Bad news from our friends at MiceAge...

Is American Idol doing the business anymore? If anything we will get an announcement with a vague 2018/19 date... there is more going on that meets the eye.

I don't think it's necessarily dead, but apparently it's a very expensive IP contract, and plans were to shutter it sometime early in 2014, to the point the actors who work there were actively looking for jobs. Presumably it's not coincidence that most credible SW rumors had the new land taking over a lot of the surrounding real estate. However, word came down in December the show is staying because there is nothing new coming to take its place. I would assume at least a 2-year contract, maybe longer.

This is what happens when you have mandated profit margins.

I do not believe these plans are canceled. So especially because they were never officially announced. That's beside the point.

Again, I have multiple people telling me that there will not be a studios make over until the parking lot in main entrance issues are resolved. Those issues will not be addressed until Disney springs is finished is also what I'm being told.

So if you're mad about this, maybe you should get mad when we raise the issues of corporate compensation, the make up of the Board of Directors, and all the other business things that we bring up.

All of those issues directly impacts their corporate philosophy of the company which… Apparently is "the guests will always come"

I am not surprised to hear any of this news at all. TDO will just raise ticket prices and within a few years their numbers are going to drop because of high prices and lack of new attractions. UNI Orlando will take more guests away every year.

True...but many of those that attend Star Wars weekends aren't once in a lifetime visitors
Agreed but that's an annual special event. They aren't puting in a permanent Santa attraction for all the Christmas visitors. You know?

To my knowledge last year SWW packed 'em in. Unless like half the people show up this year we all know TDO will call it a raging success, pat themselves on the back, pass around bonuses, and that's the end of it. They haven't been forward-thinking enough to date. What makes now any different?

We all know both coasts could really benefit from new attractions. The sad truth is its just not happening anytime soon with the need to slow/stop spending to cover MM+.

I'm not sure they do.

Star Wars is a icon to many .. Avatar? I saw it once and said eh ... Star wars is what 40 yrs old and still kicking for the younger crowed ad their now parents like me? you could make one hell of a roller coaster based of it .. talk about a launch vehicle ! Almost like Pirates .. slow at first with some scenes and maybe some live action and then we have to get out of here.. Your video screens in front of you show hans and he says hold on crew .. we got to go .....

I agree...kinda...personally I'm not a Star Wars fan (but I know a lot are) and I've never seen avatar...but if they build avatarland anything like the concept art it could be spectacular and be a huge hit avatar fan or not

How trusted is MiceAge? Are they in bed with someone high-up at Disney, or are they the kind of site that posts stuff they heard from a cousin's college-roommate's ex-boyfriend who worked running the Teacups for one summer in 1998?

When Al was writing? Tony and Georgie were his inside scoop...

Again… Somehow the corporate philosophy with how the theme parks a treated as well as the general direction of the company need to be addressed. This is just a symptom of it. This is something that has grown over the past 15 years. It's not something we can be fixed overnight.

Personally, I think this will happen. Will it happen before I turn 50? I sure should hope so. Will it happen before avatar? No.

I take all the rumors now a days with a grain of salt. Even those that claim in the know don't know all. It sounds like things are in a massive "what is our next big thing" planning period. Hopefully whatever it is is good...and doesn't take until 2052 when my DVC contract expires

We all know how TDO despises spending money, and by shipping the MSEP back to California, they probably avoid the cost of a necessary refurbishment. Also, since Disneyland hasn't always had a nighttime (light) parade, they also likely assume they can get away with running the new Festival of Fantasy parade in the afternoons and evenings. So, unfortunately, that rumor makes sense - but events should never have turned out like this. Walt Disney World previously had its own copy of the Main Street Electrical Parade, and then of course had SpectroMagic. Both are now gone, leaving Florida with nothing.- I so hope the line at guest relations, after seeing Festival of Fantasy twice in one day, is longer than the line for MM+ issues.

Good grief...nothing is gone and nothing is leaving....this is pure rumor and speculation. Could WDW get an overseas nighttime parade if they shipped off Msep?

The problem here Dads is that things havnt been so swell at the swamps. Once people hear something like this, its a "here we go again"....can you really blame them? Oh that's right....I forget who I was talking to....sorry. But those who have been around for a really long time are war weary. We have fought the good fight, we have believed in magic. They just keep giving us the golden shower down our backs and telling us....it always rains in Florida.

...and you believe everything you read on the net?

So if there was a rumor about a massive overhaul at DHS and world showcase would you believe that?

I believe a lot more is going on behind the scenes than we know...we just need a green light

Can I ask how A connects to B, they surely can do both at once, if not Disney Springs will be completed 2017 so 2021 perfect time for WDW's 50th I s'pose ...

The very fact they're even considering shipping MSEP back to California speaks volumes....

I question whether it would survive the trip. From what insiders have said (and most of us know) it's in sad shape as it is. Not to mention its a very...uh, antiquated parade.

My eyes did kinda bulge out of my head and I went "Huhhh?" When I read about MSEP being shipped back to CA....
