AVATAR land - the specifics

Well, @WDW1974 dropped this bombshell today, following up on his previous nebulous posts:

The odd rumor was that Disney was working on a THIRD attraction for the land. I've been sitting on it (like a fanboi with a favorite Imagineer) for months because no one can confirm. And Disney ADDING attractions to a project is almost unheard of. But I don't like being a tease, so place this strictly in the rumor basket for now. And sorry that I couldn't place out sooner (much like the Marvel Superhero Island redos coming up, I was protecting a source and didn't feel anyone just had to know!!)

Let the speculation begin!

Now to get an updated pictures from the sky

I'm inclined to think that a "third attraction" is something like a walking trail, perhaps using the impressive tech we saw previewed for Pandora (where your footsteps glow on the ground as you walk). I'm pretty skeptical that it would be a third ride given that we haven't seen any work to do that would point to one. So, as I surmised in another thread, if it were a ride it would probably either be (1) small, like a simple flat ride or (2) not going to open with the rest of the land, but coming later. Keep in mind that he said "attraction", not ride.

Of course, that assumes that WDW1974's info is correct, but he doesn't sound too confident in it and no one else has collaborated. So I'm not getting much hopes up... yet.

given the construction that we ve seen so far I would doubt we get a 3rd ride/attraction
im hoping he is right (which he normally is)
I'm cautiously optimistic. It depends on the type of attraction and whether it needs a show building. We know there is going to be a gift shop and food locations but they haven't really begun construction on those things. If it's an outdoor attraction/ride that doesn't require a show building they wouldn't need to start work yet. Or it could be a late opener like Mine Train was.

Your idea certainly makes a lot of sense. As others have pointed out, not all attractions are rides, and what Disney has been emphasizing with Avatar-land is the feeling like you are actually in Pandora. A walk through attraction with interactive elements would fit that story/approach/theme and at the same time be consistent with the rest of Animal Kingdom with its walking trails.

One might say that the boat ride, if that's still the planned second attraction serves the purpose of giving guests the tour of Pandora, so why have a walking trail as well. Perhaps a walking trail could offer more intimate and personal interactive opportunities.

But there is yet another possibility - live, entertainment......the Blue Man Group. :p

I ask where MyMagic+ will influence Avatar Land, and Rohde turns my attention to the model, which is the size of three Ping-Pong tables. He swirls his finger around a tiny section. This little spot is where MyMagic+ will be put to use, in "the most intensive, interactive moments." What about the area’s two big attractions? "Less so," he adds.

I think this is the best hint as to what the 3rd 'attraction' will be. Something that will be interactive & integrate MyMagic+

"Less so" is an amusing concession.

I am interested to see what they do with this area, though I'm anticipating it to be basically a development of what we've already seen at Diagon Alley and the Pirates scavenger game at Adetureland- kid swipes wrist and vines move around and light up or whatever. Maybe that magic pink tree will say your kid's name by "reading her mind" or whatever.

A while back there was a poster Tim_4 that was providing some interesting info about Pandora and DAK in general and he seemed to disappear. I wonder what happened to him, as I miss his posts (at the time, he seemed like the only "insider" who actually had a positive outlook about anything).
last convo was something like this?

I don't know what you're talking about. I am a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan...

You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! Take her away!
