For Future World, I truly think it'd be best not to add a new pavillion in either of the two (or maybe only one) remaining expansion spaces. And on that note, I do not think Wonders of Life should reopen as a standalone pavillion. Unpopular opinion, but I will try to explain.
Wonders of Life's fundamental problem, and a significant cause of its closing, was that it was tucked away. Unlike all of the other pavillions, you couldn't really see it when walking by. There was no weenie to draw you in. Only a sign and the spiraling thingy, but those paled in comparison to the other six big, visible buildings. Now that may not seem like an issue to us experienced people, but the average new guest is very much "see and do." And if they don't see it, they miss it.
Now, I suppose if Disney were to make a second attempt, they could squeeze the pavillion closer to the walkway and have some bigger weenie to draw people in. But, apart from hurting the symmetry of FW, that would overcrowd one part of it. By adding, they'd actually be subtracting. The open space around the visible front of each pavillion is what defines it. It's what makes it seem and feel grand. It's what triggers the average guest's brain to know that this is important, this is something good. That this something they should see and do.
So there really is no good way to add another Future World pavillion. Is there? What would you suggest?
I'd be very much in favor of them doing what they did with The Land pavillion, adding another ride/attraction out of guest view that uses the expansion space. That way, the park aesthetics remain intact. And each pavillion is a solid experience. I believe that is the best long-term vision for Future World.
How about using actual expansion pads for actual new pavilions with their own attractions as the park was designed to do? Tacking on another attraction/building to an existing pavilion just creates a mess like soarin in the land. Cramming that into there with dangerous single escalators that arent enough to handle the masses was a poor idea. It should have had its own separate front. entrances and exits between Imagination and the Land as its own pavilion. Same with cramming frozen in Norway as has been stated over and over. Instead a massive expansion pad was used for a small meetngreet building for what could have been a new attraction or pavilion. Martin may have a percentage on how much of that pad is actually used. Im guessing only 40% if that? Thats pretty bad.
