AVATAR land - the specifics

Yeah, that's what I posted in the other thread. It would be really cool to see it over the entire land but I'm not entirely sure how feasible that is.

On another note, in the past there was a lot of back and forth as to what attractions we were actually getting. Was that ever resolved? I really have my heart set on that boat ride.

I think we are getting a simulator ride and the boat ride, that's what I've heard so far.

This is the new direction of theme parks
DA has two
Carsland two (now)

Unfortunately you're right. But you would think with there just being 2 (although Carsland will get back to 3 next year), you would make 1 of them a big E ticket ride and then another medium level ride (or even 2 E ticket rides). Sounds like we're getting 2 medium type rides.

They have always been referred to as an E-ticket and a C-ticket.

The one we refer to as "Soarin over Pandora", but is supposedly better than Soarin.
Good because Soarin' sucks.

Interesting depending on the boat ride and the simulator ride end up, you could make an argument that either one could be an E-ticket ride. Is the Jungle Cruise at the MK considered an E-ticket? If so, you would think that this ride would surpass that experience. I personally like Soarin' so if it's better than Soarin' than awesome! Still, was hoping for an outside, coaster type ride through Pandora

The leaked plans for the project have the boat ride labeled as a C-Ticket, so unless something has changed it appears they are not trying to get to ambitious with it.

I agree Dan - but one thing that has me pause here is the concept art for the boat ride. That really doesn't look like a C-Ticket (Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo) to me. But that is all we have to go off of right now - leaked blue prints indicating 'C-Ticket' and one piece of concept art.

It's been a while since Disney has built a boat ride at WDW - Maelstrom I believe - and I'd say it was a solid D-Ticket. It'd be nice to see Disney build a large scale, E-Ticket quality , boat ride again. Pandora certainly has the visual style to support it. Hope we get some more art soon. D23 perhaps?

Just like the Mine Train we are starting the whole E, D, C ticket argument again. There are no tickets any more. Are we talking level of thrill, theming, cost to create, demand, throughput. My prediction, both new rides will be in high demand and extremely crowded when they open. Some will like one better than the other and vice versa.

Right. It depends on the length of the ride, combined with the scenery used. There has been reports that some "highly advanced" AAs are being built for Pandora. With the flying Banshee ride seeming being screen based, the most logical location for advanced AAs would be the boat ride.

Furthermore, the footprint of the boat ride -- the already poured concrete -- compares reasonable to longer boat rides elsewhere in Disney. People have overlayed IASW onto the footprint and it looks like the Pandora boat is IMHO about 80-85% of the size of IASW (which itself is ~12 minutes long). I've guessed that the Pandora boat ride is likely in the 8-10 min length.

If indeed we are talking about a 8-10 min long ride with "highly advanced" AAs and presumable some interesting bio-luminescent scenery (would be easier to do more complex stuff in a ride where people won't be able to touch them than outdoors along walking paths) -- I know big "if" -- then I think I would be hard pressed to call the boat ride a "C-ticket". That sounds like at least a "D-ticket" to me.

But we'll have to see what the final product is like. I may be grossly overestimating the features, though with Cameron involved none of this seems unreasonable.

This is the only concept art we have for the boat ride. For all w know the load/unload is off to the right of this picture and it's just a 2 minute loop through this space. Yes, it would look cool, but I wouldn't call that an E-Ticket.

If "ticket" doesn't mean anything anymore, why did they write it on the plans?

No - E-Tickets were (are?) a very specific thing. Simply , the best of the best attractions. Has little to do with thrill level but has everything to do with the level of theming , therefore cost to create, making them high in demand :)

Just to refresh for those that don't remember - here were the E-Tickets at Magic Kingdom.
