Bob Iger at WDW now ... BoD to Follow?

The Epcot Manifesto
Appreciate the info Spirit and other breakers of news.

I'm keeping my expectations low out of a history of these kinds of things getting out of hand quick. It's not like I'm not prone to the occasional bout of wishful unrealistic thinking, but in the case of Disney actually announcing something, expecting less is the way to go.

Don't get me wrong, I want to pull out my lightsaber and dance the Yub Nub all over the house (wow, that sounded so dirty), but a quote from Pulp Fiction keeps running through my head about what we shouldn't start doing to each other yet (which actually is very dirty).

It does seem quite probable that the BoD are not there just to hit up a dessert party and test out the new corn dog at DAK, so it's hard to not get excited here.

Most likely going to regret saying anything about this...

I was told today that a bunch of the NDE's* in the graphics department in Orlando are being offered full time positions to assist with some of the creative aspects of a "large project". I happen to be fairly close friends with one of these people and he/she would have no reason to lie to me about this. This may not mean a lot to some of you, but its actually a pretty good sign of things moving forward pretty swiftly.

*NDE = Non Disney Employee. Basically people who are hired, work in the parks on various things, but aren't considered OFFICIAL Disney Employees. These span across many different aspects of the company.

Very excited to see this park get some love but one question I may have missed the answer to in other threads- if One Man's Dream has to go, will they move it? I am all for updating but hate to see such a wonderful tribute to Walt not exist at all anymore.
Someone on this forum suggested moving One Man's Dream to Innoventions West which I think was a great suggestion.

I know that a CM at BWI told me that they need to have the gym ready to go at 435am with fresh cucumber and Evian. Not sure if it is true, but I can see that happening for extra special Disney Guests.

I can relate, each morning after I get off the treadmill in our basement I always reach for some pickles and bottled water from the Acme.

Also, I think it would be a nice touch if the Boardwalk concierge sent the crew over some of those "turdesserts" they're now selling in the AK.

I'm sure Mr Lewis would appreciate some of the African native cookies with the chocolate icing

The 'Dear Leader' of The Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger has spent the weekend sunning and funning (OK, I'm making that part up) in the swamps, apparently sans Willow.

I believe he is holed up inside the Grand Flo (his usual choice) and taking part in important meetings (over things like the next six special cupcakes to be offered at WDW? Or the reaction to excrement-themed dessert items. Who knows?)

So, watch every Lifestyler run and hide and stay far, far away from him (update: the Epcot Explorer is pontificating about the wonders of EPCOT yet again on one of his patented three-day visits ... while Lifestyler to the Stars, and my pal, Tom Bricker is back in Tokyo, yes, again!, after stopping off at Aulani. Yes, again!)

More importantly, word is coming down that the BoD will be at WDW Tuesday for a meeting. No, I don't have the subject or itinerary. But anyone with it can feel free to forward it to me. If they follow form, then they'll be hiding in plain sight and meeting at the BW with likely a chunk of a floor closed off.

No, I'm not expecting any pictures.

I placed it here because it would be buried in my thread with 23 pages of people ripping the top two films at the box office right now because they aren't from Marvel or Lucas!

EDIT: Just to confirm the BoD is indeed meeting at WDW. Top on the agenda is approving the financial outlay for the DHS rebuilding and rebranding.
Question #1 - What is BW?

#2 - What about top films not being Lucas and Marvel films? I hope that was a joke! Really, because we can't have that happening! Ain't gonna happen. Or, as G. H.W. Bush would say, "it wouldn't be prudent." Not happening.

#3 - Board is to discuss what financial outlay?!

#4 - Did I hear you say the words "rebuilding" and "rebranding" in the same sentence which question #3 is referring to?

ADVICE FOR ANSWERS

#1 - I seriously don't know what BW stands for.

#2 - Don't answer.

#3 - Is a statement, not a question.

#4 - Exaggerates #3 and is not a real question.

THEREFORE, I only asked one question.

So, everyone thinking D23 for any major announcements, then? Didn't new fantasy land get leaked well before last time around?

It would behoove TWDC to take a page out of universals playbook and open up two different Star Wars phases like Universal has done with Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
Yes- I know "phase 2" is as mythical as a unicorn- but if this actually came to fruition and had a 5-7 year game plan behind it, it would be huge for the park- much more than an "all at once" build would be. Get people in and then 4 years later build another Star Wars area and let the excitement rebuild again.

Again- look at universal fans. They are already asking and projecting where the next HP area will be. That's a great place to be in- anticipation for what's to come instead of looking at what's missing.

That's my hope at least.

I always thought it would be ideal to put it in the carthay circle theater on sunset blvd. It would be smaller, but a great venue nonetheless.
I always thought if they did two phases for Star Wars:
Phase one: Covers the original three movies ( which could be done already )
Phase two: Covers the new movies - prepping the areas right now at a different area of the park.

No. It's not on the table right now. From 2007 until 2011, they tried multiple times. And failed. The P&R business has been performing very well and there is no desire to upset that apple cart.

Intersting. I still can't believe they tried so actively to sell off the parks like that. Year after year (even with the heavy operational cost), Parks and Resorts has basically been an ATM for the company, not to mention the huge branding and positive impressions the parks generate among the public for all things "Disney."

Also, Bob Iger really wanted to be the CEO who just blithely tossed away a huge part of the Walt Disney Company in the name of making a quick buck? All that heritage and legacy that goes back to the company's founder, just sold off to the highest bidder? Talk about shortsighted. How much longer until this fool is gone?

And the BoD would need to meet at WDW if they had to tour Pandora and receive presentations from the Florida-based execs and Imagineers overseeing the Studios plans. That is what this is about.

Will he be sporting a Magic Band? And will Bob accessorize it with those newfangled watch sliders?

Holy cow... BOB & DOB @ WDW...

The last time this happened was during a full solar eclipse during an alignment of Pluto, Mars, Earth, and Venus. The last time this happened, the Inca Civilization ceased to exist!

I would expect whatever Star Wars attractions to be built to be based more on the new trilogy.

I've heard these new desserts at AK mentioned several times. Someone please explain!?!?

As the bizarre inclusion of scenes from the trailer for Ep7 in World of Color Celebrate shows. And God forbid both new nighttime spectaculars at DL for the 60th not include "Let It Go" in its entirety! At least they are, as promised, dazzling.

Just edited the OP to include the following for those late to the party:

Tremors go down my spine each time I read that!
