Block Party Bash

More info:

I recently heard that Block Party Bash will be going to 5 days a week. I think this is supposed to start in January. I'm not sure what days it will or wont run, that is all I was told.

The January schedule on the Disney site has it going every day at 3pm. Fantasmic is Mondays & Thursdays. Of course, the schedule has been known to change. :ROFLOL:

The lights on the floats aren't enough to have it safely run in the evening. They'd have to add more exterior lighting at the Studios to facilitate evening performances.

Hmmm, I bet it will play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I really do think these are strategic moves being made by management. They seem to be devoting quite a bit of resources to DHS in what may be an attempt to boost attendance and make it a "full day park" even though I don't like that phrase. I feel DHS and DAK are full day parks if you take your time, soak up some theming, take in a meal. I know most don't feel that way, but now with increased budgeting and new attractions, DHS seems to be getting lots of TLC, which is great.

I honestly wouldn't care if they scrapped BPB all together, but I know the youngin's like it.
I've always defended DHS as being more than a 1/2 day park. But now Disney has undercut my arguments by announcing Fantasmic will be reduced to 2 days per week. If someone wants to call if a 1/2 day park on the days Fantasmic is not running, it's hard for me to disagree.

does anyone agree with me that Block Party Bash is the worst thing Disney has ever come up with?

Uhhh...

BPB is probably the BEST parade we've had in years, and my opinion the best since Remember the Magic for WDW's 25th. It has great audience participation, incredible dancing by the Pixar Pals, and actual acrobatics by actual acrobats! It's fun, it's energetic, it's colorful, and you get FREE NERF BALLS!!! What other parade has ever given away schwag?

Nope.

It appeals to kids or people even my age because of the characters and the energy. And it appealed to someone my mom's age because of the music and energy as well.

Fun all around and to me something we needed at DHS.

I don't like BPB or HSM, so they in no way whatsoever can take the place of a F show for me. The days without F make HS a 1/2 day park, there is no need to be there at night.

not at all. ESPECIALLY when you compare it to it predecessor.... "let's just throw a bunch of characters into cars, and some half a dancing in between them and call it a parade...." REALLY?? Who OKed THAT one???

not only is it one of my favorite Disney parades, it appeals to my entire family- 15, 21, 28, 50, & 51. How many parades can do that? Certainly not DSMC by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, I was pleased when I saw it for the first time in FL. I fell in love with it in CA, and was very worried about how the quality would carry over once it moved.... and while it didn't meet nor exceed the quality at DCA, it came very close, and I was not disappointed at all.

If they cut Block Party to 5 days, I hope they at least double the performances per day. I think DCA did the same thing. The floats have special night lights, which are already installed anyway.

Yes they do have on board lighting, but most of that lighting are 100watt Par38s aka birdies. These do a horrible job of lighting faces. Thats why at DCA, they used the parade route lighting as well to light the floats and performers better. If my memory serves me right, DHS has no on route lighting. DCA only did double performances the first few months, before they cut the parade down and the show stop to 2 instead of 3. Performers were getting injured and overheated doing 3 show stops and double performances. Plus the parade had a major budget cut after 2005.

Not at all, besides the fact that it is a good parade, how often can you catch one of these during a parade?

If they changed that awfully unoriginal and dated music it might be decent. It's like being at a wedding. I may get flamed for this but honestly, has there ever been any great daytime parade at WDW. Some have been decent but I cannot think of any that would rival the night parades. Just my opinion.

Worse than Mickey Mania ? or whatever that horrid parade was that they had in the MK blasting the hippity hop garbage. As for BPB, I'll let you know when I see it first hand.

GASP!!! I LOVED Mickey Mania...maybe partially because I worked on Main Street and watched/listened to it every day. But still - that was one parade where all the cast members really had to work at it. Soooo much dancing - and you couldn't help but tap your foot at the music. I haven't seen BPB in person yet, but from what I've seen from both DCA and DHS on you tube vids, how could you not at least like it just a little bit.

As for the "Stars" parade - YAWN. I saw about half of it one time and left in the middle of it.
The Toy Story Parade was much better than Stars, heck, Mulan was better than Stars...

Well, the lighting would be an issue, because when they did 10 and midnight previews the few days before it officially opened, they had huge lighting towers set up along the parade route in addition to the float lights. so that would present an issue of running it at night.
on the other hand, the jazzercise choreography takes its tole on the cast everyday with issues of people passing out right offset after each performance, so moving it to a later time in the evening would really help with this issue. Possibly at 5 or so....that way people could see more than one parade in a day if they chose to park hop.
