AVATAR land - the specifics

Can someone tell me if the trees above and behind the wolf-like creatures on the log are projected on the screen, or is there more physcial scenery back there? I'm trying to figure out if we're seeing "squinching" correcting for perspective on those projections, because I don't see how you would do that on a free-floating boat ride.

Yes. In the video, you can see the screen ends at the log and you can see physical plants behind it. Real depth under the log, screen depth above it.

that part makes it look very unrealistic; dark blue forest above the log and pure black under it. It caught my eye when I was watching the video as well. A small plant there can make a world of difference.

Watching the video at 1080p full screen and I can't see any filaments holding up anything. I mean, I am sure that is how it is done, but it seems far from
Is it just me, or did that video also have a lot of filler time by showing the young girl looking on in awe? Seemed like every ten seconds it would cut to her with that look on her face for another ten seconds.
I think what you're seeing isn't quite a promo, but a promo package. These are usually a collection of scenes that a news broadcast would pick and choose shots from while a reporter talks over the images.

The site that shall not be named is reporting that Animal Kingdom will offer Evening EMH nightly from May 27th - July 4th. Anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor?

Yeah, it is clearly "b-roll" footage. The version of the video posted in the new section doesn't even have sound. Looks like other sites added a soundtrack.

On the Disney site, DAK is open to 11p on Memorial day weekend and until 10p for the summer. So, if they do have nightly EMH, it would be til midnight each nite.

I guess this is a way to relieve the burden. Most people would want to see Pandora at night, so it make sense to have extra hours.

So here's how I understand the land:

The land takes place a generation after all the conflict in the five movies. Alpha Centurai Expeditions have setup a human friendly area in the Valley of Mo'ara. The ACE travel guides have helped setup the area to celebrate Pandora and the Na'vi, but generally the Na'vi are unwilling or unable to go to the Valley of Mo'ara. The notable exception to this is the Na'vi Shaman inside Na'vi River Journey.

At the entrance of the land is the Baja Tickler plant that helps detoxify the atmosphere and make it suitable for humans. However, because Flight of Passage takes guests outside of the Valley of Mo'ara, we need to utilize our Avatar's to safely breath the air. That's why we need to use the link chairs.

Can anyone with a better understanding of the land confirm?

That plant must somehow be human made then. No way it's natural because for all we know an atmosphere that's ok for us is toxic to life on Pandora.

Well, we'd also need to use Avatars to fly a Banshee just because a human is (1) too small and (2) not able to make a neural link to the creature. Only a Na'vi could ride and the only way to "be" a Na'vi (per internal consistency of the movie) is to be connected via an Avatar.

That's one of the things I liked about the movie. Yeah, the plot is basic no doubt, but the thought put into why things are the way they are on Pandora is not. Low gravity allowing for taller, slender creatures, bioluminescent plants due to darkness created by the planet blocking the sun, the amount of time it takes just to get there from Earth, etc. There was a lot of work put into the "reality" Cameron created about the Pandoran moon.

I think the whole land was made by humans;) Joe just looks alien with all that crap hanging from his ear. I'm pretty sure he's human though;)
