I think you are thinking of this pic:

not this pic:

Here is an Inside the Magic video showing the concepts released this weekend. It includes the original picture I posted.

So I think you are wrong on this one.

Nope, November 6, 2015. Never question me again.

As long as I did that, here's another, with green showing where I think the screen is.
I left the Thanator as an AA, but I think the other things in the background are on-screen.
I hadn't noticed before but the upper left of this image seems to be that Na'Vi dreamcatcher
thing that's on the right in the other image. Guessing that the twirling glowy lizard things are
going to be hanging, spinning, practical illuminated props.

I bow down!;)

However, the video you posted in the other thread was also old. So I just thought you had missed this one as well. My bad.:)
The video I posted in the other thread was also indicating this wasn't the first time we saw the Na'vi animatronic. I track this stuff in order to win arguments. I think my wife does the same thing in her head.

Right, I remember freaking back when I saw the eye open the first time. I believe this was also the Shamen AA we saw in more detail this weekend. I think it looks great!

Wives are good at that! :D

If that is the case, I assume they are following in line with the concept behind the movie. Jake Sully never actually does any of the things he experiences in the movie - his avatar does. I am guessing that they will be playing with that concept and "tech" from the movie to allow us to fly through the jungles of Pandora. I guess that I never thought about that type of an approach before. If only I could see into the future like JT does I would have known all of this already.

I still think that I will love this ride regardless. What is the pixie dust equivalent from the Avatar universe? I think that I suffer from it at this point.
That would make sense...

Cheap? Try practical. Realistic, even.

I swear some people would have been disappointed if it was anything short of bioengineering a living, breathing version of a fictitious character to ride on.

If you read my Avatar posts you will know I am more positive about this project from the very beginning then most people. I have always been skeptical that they would make it really feel like you were riding a Banshee because I didn't know how they would pull it off, but I was hoping Disney could surprise us by doing the "impossible".

Yes, but even the "impossible" has its limits. And thinking we'd be riding an actual AA is one of them. Calling it "cheap" is response seems just a tad silly when I very much doubt that was the problem in any real practical sense

I understand that, that's why I was hoping Disney could pull that off. There was a time when Disney was very good at doing things that people would have thought impossible.

Maybe your expectations have grown unrealistic? I would argue Disney still does the "impossible," but I'm sure even back in the 50s, people were capable of dreaming more than what technology or other practical limitations allowed

With that said, the ride hasn't even come out yet. So who knows how effective--or not--riding a Banshee really is

Iger's quote...

"“It felt so real, so lifelike,” Iger said of the prototype vehicle guests will board to travel through the fictional land. “There’s never been anything like it. The vessels that guests will ride upon will essentially be the banshees themselves, with bodies that move to mimic a breathing beast."

For a $1 billion plus, I expect my unrealistic expectations to be met. ;)
