Based on the information from this article it seems like it confirms that we will be riding on a tron cycle like vehicle that we straddle because it still mentions feeling the banshee breathe beneath you. On that GMA segment this morning where we saw them sitting in seats on FoP must have been the handicap accessible vehicle like people were speculating .
Watching it again, you can see that the backrests behind them don't continue down the row, so there's validity to the theory of those being handicapped seats.
What got me most excited in the article are mentions of creatures big and small throughout. There was a video that showed bat-like creatures though they weren't shown moving. Hoping for some exterior animatronics.

Not sure what you are getting at. In the GMA segment it's very possible they were sitting astride something. It's seeming more likely that what you sit on will not actually look like a Banshee but effects will be used to make it feel like you are.

If that's the case then the prototype photo was far more desirable imo. Does anyone know for certain what the seating will be? Am I riding on a banshee or a chair.

My guess is that you start off in a lab straddling a seat that looks nothing like a banshee. There is a wall that comes down in front of all the seats, blocking the screen. There is probably some type of effect where it goes dark and you go into your Avatar body. Your bench breaths beneath you and the screen/world is revealed.

Not what they showed. The "lab" is to create your avatar so you can withstand the forces and environment experienced when you ride a Banshee. Puny human

There is definitely going to be a wall the hides your view of the screen while you are boarding. You can see it here:

You are not riding a Banshee, your Avatar is riding the Banshee, but since you have a Neural Link with your Avatar you share the same experiences as your Avatar
I understand the story my issue lies in the experience. Riding on an animatronic banshee vs riding on a bicycle seat with cool features to mimic the sensations of being on a banshee are two very different experiences.

The land to me from the video looks OK during the day, didn't really get to see too much night time footage where the land really takes off I have a feeling. Honestly I could care less about how fast the water comes down off of the rocks, I wasn't expecting super slow-mo water effects. I really hope the boat ride has more to offer then the short clip that was shown, if not all this is going to be is a glorified Living With the Land ride except waaaay shorter. The footage from the FOP ride was exactly what I feared (but expected) Soaring 3-D.

I hope I'm wrong with my predictions and the rides and land are really something truly unique, otherwise DAK will remain a half day park at best.

Per the projection discussion: The most important thing to me that they do not render in any motion blur. It's a great effect for CG in films, and helps it look more filmic and realistic. However, on a simulator, like in Star Tours, it's disorienting and makes me conscious that I'm viewing a movie. Universal dials down the motion blur on their rides, but Disney doesn't/hasn't. I hope that'll change with Flight of Passage, especially since it's supposed to move you around more.

I'll put your worry to rest.....wrong on all accounts except for the both ride being shorter than land

Does Na'vi River Journey have a linear story (something goes horribly wrong?) or is it more like a Pirates type ride?

The glasses we saw in Flight of Passage appear like they could have an augmented reality component. Is that the case?

So, I traveled all this way to Pandora, walked among the plants, traveled the river and now, I have to be connected "virtually" to my avatar to go flying? How does that make sense continuity wise? Couldn't we have just gotten a damn roller coaster with a Banshee looking ride car and track that swooped thru the floating mountains?

Or did we Disney just solve the land's capacity issue, by basically making you jump back to "earth" leaving Pandora behind for the research station for one "last" experience a neural link to your avatar for the flight, then exit to the gift shop to buy our A.C.E branded mugs and be dropped back into Haramabie....

I think HPATFJ is still going to take the cake for fully immersive ride experiences. Sadly.

You obviously didn't pay attention to the film

The waterfalls break any sense of forced perspective with the centerpiece. The speed of the water and scale completely detract from the idea of distance

Yeah, it does a bit at that. But, as mentioned, so does the train entering the side of Mt. Everest making the train look like it's being ridden by 100 foot giants.

The one fall that hits a rounded stone and spreads out looks a bit better for the forced perspective since if it really was a very tall waterfall, you'd expect the top to look a lot narrower than the bottom. So, if Disney wants to 'fix' this, they can add more spreaders.

Another way to fix it, which will probably only work at night, is to project onto the waterfalls a slower motion of water at the top of the falls.

They are supposed to be in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023, but they haven't even started shooting yet so I am skeptical they will get the first one out in 2018.

Cameron stated about a month or two ago that the scripts for all four movies are finally done. This means when they start shooting, they could also get in the work for the follow-up movies done at the same time. So, if the first one is delayed again, at least we know that the following sequels won't also be delayed.
