Look the yeti taking a swipe at you was very cool but if you didn't look up in those 2-3 seconds you didn't see it move because you were moving and shaking around a lot too. Do I wish they'd fix the dang thing absolutely but do I think the disco strobe yeti is bad...not at all. It goes by so fast and you're already disoriented plus moving up towards this big yeti creature....what they have today works just fine. If the yeti had never moved and been in this mode all along no one would complain about it

Just my opinion

The Yeti is one of those details that set Disney apart. There are thousands of things around that parks that most people wouldn't consciously notice if they were missing, but it is the sum of these things that make Disney Disney.

Just my option.

Fair enough - Then TWDC should not make the Yeti the centerpiece of the AK on vacation planning video and 'Destination America' Disney propaganda films. If they continue with that then 'Disco Yeti' is a fine club to whack them with.

Not to nitpick ( which is a funny turn of phrase to start a statement when I am immediately going to nitpick :p), but Avatar, Seven Dwarfs, and Disney Springs were all announced in the last three years.

I was speaking to specifically the parks, and/or items that would motivate people to make a trip (while Disney Springs may be great I find it hard to believe anyone is making a trip because of it).

As for Avatar and SW Mine Train ... Both were announced in 2011. Late Summer maybe? So two and a half years ...

I wouldn't make a trip JUST for Disney Springs. But the idea of a bustling PI, may tip the scales if I am debating a trip. WDW should be more then just the sum of it's parts(Rides).

The only way you missed that thing was if you kept your eyes firmly closed, otherwise there was simply no missing it. The only reason you could make any kind of argument, and it is a very, very weak argument, that it works "just fine" today is because its been broken for so long that a lot of people don't even realise its there. It was an incredible piece of innovation, the incredibly detailed and immersive queue and the rest of the ride all build up to this encounter that never comes. I like the ride very much but its hard not to feel short-changed by that.

If you were lucky enough to witness the Yeti in all of its former glory then Disco Yeti is never ever, ever going to be good enough.

Yes and one ride has nearly been completed. Which in my mind is quite sad ... DS should be much further along ... oh wait outside of Starbucks do we know any others ... not including the list Disney hoped would bite the bait... Then there is Avatar, which has just started clearing the area.

Agree, you can also feel the rush of air as the Yeti makes a swipe at you.

I'm not sure if call it extreme innovation. It was an oversized animatronic with a fast arm movement.

Again, that is different than saying nothing is going on. It's just not going on as fast as we would like. We do not know anything about the internal workings of who is or isn't interested in Disney Springs, and as far as we are aware, it's on schedule for it's proposed timeline.

Pace is something to talk about, and Universal sure has the hotfoot on to try and capitalize on it's recent successes. But Disney does not need to rush. They have no need to incur the construction costs in one specific timeframe. Right or wrong, they are building at the pace they see fit to build, and along the same pace as nearly every other project they've constructed in recent memory.

People are still coming to Disney in large numbers. People (using the larger sense of the word here) are not giving Disney a reason, yet, to feel the need to advance their construction timelines. At this pace, they will have a completed New Fantasyland, and then a revamped Downtown Disney, and then a fully realized Pandora, each probably around a year apart from each other. That is likely enough to keep "People" coming. If not, they will decide to push ahead with one of the many expansions they have in the can already.

It was an incredible piece of innovation to not only construct something of that size and intricate detail but to also get it to operate as it originally did. You're underselling it quite significantly.

I've seen it in A mode many times in person. It is very cool don't get me wrong but innovative would be finding a way to make it work today.

The detail of the yeti is very good too (with or without any motion)

These fast(er) moving animatronics can now also be found in pirates, spaceship earth, and mermaid as well

Well if Pressler era TDO had not cheaped out on the mounting base for the Yeti it would probably still be working after all the problem is a cracked concrete and steel mounting base not a fault in the Yeti mechanical and hydraulic systems.
