"But the real substance of the Star Wars Land project, the new rides and shows, are all backfilled into phase two of this Tomorrowland project. And phase two is all still on temporary hold for Disneyland, and appear to be simply cancelled for Disney’s Hollywood Studios out at WDW."

Spirit (@WDW1974), arguably the most reliable poster on here, essentially addressed this a month ago. He suggested Dusty at al. at Michchat are not misinformed per se, but have jumped to an incorrect conclusion. He went on to state that Star Wars is happening (yes, at DHS too), but it is being delayed as material from episode 7 may be included in the parks. The delay may be for other reasons as well, but Star Wars is in the works. Until I hear otherwise from Spirit, I'm going to believe his info.

When I worked in Fantasyland at Disneyland, I was told ineffective show elements in the attraction were unacceptable. While working Pinocchio one day, a guest came off and told us the fireworks in Pleasure Island weren't working, and we evacuated the ride and shut it down.

While I absolutely agree with you, I think this is way too exaggerated. If they really wanted to handle it correctly, they could have just cycled out the ride and closed it to fix the issue. Why evacuating the ride and therefore putting the Guests in possible risk by walking in backstage areas (and showing them areas they should NOT see in the first place) to do so? In that case, Disneyland's way of handling these situations would be wrong too.

Risk? LOL what risk? Since when was walking through a ride dangerous or was considered backstage? Maybe I'm missing something.

We did cycle out the ride and clear the queue. I should have been more correct, but even if we didn't, there's no danger.

Sadly, I'll never understand why Disney gets beat about for not building things.

They are fixing DTD which is the most needed thing to fix in the entire WDW area.

Funny, it was fine 6 years ago. Sadly the same can't be said for EPCOT Center or DHS. They needed the love more.

They closed the Adventurer's Club - why because fanboi's would hang out and drink cokes, That was one club where they SHOULD have had a cover charge say $9.95 It was immensely popular when it closed and it has been replaced with NOTHING.

I respect your posts but just totally off on this one. You don't pull in $3-5k a night selling Cokes. And it had a $25 cover charge for all intents and purposes. Also, as popular as it was, 8-Traxx and Mannequins were far more popular in real world numbers--they just lack the dedicated online fanbase.

But really, the whole handling of PI in its last 5 years was one bad decision after another.

Disney needs a stream of C tickets at each park to keep them 'fresh' We'd all love a E ticket every year but thats not realistic 1 every 3-5 years is realistic - UNI is playing catch up but that will end at some point but Disney seems bent on charging more for the same stale experience. At some point the momentum WILL shift to UNI if Disney stays on the same course it is currently maintaining.

Alright, back to agreeing with you. ;)

God bless the "Ignore" button.
It took Seven Dwarves a little more than twice as long, and theme-wise it is light-years better than the ugly box that is Transformers.

It's an indoor attraction in the middle of a park; I think it'll do.
Besides, it's what's inside that counts. ;)

Please, you're as much a mysterious enigma of the Magic boards as the Spirit!

Please! I'm as open of a book as anyone else on a message board can be, right? Hell I had my picture up for a while ... wait I mean I DO have my picture up. You don't believe I'm the Bizarro universe Lou Mongello!

Ask me anything!

Can you expand on this? I don't see how they are related. How would construction at Disney Springs impact DHS?

I can understand it is changing the entrances to DHS is the first step in any expansion there. As others have pointed out, the main tollgate and entrance to the parkin lot is a street that runs right next to the SoA and Star Wars stuff, so changing the entrance road could allow for the current street to be used for in park stuff. OK. But what does that have to do with the Disney Springs project?

Money.

Ive been told that they are not going to start work on DHS' main entrance until Disney Springs is done.

Magic Bands aren't supposed to be a draw

Neither are free buses from the airport.. or towels on your bed.. or hidden mickeys. They are all examples of elements Disney weaves to try to shape your expectation of what a theme park vacation should be.. and in turn bias you to want to vacation with Disney and not others. The system aims to alter how people approach these vacations... just like FP altered the way people expect to manage waits in the parks.

They are more than differentiators - Disney is trying to change the expectations people have.. and in turn create distance between themselves and the competition.

Unfortunately... they are simultaneously creating the wrong type of gaps in other areas.
