AVATAR land - the specifics

The Cameron/Whoopi tour offered a few intriguing things:
  • The Timeline of the land is after the movies and humans and Na'vi are on better terms. However we were also told that the Na'vi Shaman was the only one that would speak with us, that seems to be conflicting
  • Whoopi and Cameron entered through rock work. I suspect this was just for show, but it would be nice if they built in a true "reveal" of the land.
  • Some confirmation of glowing paths

From all these teasers, it looks great - and epic in scale. Perhaps a bit light on actual rides (two). Nevertheless, it'll absorb a lot of people, no doubt.

What I'm more excited about is between Avatarland and Rivers of Light - AK is much more exciting at night and will see more/longer night hours as a result!

What.. are we supposed to close our eyes except when in 'approved LuvTheGoof angles'? You guys are so eager to defend everything you try to find any angle to tear down simple observations.
Except it's an observation not based on reality. You haven't seen it in person. But I know that you just want to bash everything Disney does lately, so I guess it's to be expected that you would base your opinion of the area on a video, instead of waiting until you can actually experience it.

Oh, I didn't realize ABC is going out of their way to create camera views and sight lines just so they can screw with people on TV! zOMG how did I not realize this??

These videos... they're fake news!!

The views that inspired the comments are all perfectly valid and just seen walking around the place. Yet you want to come up with some obscene reason you shouldn't actually look at what is being shown.. because.. it's not real..

If you are amazed by the views shown in the video - 'good me too!!'
If you are anything but amazed - 'its not reality'

That's how your retorts are coming across.

Wow, when did I ever say the video wasn't real? I merely mentioned that maybe you should wait until you actually experience something before bashing it into the ground. But I know that's not your way, so it's OK.

So why haven't you corrected everyone who thinks it's great based on what they've seen in the video?

And why can't I have comments that are anything but stroking Mickey? I never 'bashed' it..

Pretty sure you are the only one to talk about pink flamingos in front of a mansion.

I have no problem with comments once you have actually experienced something. The reason I picked you out, is because you are constantly tearing down everything they do lately, without actually experiencing it.

No, it's because it's against your thoughts... and you'll just make up crap to try to justify your disagreement. Your justifications are bunk as is your objectivity. Which is why you defend based on conclusions instead of listening to the actual conversation.

Ok first, (not to rub it in - but like i said years ago), this looks like one of the most amazing lands to be churned out of anywhere in a long time.

Second, pretty sure based on what I've heard from people involved that the projection tech is just very high end (but essentially normal) projection tech. Likely some variant of 4K, maybe 8K, HFR laser - probably Christie. The glasses do look a bit more like active 3D vs passive 3d - which would be great if true, because it gives a better effect with no color shifts and completely ability to move your head around, but they've only ever been used in the Disney Quest pirates attraction - soooo no idea if that's likely. A lot more expensive and easy to break. They're definitely not stock Dolby-vision like has been the trend lately with star tours and universal. I think I did hear rumors swirling about AR, but as far as I know that tech just isn't where it would need to be for an attraction. I'm gonna hope its active 3D.

Maybe I'm wrong but somewhere I read 10k.

Also the discussion about waterfalls - bit conflicted on it. Yes the water detracts a bit from the forced perspective, but on the other hand it adds a great deal to kinetics and the feeling of the land. No one would believe the mountains are as tall as they are in the movie anyway. I think the water effect at RSR works extremely well there, and one would hope in person it works just as well here. Even if it does detract from the perspective some, I'll take the added elements and effects over their absence (and god would people here complain if there was no water). Foilage will grow in, and is already looking pretty good for being just planted. Unfortunately that always takes time.
