Nah... The slogan is a temporary thing based on whatever ride sequence is running. Not including the slogan of the moment makes the poster more timeless imho. :)

Ah, yes, the slogan!

I knew I had completely forgot something from my original sketch, and that's it. However, I know I don't want to use "Fear Every Drop." It's too recent. And like you said, there have been so many TOT slogans through the years with the changes to the ride, you don't want a permanent attraction poster to give any hints as to when it was made. I would use some sort of all inclusive quote from the attraction that won't be changing, like:

"You are about to discover what lies beyond the fifth dimension."

Guess I'll be adding that later tonight. I'm at work right now, so I don't have access to my files. Thanks for the reminder, though.

Also, thanks for all of the compliments, everyone. It's always good to get feedback, good or bad.:)

That's great Zac! Could you tell me how you make the light shine or glow. I had another completely different idea but still can't figure out how to get the glowing effect. Example: Light from a window when it's dark outside. I even downloaded a trial version of photoshop but still haven't figured it out. By the time I figure it out we'll be on Poster Contest #24.

Thanks,
 ACE

P.S. I thought you put up a tutorial on this a while back but couldn't find it.

Hiya ACE.

Yeah, I posted an explanation somewhere around here, but I don't know where either.

Basically, you use the airbrush tool. Choose the color of the light and a round brush about 3 times the size of the light itself. change the opacity of the brush to about 50%, then click once on top of whatever you want to glow. Then choose white as your color, and a smaller brush, and bump the opacity to about 80%, then click once again on top of the same spot. Then, one last time, choose a brush the size of the light itself, change the opacity all the way to 100%, then click on top of the light itself.

This will look exactly like what I did in my poster. The light itself should, 99% of the time, be pure white light. The glowing color around it is what fools the eye into thinking that the light is that particular color. The same rule applies to real life. Look at some of the lights around you right now. Look at the center. What color do you see? Almost always, the answer will be "white".

Hope that helps.:)

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I believe I can do that with my old program now that I've figured out to change the opacity. (I haven't figured out how to work with the layers in Photoshop. I keep messing things up) The layering in my old program is easier to work with. Of course I learned it the hard way too.

Anyway, I have a totally different idea that I think may bring new light (pun intended) to this contest. Geez now I done shot my mouth off. Hope I can back it up.

Thanks Again,
 ACE

I dunno, I don't think you always necessarily need a tag line in a poster...I would have added one to mine, but I fear its just going to make it more cluttered up...knowhutamean?

I say we should have an ameture contest and a pro contest. anyone can enter pro, but people who have an know how to work or use aver 30 layres could not get in.

ACE, you can find many tutorials on Photoshop basics around the internet. Just go to Google and do a search. The layers system took a while for me to get used to too, but it makes the program very versatile.

Since The_CEO criticized me on my originality, here is one of my 3 rough drafts. MSU, you can pick which one should go in the contest.

Hey dont worry DCA. I think your original entry looked great. who cares what it looks like. Disney takes their ideas from other things as well as their own imagination.

Dont worry what others say, if you like your first entry better, go with it! I thought it looked very cool!

Like i said, i'm not going to openly critique someone's work, i'd prefer to do that over IM. I have some overall, general comments a few pages back.

And Zac.... yeah, thats a mic of creepy and disney... heh, i prefer just creepy as hell ala AE. Guess i'm just twisted like that

Good entries, everyone.

I took my inspiration from the Haunted Mansion, as suggested, in its "artsy" look.
