AVATAR land - the specifics

I believe its been said the Shaman will be the main AA but you might see some other moving things. They might not necessarily be AAs though.

Really?? That's disappointing. I would of liked to have to seen some creature AAs. So does this mean the shaman may be the only AA in the whole land. I would of assumed the boat ride was the opportunity to showcase some cool AAs

Yep, one major AA. The boat ride is relatively short and will feature the bioluminescence, screens, and the Shaman AA.

So I'm the new photo @wdwmagic posted on the main page it looks like fog around the mountains. Was the picture just taken early in the morning on a foggy day or is there some sort of fog misters to give the sensation the mountains are in the clouds?

I think they are afraid of humans;) We did show up on their planet and shoot the place up in an attempt to snatch up their natural resources.

True but from the TV Previews on The View and GMA it looks to be set "in the future," as in 4 sequels later where the humans and Na'vi have made-up and teach the world to sing peace and harmony... and share a Coke, or sing Koom-by-ya by or something. (At least that's what James Cameron told Whoopi on The View this morning). ;)

I just see it like this...

You go to Magic Kingdom and you want to see Mickey (and of course hug Goofy). ;)

You go to Star Wars Launch Bay/Land to see Chewbacca/Darth Vader/Storm Troopers.

When you go to Pandora, you want to see Na'Vi - walking around, not just at the end of a boat ride.

From the preview on The View it looks like there's some kind of projection of a large "scary" cat-like creatures on the boat ride. Looked well done and not cheesy.

Except, you really don't see Mickey. You see someone in a giant Mickey suit. We've been trained to think that that is a fairly good representation of the cartoon Mickey, but if you really did an objective comparison, you'd see how off the costumed person is because you don't have 3 foot tall people with impossibly thin necks and limbs available to portray Mickey. And you don't see realistic portrayals of dragons or maleficent because of the impossibility to do that realistically... for now.

And so, you have the same problem with the Na'vi. You don't have nine foot tall people with impossibly thin necks, waists, and limbs (thanks to lesser gravity) to portray them. And a suit would make it worse.

Sometimes the IP makes it impossible to portray certain characters in the real world in such a fashion that they're walking around amongst us.

What Mickey "suit?!" ;)

True, but I should have predicated my "you" with "the kids" - either way, I think the general public would want to see some M&G and it would be cool if they could develop some kind of stilted costume.

Since the character is so large... they could have a costumed, stilted character that still had the slim build. But will they? Disney hasn't done it for m&g much... while uni did for transformers.

You are not riding a Banshee, your Avatar is riding the Banshee, but since you have a Neural Link with your Avatar you share the same experiences as your Avatar

Yes this is the key part to the experience.

Guests will be riding in a "link-chair," which will link the rider with his or her Avatar, with the Avatar actually riding the banshee. The "link-chair" is somewhat like the glider mechanism in Soarin'. Guests will not actually be sitting on a banshee.
