Just like when people complain about not refurbing and doing enough upkeep in their opinion on various attractions and then complain again when they go down for refurb

I'm just saying the glass is and always will be half full for some on here.... and for some of those it would only be half full of butterbeer :)

And you will always be here to exaggerate that and characterise posters on this forum as whiners who do nothing but complain purely for the sake of it while working in some sort of pointless cheap shot at Universal. Believe it or not, not everyone here has gripes with present-day WDW simply because Universal are investing in order to improve their resort in Orlando, some posters just remember a time in the recent past when they felt that the standards of quality in multiple areas across WDW were higher than they are now and would like to see a return to that. And there is nothing at all wrong with that.

If Disney built a Star Wars-themed land of a high quality at DHS that improved the overall experience of visiting the park with the addition of entertaining and immersive attractions then there would be absolutely no reason to complain. We have high expectations because our experiences of WDW have cultured us to expect the very best theme park experience. If Disney ever fail to meet those expectations in any area then posters here are perfectly within their rights to express their disappointment if they so wish.

If there was "way too much inventory" then why wouldn't they just retrofit poly grand Florida and others into DVC rooms instead of adding on?

Because a) the "braintrust" are only ever thinking short term b) I said in the next 30 years not one of those goons have thought what happens when DVC expires at Old Key West and how they have to sell more rooms.

Sure they have...they have already extended many OKW contracts ....I assume they'll do the same for others down the road

Agree.

And Avatar opening in 2017 is a stretch ... didn't it take them three years to build this Seven Dwarves coaster?

Mine ride is on track for a 2 1/2 year construction time.

There is no concrete proof, but it seams likely. The speed of construction appeared to increase considerably at the beginning of October, which is the start of Disney's Fiscal Year. Also, look at the Tangled Restrooms, they took almost 2 years to build. There is now way I am going to believe that it could not have been built faster if they really wanted to. Personally I think the mine ride was built at the pace the Disney wanted it built at, not the speed it could have been built at.

It isn't much of a stretch, if construction started yesterday (which it did) 3 years from now would be early 2017. It took Disney 3 years to build Carsland, so I think 2017 is a good guess on their part.

I would agree that 3 years is reasonable. The only two rides that took more then 3 years to build recently were Mission Space which included the time to demo Horizons :( and Test Track which was due to serious technical problems. Yes, Avatar is going to be an entire land, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will take longer since parts of it can be built in parallel.

I don't think DHS will be left with nothing. Things change constantly and they are trying to figure out what will be the best direction for DHS. I doubt WDW management will wait long before green-lighting an attraction already built in California, it's just too much of a bargain. They probably just want to see if DL sees any type of revenue boost before spending a lot of money here as there is plenty of IP they have to choose from (Pixar, Frozen, etc).

Boardwalk Villas, Villas at Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club Villas ... all expire at the same time.

Correct...and they'll likely begin offering extensions on these soon like they did at old key west. Boardwalk and beach club probably won't be hard to sell/resell

Heres how I see it.... before Avatar was announced - who on any board, site or anywhere stood up and said 'something is avatar themed is coming to Animal Kingdom'

Also, Disney Springs - there were rumblings that something would have to be done.... but did anyone stand up and say a shopping mall is on the way?

These days it seems people sniff around ideas and publish thier dreams on the internet and everyone signs up that its coming for sure to Disney Parks. Sure, Iger said there will be increaded presence for Star Wars in the parks.... he didnt stand up and say we are building a roller coaster a new show and an interactive game (for example) - yet someone at Miceage publishes an idea and then backtracks out of it a few months later - starting a hate campaign here that disney are 'scaling back' and cutting back thier original plans.... we havent seen any WDI concrpt art, we havent had an official announcement, so how do we know!!

I think the moral of the story is until we have an announcement or they actually pull a parade or we ride an attraction - then we can make judgement - in the mean time all these people 'in the know' on 'the inside' or who 'can confirm'.... lets just admire them for dreaming and praise them for thier creative minds.... lets not go booking our 2018 vacations based on what they say is coming/going

They just doubled down on an aging IP that costs a boatload of money (both the cost of the IP itself and using a cast of Equity actors in addition to theater attendants). During Christmas, they brought in food trucks and showed cartoons in Sounds Dangerous. These are evidence of park with a lack of capacity that isn't going to be fixed anytime soon. Where's your evidence, other than wishful thinking?

1)Yes, they laughed it off ...
2)Yes, and was stuck in committee awaiting that elusive green light, regarding which plan to proceed, and we were told by Disney would be completed by 2016 ... which most likely will run into 2017.

Again, I have multiple people telling me that there will not be a studios make over until the parking lot in main entrance issues are resolved. Those issues will not be addressed until Disney springs is finished is also what I'm being told.

Can you expand on this? I don't see how they are related. How would construction at Disney Springs impact DHS?

I can understand it is changing the entrances to DHS is the first step in any expansion there. As others have pointed out, the main tollgate and entrance to the parkin lot is a street that runs right next to the SoA and Star Wars stuff, so changing the entrance road could allow for the current street to be used for in park stuff. OK. But what does that have to do with the Disney Springs project?

Someone on this board did have the Avatar info a month before it was made public but didn't believe it so never said anything.
