I asked in the bug's land closing thread earlier; anybody expecting anything from the disney parks blog tomorrow? They typically don't close one thing without making up for it with a coming soon announcement or sprinkling of more information. Even when they opened Pixar Pier they announced the inside out neighborhood details.

I’m not expecting anything big. I don’t think they know what they know what they re doing yet. If we get something, it ll be more vague BS

There's construction equipment on site, but the show building is still there for now.

So there hasn't been any demolition or work done on the interior? That's really disheartening if true. Why on earth did they close ITTBaB so suddenly then? I had assumed it was because they projected a 2019 opening for an attraction that hadn't even broken ground yet and every second counted.

The first phase of Marvel land will open in 2020. I’m not sure if any interior work has occurred yet. Closing ITTBAB early was a cost saving move and not a timeline crunch necessity.

They’ve harvested anything deemed useful in the theater, correct? I thought I heard somewhere that something from the DCA version was sent to Orlando.

Here's what we know. As posted in the Permits thread, they pulled permits from Anaheim for preliminary interior demo. Basically it was to remove any equipment (sound, lighting, etc.) that could be re-purposed or any valuable proprietary equipment. I'm told the Hopper AA was visible outside one of the green buildings backing up to Harbor Blvd. I also hear there are construction fences around the back entrances to the theater, and recently chain link fencing around sections of the backstage area to dig up the asphalt. Don't thank me, it's all better informed friends here and my Bothans.

EDIT: Sorry for the sloppiness. I believe there is at least one more permit that relates to further (heavy) demolition of ITTBAB. There have been posts by others that this is likely the location of the first attraction to open in 2020, with the larger attraction South of MB. I hope we'll see some detail at this year's D23.

What’s truly dispiriting to me is not the posts or opinions that speak of current Disney parks management in such negative tones, but that it is seemingly all true.

The parks are such an integral part to the DISNEY BRAND, and they mean so much to so many people, it’s a real shame that Disney doesn’t care enough to honor and preserve the history and integrity of the parks.

I’m not not talking about keeping them as museums, but simply not pimping them out at every turn, and caring enough to hire a truly talented, experienced team that will have the vision required to manage such a beloved , important piece of American culture.

You are not wrong, but it hurts my soul that you've attached this fervour to Heimlich's Chew Chew. It deserves to burn.

Sorry, meant 2020 not 19. Good to know. So should we just expect Phase One to open without an attraction? That sounds like lunacy. They can't possibly spin MB as not only the anchor, but the ONLY attraction in 2020?

Did I? I didn’t intend to. Heimlich is a terrible attraction and another one of those Disney decisions that make you go “Hmmmmmmm”.

NOOOOOOO!!! LEAVE HEIMLICH ALOOOOOONE!!! /internetmeme

C'mon, people. Hasn't anyone here taken their children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews on the kiddie rides? Even my much older brother who is in his '80s thought it was cute with our 6-year-old twin great nieces. When I was a boy in the '60s we always had to ride in the Monkey Car on Casey Jr. Today, it was the Chinese takeout carton on Flik's Flyers. I love walking through Flik's Fun Fair. I could do without the bumper cars, but otherwise I thought it was fun.

Yeah, I took my kids on it, and they looked at me like I was crazy for subjecting to something so horrifically boring. 😁

As it stands right now, Marvel land will open in 2020 with no new rides. Entertainment, food, stores, characters, no rides. A new E ticket will go in eventually.

What a joke. So only 1 E ticket is Greenlit? Or is the Spider-Man ride not an E?

Welcome to “we can’t call it Marvel” Land. Enjoy our new meet n greet and the net loss of attractions.

To be the devil's advocate, New Orleans Square also opened with no attractions. Not that I'm saying this will be anywhere near that level of quality.
