AVATAR land - the specifics

Interesting depending on the boat ride and the simulator ride end up, you could make an argument that either one could be an E-ticket ride. Is the Jungle Cruise at the MK considered an E-ticket? If so, you would think that this ride would surpass that experience. I personally like Soarin' so if it's better than Soarin' than awesome!
My point exactly. If Jungle Cruise is an E Ticket, then the concept for the boat ride looks every bit of JC level to me. Unless it's just planned to be extremely short or something. Even then I would still think D ticket.

They have always been referred to as an E-ticket and a C-ticket.
Keep in mind, that information is from October 2012. It is unlikely that the leaked plans will be exactly what is built.

Also, the concept art of the boat ride was done by Cameron's people, not Disney. I suspect we won't get any more substantial information until the D23 Expo in August.

Looks to be roughly 5 acres. Hard to be 100% sure since we don't yet know how much of the cleared land will be used for the land. There is a total of 9.5 acres of cleared land back there.

... and for anyone interested in doing these sorts of measurements, Google Earth Pro is available for free now and one of the features you get with pro is the ability to measure the area of a polygon. Non-pro version only allowed you to measure lines.

I only know of 2 "confirmed" attractions going to be located in this area, am I wrong? Isn't that a little lacking for such a huge addition. I know there's a dining option and markets as well but seems a little lackluster unfortunately =/

I feel the same way. You would think for a whole new land there would be at least 3. If Cartland in DL is the template - they seem to have gone with 3 - 1 "E-ticket" big/amazing ride, & 2 smaller rides. For AvatarLand they are going with 2 D-ticket type rides. It's all speculation at this point and there seems to be differing opinions on if the boat ride or simulator ride will be the bigger ride, in the end they could both end about the same.

I know I was hoping for an outdoor type ride where you are flying through the forest canopy. The simulator ride is supposed to be sort of like Soarin' but better so it definitely could still be great and E-ticket level. The boat ride is the big wild card. It could be something pretty basic, slow, and relaxing. Or it could be visually amazing with a drop or two to give it a thrill factor, going from inside to outside. No one seems to have details on it at this time.

In a post above, someone said there was originally going to be 3 rides in Avatarland. I am curious to know what the third ride was going to be? Maybe in the future they'll build a third one.

Eh we don't even know all the other things located within this land. two rides, a walk through (heavily speculated), a dining option, multiple stores (gotta make that money) and visuals out the wazoo seems pretty fit for a mini land opening in a large theme park. I am sure there will be some sort of performances within the land also. Diagon Alley opened with similar options and we knew little of what would be offered besides the main rides at this point of time in contruction

To be fair 2 attractions is plenty if done right.....look at hogsmead they redressed two existing attractions and only added one new attraction. (Forbidden journey) the rest was amazing theming and dining +shops and diagon ally only has two attractions but the land is still godly amazing with a boatload of shopping and dining. Attraction count is a very basic metric to measure a park since it doesn't take into account anything else with the park/land in question.

We don't know exactly what will end up in the land, but there might be a third "attraction" in the form of a animal trail and there almost certainly will be some sort of M&G. There's been talk of the possibility of some sort of "streetsmosphere" with Na'vi characters. We'll be better able to assess the land once we know some more specific details. There's an argument to be made that the visuals of the land might be an attraction unto itself -- especially things like the path that lights up while you walk on it.

Also of note, Diagon Alley only have 1 ride in that land (obviously, there was also the Hogwarts Express, but that's not exactly "in" DA) and seems to have just fine.

What's interesting about 2 confirmed attractions is the size of the land is pretty large for just two and now as was mentioned in the Spirited thread, no restaurant is being built, so either there will be lots of empty space, backstage space, or they'll have to load up on streetmosphere to make the area not feel too sparse.

Its true that we don't know everything yet and the "streetmosphere" will be there and the little preview video i saw was promising; I just feel that for a park that is considered "Half Day" aside from the other changes I feel Avatar should provide more. Here's a thought how about an Avatar themed parade to replace the recently lost one at DAK. ( Cant remember the name right now)

Do you have a link to the post where that was said? Personally I am skeptical that they wouldn't put a dining location of some sort in this land.

Yeah, I saw him say that, but I'm extremely skeptical that there wouldn't be an actual dining location in the Pandora area. It might be just a quick service, but there are sure to have some sort of substantial dining (i.e. not just food carts) given the size of the area.
