For any of the insiders do you see the proposal of the new WS pavilion actually getting somewhere or does it seem like yet another blue sky/stuck in planning idea like many of the other past WS ideas.

1 as you said, doubtful. But the tent is a temporary structure for a reason.
2 squeezable. And is on the radar. In fact this whole area could see some changes in the coming years.
3 that may be spoken for. Time will tell ;)
6 one is certainly deemed too close to the RoE marina now. The other could be too, and could be part of the reason a connector to the CBR stalled.

Can you say if it will possibly be an expansion or an additional country being added? I think I know the answer to that question, but I had to ask.:geek:

There is plenty of space in those empty communicore and Innoventions buildings to move all of the festival stuff to...

My big blue sky idea for a long time has been to see it revert back to Communicore and take on a new purpose, and seeing that the idea was there from the beginning that the buildings could be expanded just makes me wish it more.

Not to waste too much time with armchair imagineering, but I'd love the idea to see more space dedicated to the Future World theme concepts (communication, energy, future living, etc.), but with added cultural space in Communicore that Disney could use for outreach to local arts, tech, and academic communities. Like, maybe a room for ensemble musical performances by local or college orchestras, or a scientific concept demonstration space, or a forum room for academic presentations or debates, with each visitor for each purpose wearing a name tag with a corresponding pavilion logo. Here for the discussion of alternative fuels? Here's your Energy pavilion name tag. Performing with the chamber group? Here's your Imagination (for the arts) logo. Discussing new city layouts for future planning concepts? Horizons logo, etc.

Again, blue sky, but it'd be great for those buildings to actually have a purpose, and keeping a strong relationship with local schools, artistic groups, and the like could ensure that they'd actually get used and not grow obsolete as quickly as Innoventions did.

M:S should be getting some love.

It's not going anywhere (for anyone who thought it would be)

Just don't eat that fancy meal right after getting back from Mars. Or after coming back out of orbit ;)

Futureworld East seems like it might get a few more places to eat. Just not Odyssey (sigh)
Quite a bit of food for thought there.
Thanks for all your insight and info, Martin!

A thought occurred when I read this. What about dedicating space to each of the FW theme concepts, but presenting how those things are being played out around the world? The countries in WS would be great for a start, but if there's something that might involve other parts of the world (for Seas, there are some island nations doing some awesome work in marine conservation), then so much the better. Make it as vivid and engaging as possible. Make everything into something really happening -- and worth supporting! -- and Future World won't be anywhere near irrelevant.

That, or take over the Smithsonian for a few months to do the same thing.

Oh yeah, definitely include people from all over, or at least people who could explain what's happening in other parts of the world; would be a great way to demonstrate the actual actions involved in being involved with the rest of the world. Really, if the pavilions were expanded, it wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to have that cultural/community space, some hands on science museum-esque exhibits for the other pavilions, some small installations for future/tech themed art dotted throughout, and heck, fine, even the character meet and greet.

I guess it's just the desperation some of us are feeling for the EPCOT ideas to not fully go the way of the dodo. Heck, I saw a headline yesterday about a possible breakthrough in converting plastic bottles to fuel without a lot of wasteful byproduct. It'd kill me to never see my favorite park even broach such an idea, given how you could easily integrate Energy, Living Seas, and The Land into such an exploration.

There's enough room for something smaller, like eaterie sized, as opposed to a ride though.

Perhaps a new QS resturant in one of these areas?
