Report back in 3 hours! Enjoy!

Okay so:

Loved it. What an intriguing adventure.

The opening scenes were beautifully shot. Gorgeous, vibrant, and I did get emotional during the marvel logo sequence.

I loved the gravitas of everything, the struggle with grief. Namor and his nation were beautiful and frightening.

A great evening was had!

First of all, this is a non-spoiler thread. So I'm sure many here would appreciate you NOT revealing plot points without a spoiler tag less than a week after the movie has been released.

Second of all, I did see the movie on Thursday last week, you know opening weekend. Did you actually see it at all?

Third of all, his appearance does makes sense given the story arc of Shuri in the movie. Again this would be known if you actually went and saw it instead of reading reddit posts about the plot. However I won't go into plot points further in a non-spoiler thread.

I'll see it on D+ in a couple of months. If they give me another 1.99 membership, that is. It looks horrible, so I'm not spending any extra money on it.

This movie is really going to dip in the 3rd week. Once the small percentage of Shuri fans have seen it. I don't understand why people would want to watch a movie filled with side characters. If the best clips were in the promos they've been churning out then this movie is in trouble. It's soooo cringe and lame.

BTW, my first viewing was at a modern multiplex with stadium seating, surround sound, HD digital projection, etc. Loved it.
My second viewing was at a small restaurant-that-also-shows-movies. Sofas rather than chairs. No surround sound. Fuzzy projection. Interestingly, the whole film sort of felt more intimate in my second viewing.

Which means that you actually don't know first hand the role he plays or why. You're making assuming based some spoilers/synopsis/leaked script you maybe read on reddit or some place. You miss a lot or make wrong assumptions by doing that and it shows.

Point is that there is a reason why he is in it, and it wouldn't have made sense given the story they were telling to have him play a completely different role such as a variant of T'Challa. If that ever happens it'll be for a different movie such as one of the Avengers movies in Phase 6. However my personal preference as not to cheapen his Killmonger performance is to have him return as Killmonger in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Just got home from my third showing! This film still holds up and flows flawlessly with no one part feeling pointless. I found myself watching the film not wanting to leave as each scene played out with my enjoyment and understanding of the film continuously growing. The nuances of the film showing more with how it is filmed, the editing and design of Talokan, the parallels and callbacks to the last Black Panther it all enhances further viewing experiences.

I wanted to add that each of these three showings (Thursday previews, Tuesday and Today) played to almost full theaters with good seats still hard to find with some showings being sold out (looking at you Disney Springs). For reference I go the Cinemark at Citywalk and pretty much theres at least one showing every half hour - sometimes more frequent -playing to fullish theaters.

The parts that are funny are still getting the laughs almost a week later, the parts that tug at your heartstrings still caused audible crying in the theater.

I do plan on seeing it a 4th time and hope that it’s in the 4D format.

This is simply one of the best films in the MCU - personally I may enjoy it even more than the original.

But it was all merky and dark? The gungun city was pretty and beautiful. The Marvel Atlantis, you could barely see anything.

I noticed that too! Especially in the Namor scene when he comes out of the water and is greeted by the Wakandans. They're probably doing that to hide the bad specials effects in the background. It looks unpleasing to the eye though. It looks like a bad tattoo coverup.

Looked to me like they were going for realism. It does get murky the deeper you go. So, I like it.

Agreed… if you look at the Little Mermaid teaser it is the same deal the water looks murky and dark…. Although for that story I think the should go for a more vibrant color scheme…it is still just teaser… so the film could be different

I think it works for Wakanda Forever

You haven't seen the movie, you've stated you won't be paying to see it. So you're judging things based on edited scenes from the trailers, which Marvel is famously known for altering to hide the real plot, ie misdirection.

I can tell you first hand that the trailer doesn't do the movie justice in truly showing the grandeur of Talokan. And I can say first hand the special effects and CGI work in this movie in my opinion. So at least see the actual movie first before saying something looks "unpleasing to the eye".

I don't need to see a movie to know it is awful. I've got eyes, unlike some people I'm not blind or delusion and think everything Disney does is a masterpiece.

Wokeanda stinks!
