Curious it here....what determins if the numbers go up or down as in what argument plays out for these sorts of things?

I don't believe the numbers are in flux, per se. I would guess, based on what I've been told of similar projects in the past (like say the DCA Makeover) that the BoD will be presented with either two or three options for the redo with multiple price tags. Bob will have likely settled on one, but all will be shown and explained. And then ... they'll decide.

About 6 new rides, new entertainment, and a compelling new nighttime spectacular would/should go a long way.

All things considered, I'd rather have a new daytime spectacular (a new top notch parade) than a second night show at DHS. OF course, I'd rather have both, but something during the day should be a priority especially since only the Magic Kingdom has any sort of a large scale daytime production.

Wouldn't mind something like a daily daytime parade and a fireworks show that runs on weekends/holidays (i.e. busier days).

@WDW1974 You said it somewhere earlier and it hits the nail on the head. When they built DHS/ MGM/ half day park/ they built it to be a studio tour with the great movie ride some shops and that's it. It was not designed to handle big crowds. Star tours and Muppets are literally squeezed in wherever they found a footprint. For being the smallest park, it is the easiest to get lost in, roads lead to dead ends and some areas, streets of America lead to nothing.

Thank you for this important update, We'll be keeping our eyes to the threads to see updates, hopefully some more bred crumbs come our way! Hope your family member recovers well!

Anything is possible, but EVERY (and there have been multiple) park redo plan I've seen either keep the park in roughly the exact same footprint and size or actually shrink the onstage areas.
Now I'd love to see those maps and learn the reasons why they were axed!

I keep hearing how they throw anyone off for even suggesting anything's not MAGICal. Yet, an obvious troll is allowed to spew BS?
They seem to leave the rumors and news board alone for the most part. The theme park strategies board is the big place for people there. I have a thread on the news boards where I just report news and rumors that I hear and I find credible.

Entrance and egress to the park is a mess and has been since opening. It was the first, and I believe, the only Disney park to be built without a master plan for expansion. You should be able to tell that if you are a long time visitor and have watched how areas have been added and opened.

Yes, I do think this is very obvious. The park was laid out in a haphazard way -- since I guess they naively felt it was going to be a major working studio forever -- and additions/changes have been so piecemeal over time that it's only worsened the park's state.

DHS definitely needs a comprehensive renovation; not just new attractions, but an entire makeover of the entire park. Hopefully, it will be (re-)developed with a rationale master plan going forward.

So if the park is not expanding its foot print with the redo I assume they are them going to take advantage of all the dead space in the parks horrible layout. I could sit in some sections and nary see a visitor or two if I wanted.

Overall it sounds like this will be a more dense redo with less empty space; which is good.

They could close a lot of what is to the left of Hollywood Boulevard to some degree and keep Sunset Boulevard open.

When the backlot tour was in its prime, that's essentially what the "theme park" part of MGM was. I could see them doing something like that. Wall off Pixar Place west of TSMM, close off Commissary Lane, and block off everything from Echo Lake west (save for a small plywood tunnel to Star Tours) and that could be the DHS of 2016-2019*.

*Complete speculation on those dates. Not confirmed or insider info in any way.

Seriously dude?

Attendance wise, I can prove that DHS is a flaming dumpster fire that is in dire need of help right now.

I'm surprised to hear that. When I was there over Star Wars Weekends it felt as crowded as Magic Kingdom, and all five rides had lines over an hour long - but the streets were still rammed, so it wasn't as if everyone was just waiting in lines, so I would have expected attendance to be riding high now that they've closed enough distractions to make the remaining rides super popular.
