Bad news from our friends at MiceAge...

I agree with you ... there is so much more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about ...

There are so many more creative and interesting projects that get the axe behind the scenes, budgets cut, projects put on hold, and bonuses handed out for inflating profit margins by trimming maintenance ... there is so much more we don't know about behind the scenes. I agree 100%

The one thing we do know (by using our eyes and ears) is nothing is coming to the parks at least for the next five years unless ... nah ... never mind ...

Seven Dwarves Coaster, Avatar, and probably more attractions are in the works for WDW over the next 5 years. WDW pretty much is adding new attractions at the same rate they always have. I remember going to WDW throughout the supposed glory days of the mid-1980's, and WDW barely added anything new attractions throughout that entire span.

Wow, one little line buried deep within the MiceAge article with nothing to support it at all? I'd be more inclined to believe it had permits been pulled, concept drawings been released and the like and then being told with no support that it's been cancelled. To this point, all we really had was some vague Igerism put out there and nothing more. 3+ pages of posts on nothing concrete. I guess it's just a testament to the current climate. Someone else on another thread, sorry I don't recall how, brought up just how both adversely and otherwise the information age has impacted how we enjoy the parks and how our own expectations are tuned by how much we know at all times now. Go back 30 years, I wonder how many concepts were cancelled and others acted upon year after year, but because no one knew about them, no one was disappointed. I see this crumb of nothing from Miceage as just that. Nothing. If it were substantial and could be substantiated, it would not have been buried within a paragraph half way through the story.

Well they did add two parks in the '80s...and Typhoon Lagoon...

So when you all say"nothing" is coming ....I assume you all want an e ticket before it's "something" right?

Yes. Wouldn't you like an "E" ticket?

When I say "E" ticket I mean something that is exciting enough to draw crowds and incite a fervor (oh you know like Potter did and Star Wars would ... etc etc etc). Or how about just adding substance to parks that they ran into the ground? ...

What attractions are in the works?

And that may be because they opened an entire new park in 1982....

Of course I would like an e ticket but Disney world is more to most than just "rides". Unfortunately though regardless of what they do with Star Wars or avatarland (e tickets or not) it will never be good enough to many of those on this site

Outside of Seven Dwarves the rest is pure speculation ... we don't know when (or if) Avatar will actually be built and to just throw out there that you are sure other attractions are in the works for the next five years ... have you seen how fast (slow) Disney builds things?

I want to use just what we can see ... Seven Dwarves and that's it ... until they break ground on Avatar we have no idea when that will arrive and unless they do it soon, with the way they build things, five years from now is not out of the question.

I am not saying the Mice Age article is true or not but to be perfectly honest it doesn't matter because we KNOW they have not announced anything, we KNOW MM+ is taking longer than they expected, we SEE nothing is being built ... so what do we know? We know there is nothing coming for a LONG while.

That's gross hyperbole ... you can go back through the archives of this site and see how the site has shifted. At one point it was the overwhelming majority that sniffed pixie dust and defended everything the mouse did. The problem is that loyalty got exploited and used and now reality has set in BUT ... that love is still there, that's why we keep going and coming back ... so if they just went back to the original ideology of "give the customers the best experiences we can" (and believe it) then the majority of people on this board would gladly go back to sniffing pixie dust. (or at least I know I would).

And we're back to this again, your default position. Its absolute nonsense, if Disney actually built a Star Wars-themed land that was of the high quality that we have all come to expect from them then you would find very few people here complaining. Disney set the benchmark for theme park quality, posters on this forum only want them to maintain the high standards that they cultured us to expect over the years.

Well it is the main reason I did go to WDW, it wasn't to hear a Disney Ra-Ra speech about "Dreams/Magic/Wishes" which bar Illuminations is the only form of Entertainment on property which doesn't have that message...

Just like when people complain about not refurbing and doing enough upkeep in their opinion on various attractions and then complain again when they go down for refurb

I'm just saying the glass is and always will be half full for some on here.... and for some of those it would only be half full of butterbeer :)

I don't think any of us have complained about when a refurb happens, its that bar from HM and HoP in 2007 and Splash Mtn, last year, they don't fix the issues of the attraction that are raised on forums like this across the Net.

Also my glass is always half Mint Julep ...

Yep, it just proves that no one here actually knows whats going on behind closed doors. Its all hearsay from people they know in the company. The fact that they sent George K and Kathy Mangum over here, should tell you that something is going on at WDW.

Your assertion about the two of them is pure speculation, just like you're claiming others do. Looking from the sidelines and using some commonsense, it seems logical that they've spent a fortune on MM+ and it is currently a budget buster. It's laughable to think that much of anything is coming to Orlando outside of the supposed Avatar for years to come. Their past decade of spending and business plan mixed in with the current Magical Bands makes many of us hopeful for a whole lot of nothing outside of higher prices.

And you'll always brandish that last bit out, whether those folks are right or not.....

What's your point, caller?
