News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Oh I know. I do think it could be modified to be more “exploration” and “discovery” - showcasing the beauty and natural wonder of the American frontier - as opposed to conquest and aggression which could in theory be accepted. But the lack of IP alone would doom it.

However doing some version of WRE would be a massive hit with “traditional” Disney fans. It would certainly be the kind of bid that would get some cynics to return.
I would love that but I'm just not gonna get my hopes up.

He also was the first to mention the Hatbox Ghost being added to MK, the Rose Gold Castle, etc. The good thing about him is he usually doesn’t say anything unless it’s almost certainly happening.
Brayden usually only says what’s almost confirmed, so I think this is definitely credible. It also aligns perfectly with what we’ve been hearing for months now.

The castle wasn't 'rose gold' which is a metallic finish. It was salmon with added filigree add-ons.

And what does "almost certainly happening" or "almost confirmed" mean?

It has been said countless times that Splash and CBJ and the RoA were not "the frontier" despite being plopped down in a land called Frontierland.

And when you convert Splash to TBA and Pecos Bill to Tiana's Place... what is left of Frontier land?

Diamond Horseshoe was already drawn in by Disney maps to be preposterously part of Liberty Square. And even if you took it out of Liberty Square, it's a St. Louis restaurant, which is the same timeframe of Mississippi riverboats... and thus, not the Frontier.

The "Frontier" is not just generally the Midwest or the South. It was unsettled land (unsettled by European expansion).

There's just about no Frontier left with Pecos Bill's conversion.

It was time to put a fork in it and call it 'done.'

(Not to mention the problematic associations there are with "the frontier" -- for some, it was called 'home.')

You know, Magic Kingdom does have themes. It's not just, "theme park plus Disney."

Frontierland is integral to those themes. If Frontierland is problematic, then so are Mainstreet U.S.A. and Liberty Square. Hell, WDW is built on land taken from natives by white men like Walt— perhaps the whole joint is now offensive.

Moreover, Latin America is a region, not an idea. It doesn't have any underlying themes like the western frontier, Tommorrowland, Fantasyland, and so on. So I maintain that creatively Latinxland is NOT an interesting idea for the Magic Kingdom.

Cowboys and Indians, offensive 100%. The wild west as a concept? What the @#$% ??

This post isn't doing what you think it's doing.

They haven't announced anything yet - one dubious rumor has people jumping quickly to the conclusion that Frontierland is done for.

It might be worth hanging in for a little bit and letting the truth of the matter come into focus. People are getting upset over nothing.

And what pray tell do I think this post is doing?

This is a discussion board, I'm just voicing my opinions. I'm fully aware that this may in all likelihood never come to fruition

It would be idiotic to retheme all of Frontierland (except BTMRR) to New Orleans and then spend a bunch of money building a new Frontierland in a different spot. Not to mention the operational impact of putting a bunch of Frontierland behind walls.

You want to build a New Orleans area for PatF? Sure… build it at the train station and going north from there. Put in Tiana’s restaurant and and whatever else you desire. But be efficient and sensible with spending money, don’t blow a wade of resources just to retheme and not add any capacity.
Except, there is limited buildable land North of the train station. It is the train maint. for Big Thunder and the canal.

It’s only the CBJ piece that I had not heard. I was told we’d keep some of Frontierland so BTMRR isn’t an orphan.
The thing that scares me about the country bears is that the exit is into Pecos bill, right? So would they just wall off the two?

I really hope they don't just gut the country bears theater and make Tiana's restaurant gigantic

Nothing problematic with the 'Frontier' and everyone likes a good cowboy film ... mmm 'Cowboys Of The Frontier' could sound like a cool ride. They can always build a 'New Frontierland' behind BTMR if any of this was going ahead, and that's a big 'if' due to:
  • Global recession on the horizon
  • From Idea to being Operational through WDI to division management move at a glacial speed.
  • Any plans for this will value engineered to a beignet and a mint julep cart
