AVATAR land - the specifics

Agreed. But -- if something in that vein happened -- I would think it is more likely he was caught and told to stop making posts and that's why we don't see him anymore. If he were fired, he'd probably be here ragging on how awful Disney is.
not unless he signed one of those NDAs?

Me too. I don't know. I know he wasn't thrilled about being called out all the time when he was trying to be helpful. He may show up again someday, I hope.

After this kind of behavior. I am no surprised most "leakers" prefer to just go to Lee, WDW1974 or or other established figures who can take the punching to share the spoils.

The issue was @WDW1974 devotees pounding on him because his info differed from their leader. In the end his info proved to be correct and @WDW1974 's position evolved reluctantly in his direction. It was a shameful display that ran him off, but that's how things go on this board now days.

While I appreciate the info, that's really all I appreciate from certain leakers. They are arrogant and downright rude and ridiculously opinionated- which would be fine if it were not in a demeaning and abrasive way. Just because you leak info doesn't give you the right to be a tool, although, around here, it obviously does. I'd much prefer to hear my info from @marni1971 that's a guy who is humble, nice, and an insider.

how so? I didnt see this.

It was across several threads but there is one that @Tim_4 started in the Avatar sub-forum that contains some of it. It was kind of an ongoing thing but came to a head (if memory serves) when @WDW1974 said that Avatar had been scrapped or was very near to being scrapped and @Tim_4 contradicted this. In the end it turned out @Tim_4 was correct even though I believe that @WDW1974 was as well. Avatar was near dead but was revived. @Tim_4 had the info on the revival before @WDW1974 did, but since they were in disagreement various posters attacked @Tim_4 as a fake insider putting out bogus info.

@Tim_4 could be abrasive in responding to his critics so he bought some of the vitriol directed his way, but in the end he certainly appeared to be the real deal on Avatar insider information. His last post on the board was this in response to someone asking what happened to him:

He stopped having fun so he started posting in sports and politics forums instead.

Turns out he was right.

And with that we lost access to some business side inside information on Avatar.

I can definitely relate to this post. Been there, done that. It can be quite humiliating.

His information is incorrect or outdated.
Good to hear.

I also tend to question construction time line estimates from people that are not familiar with construction. What looks like a chaotic mess that is behind schedule to a layman looks much different to someone that actually knows the trade.

Granted his source might be someone that does know what they are looking at, but I often find those sources do not and just get access to the job site for on reason or another and then deliver an uneducated opinion for the rumor mill to chew on.

Do you have an idea for an estimated timeframe for opening?
I have an idea, yes, but it's based on my own estimations, and not anything I'd want to put out there yet. It's way too early.

does this means they are more delayed? or they upped the construction rate?
Very good to hear, now maybe I'll need to quote your post in the 15 threads that the Jim Hill statement was mentioned yesterday. I swear it popped up in every thread I read.
I noticed that the mention was spreading. I saw @akayw0718 corrected it also. The nature of construction on a large project is things fall behind and get caught up. At this stage there's not much use in talking about several months behind or ahead as long as progress is evident.

Quite correct. A problem on one section often means another section gets started on early.

Jim didn't specify if the 8 month delay is from the original opening date or the updated opening date. Back in 2012, Jay Rasulo said 2015/2016.

after looking at the last piece of concept art and looking at construction pictures it certainly looks like the mtns will top out at what was reported earlier at 143 ft

the rock work on the left is what im assuming we see in those construction pictures is about 90-100 ft tall so the tallest point looks about 40-50 ft taller

I still wonder how they will hold that thing down.
Hurricane winds arent exactly "nice" to structures like that.
