AVATAR land - the specifics

I don't know either way, but I always took it when Iger said it, that it would feel like you were riding a banshee. Not that you would be, maybe you would be but maybe you would just move in front of the screen like you were on one. It would be cool if the ride vehicle was one and I would be pleasantly surprised, but I don't think it has every really been confirmed that the ride vehicle is an actually banshee, just that the ride vehicle/ride would make you feel like you were riding a banshee.
I believe that the film for the attraction is in 3D so the banshee will pop out of the screen right below your ride vehicle to give you the impression that you are riding it. That's my guess but I do hope the ride vehicles atleast look a little different from soarin's.

I haven't seen it anywhere on this site, but the site that shall not be named reported a few days ago that CMs in Pandora will have to be proficient in the Na'vi language and culture.
I'm curious. The Na'vi are literally giants. How many CMs do you think they'll have covered in blue paint on stilts versus those portraying civilians/army personnel? Are we talking basic phrases and sentences here, or could cast members get away with gibberish?
Na'vi isn't exactly Klingon or Elvish in terms of popularity, right?

That article was talking about a hiring notice for leadership positions and mentioned that they should be wiling to learn the language, so that doesn't necessarily mean that every CM will also have to speak it.

This was discussed in one of the threads, and my personal feeling is that if they do this, it won't last long.

CM's speaking Nav'i gibberish would last about two weeks. They'll do it for the media events, Disney will get tons of PR for it, and then the land will open to the public and it will last two weeks.

Disney's training is too cheap, their employees are paid too little, and their leadership is too weak to let a major initiative like that last more than two weeks.

It'll be clever for the media previews though.

Perhaps, but there will be some CMs who will always try to go above and beyond and perhaps learn Na'vi. Just like a lot of Star Trek fans are "fluent" in Klingdon just for fun.

Over on the jamboeveryone site (great site for DAK adulators), they put together a nice summary of the Avatar-based pins that were put our for our viewing pleasure the other week. I thought that it would be good to include as it ties together some of the new terms on the pins with some of the locations/concepts of this expansion:

Avatar pins: We have seen a sneak peek at some of the pins that reportedly will be available once (or around the time) Pandora opens. There are several references to Mo'ara Valley and it appears that will be the name of the floating mountain range. There will be a pin for Na'vi cultural representative, again drawing attention to the idea that the cast members will be well versed in the fictional culture and it will permeate the land. The "Mountain Banshee Project: Protecting Pandoran Wildlife" pin certainly tries to bring the conservation theme of the rest of the park to this corner. The Drum Circle pin might give us an idea of one of the entertainment offerings available in the area. The Pandora Cavern Tours must reflect the boat ride concept.

I didnt imagine there was a DAK centric website..

AK has always been a full day park. You seem to ignore that fact. Not everything is about "rides" you know.
To be fair, @S 2 said "complete," not "full day." I think a lot of us are excited to see that area of the park finally get used in a full-blown way--I kind of view the Beastly Kingdom area as AK's Tomorrowland...not open on opening day, but part of the original package. Pandora fulfills the original promise of the AK concept, with the mythical dragon among the real animals on the entrance marquee. It should balance and fill out the AK experience in a way that Camp M-M never did. So in that sense, I would agree that Pandora makes AK a "complete" park, though, like you, I've always considered it a "full day" park.

SO EXCITED to see AK become a 'complete' park after 20 years!!
To be fair, @S 2 said "complete," not "full day."

@Slowjack , well then that's even worse.

A theme park is never complete so long as there is imagination left in the world. Even with Avatar Land, the park will only have a handful of big rides and attractions. Sure, we could argue all day on that, but my point is, DAK still has a ways to go. And there is always room for improvement.

@S 2 , you complain about others' negativity, yet to say that a park is complete is awfully lacking in optimism.

Very well said. In a park like AK, it's easy to find and develop new attractions that are current and relevant. A few subtle changes near Dinosaur can also help make a difference. These will lead to expansion in another area to help round out and spread out guest experiences. AK is a young park comparatively speaking. The next 10 years will be quite positive. Next year will be amazing.

What? Are you serious? You understand that "complete" can just mean "not missing parts," right? Of course there's always room for improvement and the parks should always continue to grow. Do you really think that what I wrote means what you are suggesting--that once Pandora is done there will never be any need for anything more or better at AK? Do you think that once Tomorrowland opened at MK I think they should have stopped there? Are you just trolling me?
