill. He said this worked for him because he could always call him if he needed him given Michael would routinely tie up memos at 3am Pacficic (6am Eastern) during the ABC-Capital Cities acquisition. This was back when Bob's office was in NYC.

A concern I have is, if this redo actually shrinks total on-stage space, what happens when people actually visit DHS? It was uncomfortably crowded during SWW. Having less space after expansions to Star Wars and Pixar Place is crazy. The crowd levels will increase.

Just bulldoze the place and start from scratch.

In theory with more rides there will be less people on the on-stage paths, and more in ques and attractions.

I doubt you'll see a big public announcement over the whole set of plans like was done with Disney's California Adventure. Keeping details private means the project can be stopped sooner if the numbers move back in the right direction.

It always makes me laugh that when a big wig visits any outpost of their company, people fall over backwards to protect the a $$es of the management above them that don't give to hoots the rest of the time - in daily operation. Someone said that the villas Uncle Bob is staying at have been closed since May to get them up to scratch... err.. let them see what the people paying upward of $550 get. Evan and cucumber? Let him use the low pressure water fountain. .. or make him stand in line at a soda fountain where countless rapid fill cups don't work.

Make them stand in line for 90 mins at Snow White... plonk the BoD in the middle of the hub whilst CM's and guests both try to figure out there they can walk/stand/breathe! Let them wait 20 min for an ice cream on main street or try to schedule decent fast passes the day before their visit.

I know it happens everywhere, it just gives such a narrow minded view of what really goes on. Of course, if they saw the truth they'd probably all quit tomorrow, knowing the task at hand is way beyond any makeover at Hollywood Studios .

How about a teaser concept rendering unveiled at or around D23? Once more of the general public realize whats in store for DHS, I imagine Disney will want to build/control hype similar to the concept art and videos released for Avatar Land on the Parks Blog.

No idea. I just think they've learned not to over commit if they don't have to do so.

At this point there's really no way they can't go through with a DHS makeover. It's years overdue, too many things are closed, or have closed ... it's time. That being said, I do question if it's going to be a big reveal like DCA or if they just drop things here and there as they do them. It'd be better to do one big announcement. I can see them just teasing Star Wars, still, but confirming it's actually 100% coming. Just them not giving any real details. I think that's a mistake too but I doubt they care what I think. They do what they want. We may still get no announcement even if something is greenlit. LOL. All they seem to do anymore is drop a note on the blog and call it a day.
