You can most definitely build an entire land based on Coco's Land of The Dead. Think of Diagon Alley. We could enter through a graveyard and walk across the marigold bridge.
You can make all kinds of fun shops. You can do something along the wand store in HP but instead tie it to Alebrijas. We could go to a party at Ernesto De La Cruz'z house. See an art display by Frida Kahlo.

it would be amazing...
You could build and entire land based on lots of movies; but that's not the tried and true pattern. In fact, it's short-sighted and risky.

I don't even know what you are talking about. The person I quoted said there would only be one ride and I said there could be more. That's it.

Toy Story? Avatar? Dumbo? Beauty and the Beast? Star Wars?
Only one of these was built as a whole land about one movie, and now it has two movies with more to come. Even so, Pandora is thin on content. It has one awesome attraction and not much else.

Beauty & the Beast was a great addition to Fantasyland. Dumbo has been there since the beginning, so I don't get that one at all.

Batuu is far from perfect, but it represents a dozen films or more, plus hundreds of hours of made for tv content.

I think building a land around Toy Story was a mistake (especially as it was executed), but there's plenty of content to support the idea: four movies, several shorts, 3 or 4 made for tv specials...

As well as very expensive

Use the extra money for a “land” to build numerous rides in different places and in different parks. Disney needs to focus more on spreading out the crowds and the MK may be the last place to build something new right now

Ah, so moving the goalposts for what is considered a 'land'. Got it. 👍

Like all of us, I’ve long-dreamed of a $1 billion The Black Cauldron land. I plan to ask Bob about this at the next shareholder meeting.

They’ll do that around the same time they build the John Carter-land lol
Both could fit perfectly behind Big Thunder and the lands themed to failed films could nicely segue into the ride about the failed Eddie Murphy ghost house movie. Flopland would be spectacular. Maybe a Lone Ranger playscape since we all want more Armie Hammer. Watch out, kids! That AA bites!

How is that moving the goalposts on what's considered a land?

The original comment was that it's not a very good idea to build a land based around one movie, and none of those lands are built around one movie at this point. More importantly, Toy Story Land is bad, as is Storybook Circus (although I wouldn't consider that a Dumbo land anyways; it features some stuff from Dumbo but I think it's more of a generic circus setting overall).

I suppose you could try to say Beauty and the Beast is a land built around one movie, but Disney doesn't consider that a separate land and I wouldn't either. It's part of Fantasyland and it doesn't feel separate from the rest of Fantasyland. I guess technically Storybook Circus is part of Fantasyland too, but it definitely does feels like a separate land.

Regardless, I think building a land around one movie can work if it's a unique setting -- like Pandora or basically anywhere from Star Wars. The Land of Dead from Coco would work on those grounds, although I don't know if the IP is a big enough draw for that to make sense.

A Prydain Chronicles land would be great! But they'd have to actually develop the Prydain Chronicles movies that were supposedly in preproduction like a decade ago rather than using their original botched Black Cauldron adaptation. I imagine they'll never actually make those films, though.

They could open up a 5th gate. Failed Kingdom. It would likely feature more recent films 👀
