Hello, all! I know I do not post too often, but I do consider some of you friends and I need all the advice you can give me....

We just found out we're expecting!!

Now, while this last week has been nothing but stress (especially given that I have had no Internet at work, and, therefore, can not communicate with you all), I need to begin re-planning for our trip now. (Yes, thank the OCD gods for this! LOL)

Anywho, I will be approximately 3.5 months along by the time our trip comes. I know I should have no problems traveling, but I am more anxious about the rides. For those of you who don't remember - I love roller coasters - esp. the ones at WDW. So, that being said (and please remember I have two children already) - should I attempt RNRC and EE or just forget they exist during the trip?

I am up for any advice you guys can give me. Just so you know, I DO NOT do the teacups or any ride like that and I'm pretty sure BTMRR and SM won't be too jarring (well, maybe Space will....). So, feel free to respond, PM me or whatever - I'm open to any and all ideas!

PS - doesn't it just suck now that I won't be able to have a delicious margarita from Mexico? AND that I can't have any wine from the F&W festival? Oh well - I can always go back (hey, the baby will be free for two years! LOL)

I went when I was about 7 months pregnant. I didn't do any of the major rides, not even BTMRR, SM, or any of those. I did dumbo and rides like that. It's surprising, I didn't even miss doing the big rides. The best was when my dad talked my 5 yo daughter on going on BRMRR with him since I couldn't go on it. He told her it was a train ride. She came off it smoking mad, she said that wasn't a train ride, it was a roller coaster!

Yes ..you can ride these rides with no complications but why chance it if you do not have too...
That is what I do not get..Oh well..

I'm with you; I don't get what the discussion is even about. It's a no-brainer. The rides aren't going anywhere; you're only pregnant for 9 months, not forever. Why take the chance? There are warnings on the thrill rides for a reason. You can do lots of things at WDW without putting your unborn baby at risk.

Congrats!!! I just found out 2 weeks ago that we're expecting baby #3 :sohappy: We have our trip planned for December, but like you I've got a little rearranging to do  I don't plan on doing anything too thrilling except chowing down on snickerdoodles & hot cocoa at MVMCP :slurp: For me it's not worth it to chance the baby, and I've already had more ups and downs this time around and it's so soon in the beginning that I can't imagine doing anything to harm this little one just for some personal indulgence. I'm looking forward the most to checking out the newly refurbed HM - that in itself is worth it to me!!!! There will be plenty more trips down the road to ride all the rides when you're not in such a fragile state

I disagree with the poster who said you could ride TT and ToT..NO WAY in the world should you ride a ride that jerks you like TT and drops repeatedly like TOT...

Also to the you cannot live in a bubble thing...I think that while you are pregnant..you should and do have to take certain precautions that you do not have to while you are not pregnant.

No one is staying to stay home and lay with your feet up the whole time but if you can do things that could prevent you from not having something happen then by all means you should not do them.

There are warning signs on these rides for a reason..so follow them..like I said earlier it is just a 2 minute ride and if you can prevent something that could affect your baby then by all means do it..it is that simple.

 You could have just quoted me!

As I mentioned... the Poster needs to do what they personally feel comfortable with. We differ in opinions in what attractions would be acceptable... but again, it's just doing what we feel to be in our comfort level. I dont feel those attractions could potentially be harmful... but you do... and theres nothing wrong with that. As another poster said... we have to live with our decisions and actions... so it has to truly only be our choice.

My bubble comment was not meant to mean litterally in a bubble, but that there are people that take the precausions, that do all the right things, that follow all the directions, and still lose a child.

Yes Disney does suggest "ride restrictions" for expectant mothers. And to the OP, I suggest swinging by Borders or your local book store and purchasing the Walt Disney World Passporter for your Special Needs as a good read.

I know..I realized that after I posted..

I also agree that everyone has their own opinions on this I was just stating mine and just saying how I felt about your comments...Not trying to say you were wrong but just that I disagreed with you..:lookaroun

The book is a good idea though..:)

I'm not a woman and therefore also not pregnant. I do however have High Blood Pressure and have had it for the last couple of years. With the exception of just riding Expedition:Everest the one time because I wanted to see it, I've pretty much stayed off of all the coasters at WDW and have limited the number of times I ride Test Track. I've still had a fantastic time every time I go with my family. I just feel that it's not worth the risk to my health and the happiness of my family to go on something like Rock n' RollerCoaster with the possibility of something sending me into a stroke. At least if you skip the "Thrill Rides" on this trip, you know that it won't cause any problems to your pregnancy and next time you visit, you'll be able to go on them again. And High Blood Pressure being something that can affect a pregnancy as well, that's part of the reason for the warnings on the rides. You don't want to elevate your blood pressure to a level that is unhealthy for your unborn child.

Number one I think you should definately speak with your midwife. I don't think I would chance it, only because you never know...but its true some people do all the right things and still lose their babies. Then you have mothers doing all the WRONG things and still having a healthy baby. It's the luck of the draw, but if something did happen you might feel as though it is your fault for going on rides. It's a catch 22.

Just a side note, I kick box several times a week. Very strenuous, high impact, jumping up and down. My doctor said that as long as my body was used to it and I had been doing it all along that I could continue to do it. He said that the problem is when you start doing things your body is not used to the strenuous activity.

But even if you don't get to do your favorite rides you will still have fun and like you said, your baby will be free for two years, lol.

I wouldnt do it. I will be 7 months when we are there in Sept and of course my doc said no to the thrill rides but even if she said yes to like splash I still wouldnt go on. You are also not out of the stage when miscarriages are still able to happen. I hate to say that but it had to be said. I would stay on calm rides only. You will have plenty of time during your life to visit Disney and ride all the thrill rides your heart desires. And just think the next time you go to Disney you can share that joy with your child:sohappy: Congrats:wave:

Keeping with the chorus... don't chance it. Missing a few thrill rides this trip will only make you more excited for the next time! By then you and your husband can use the "Baby-exchange" and each ride. Congratulations again.

P.S. - What is South Jersey to you? We're outside Atlantic City... how about you?

I would not go on any rides where they have a pregnancy warning. I'm sure that takes care of the RNRC, Tower of Terror and many of the other super fast and jerky rides. Why would you even risk it????

You would be better of having a Margarita than going on the rides you talk about. SM...have you lost your mind, that ride jerks you around from here to kingdom come. Please for your baby's sake stay away from the roller coaster type rides.

First off, Congratulations on the pregnancy!!!

Here is a bit of advice from another Jersey girl. Don't do it. I wouldn't take any chances with any ride that will bounce you around too much. Disney and the roller coasters will always be there, they may just have to wait until after the baby comes until you venture on them. Better safe than sorry.

Isn't it part ofthe warnings on the signs outside the thrill rides that preganant women shouldn't ride, along with anyone with heart trouble and back trouble?

Better safe than sorry. Besides, if you have to skip them this time, what better reason to make a return trip sooner rather than later!:D

Welcome to the club! I'm 36 weeks myself!

Now to the bad news... I would not do anything jarring. This not only includes all the coasters (sorry!) but also Mission:Space, Dinosaur.... anything that's going to jerk you around a lot. You do not want the placenta to separate from the uterine wall.
I don't have a comprehensive list of rides to avoid, but my advice would be to read the signs with the warnings and think about what the ride will do to your body. Do not risk it. If you risk it and it turns out badly, you will blame yourself.
Reinvent your vacation. Instead of making it about the rides, make it about something else... like the shows, or the dining, or the hidden treasures. Go on a hidden mickey scavenger hunt. Enjoy the animals at DAK. Do some nice dining. Watch all the shows. And do some stuff that you won't be able to do when the child comes right away... romantic stuff.

Personally I wouldn't risk anything that could potentially harm my baby, or put my pregnancy at risk. I miscarried once and it was the most heatbreaking experience I have ever had. WDW will still be there after your baby is born!
My sentiments exactly Nemo14!
I understand where you are coming from.

To dragonfox98 - I wouldn't take any chances!
You can still have a great trip!
