Avengers 4!

If that runtime is true (and it might be now, until they delete some scenes), I’m not upset. This movie is going to be the swan song of Steve Rogers, probably Tony Stark and Loki (in film at least), and possibly the Hulk, Thor, and Clint Barton. I want character beats to have weight. In Infinity War, I would have loved to have had a couple more minutes with Vision & Wanda, and Steve & Bucky (just more Bucky Barnes in general please).

For A4, I don’t want moments to be rushed or glossed over. I want the characters to have time to gel with each other.

I loved Infinity War, but unlike the characters that were in space for most of the movie, I feel like the action on Earth could have used some slower moments (I know that this wasn’t Steve’s movie, but it would have been nice to have had an extra minute with him talking to Bucky, Nat, Sam, T’Challa...)

Oh, I want more than one scene that breaks the Bechdel Test. You hear that Marvel? Give me a scene with with Pepper, Nat, Okoye and Shuri (or Nakia), and one with Carol, Valkyrie, and Nebula. If the movie is going to be three hours long, you can fit multiple scenes with ladies talking to each other (GotG2, IW and BP barely passed the test, this movie is going to have 3 women in starring roles plus side characters, c’mon Marvel).

Joe Russo says we may not get a trailer this year

.... and still no title
These 2 things kind of bug me. Sure the movie really doesn't need any info given or promotion to be a success. But it doent hurt to get everyone all fired up with a teaser early. The force awakens trailer was a full year before release. Disneys promotional department just seem really bad at their jobs the last few years. They said they have had the title for a long time so why hide it? Why not release a true teaser that just has a few scenes and the title reveal right now? The secret squirrel mentality is just getting kind of old.

I think the idea is that Infinite War has provided that teaser already. Anticipation for this movie is already high, arguably higher than any other movie. You risk a lot if you pour too much more out there. It would be very hard to argue that Disney does not promote their Marvel movies correctly right now.

Deer Hunter could have easily been 40 minutes shorter, to play Devil’s Advocate (against myself, because I am pumped about a 3 hour Avengers finale).

Its under 6 months till theaters and we have had nothing. So I don't think at this point you risk anything. I'm not asking for 3 trailers and a bunch of TV spots. Yes Marvel has done well with promoting but the crazy secrecy just annoys me a bit. I mean why is there no title? At this point you should have just left it as part 2. My guess is they don't want to step on captain marvel just like we got nothing Solo till after last jedi.

And besides satisfying your needs, what good would it really do? People are already clamoring to see it. For the most part, people that want more now are also the same people that are already going to see it regardless. Infinite wars is exactly that. First the movie coming out 1 year before the next movie, then the DVD/Blu-ray/4K/digital releases of that movie, and with the little eggs in Ant-man and the asp, and eventually Captain Marvel -- these are huge promotional things without them spending money from a dedicated account. This is a dream for a studio. I understand the fan in you wants more, but from their perspective (from the standpoint of will doing it now help with getting more excitement for the film and from a financial standpoint) it just doesn't make sense.

Oh I get what you are saying. But they are going to spend that money either way. If they release a teaser now or with captain marvel, it will cost the same. So if you go by what you are saying, we should see a push in march? That's too long. The smart thing would have been to release the teaser a month ago, then advertise the full trailer will debut with Poppins in December. That would make financial sense since Disney has high hopes for that movie.

The trailer has to come out with Poppins, right? There’s nothing coming out in January or February, and like you said, putting the first trailer out with Captain Marvel definitely seems too late.

Another option would be to release the first trailer on the night of the Super Bowl (a true release to make it an event, without posting it online a few days before). That’s still 3 months before the movie comes out, but it would take some of the excitement out of Captain Marvel’s release the next month.

Yeah idk what they’re going to do, because I’m not seeing great options.

Wasn't there just a report from one of the directors that said no trailer before 2019?

TheDisInsider is an Instagram account that always reports stuff about Disney movies. They are usually always right! So they are doing a Q&A right now and said some interesting stuff! (You might see this message on other threads lol)
