As older attractions are retired.....

With the recent announcement about Snow White's Scary Adventures eventually going by the wayside to be replaced with another related attraction, how soon can it be before other loved attractions like Peter Pan get the same treatment?

Dumbo is getting updated/replaced, Mr. Toad has already been replaced with Pooh, ....... what may be coming for Peter Pan, if anything?

I'm definitely worried for Peter Pan. The writing (projection?!) seems to be on the wall. Although I would imagine CBJ would go first.

Rest assured, Peter Pan is WAY too popular to be replaced. Not only that, but it's a ride system Walt himself helped design (for DL) so that by itself makes it a classic that they won't replace.

Toad was replaced because Pooh is a more popular property.
Snow White is being replaced because they are building another Snow White ride in the new Fantasyland.

Pan should be perfectly fine. It badly needs a major refurbishment, but other than that, it will remain where it's at.

I completely agree. Even during the slowest of seasons, Peter can have a wait time of up to 45 minutes. Its not going anywhere. Between Peter and Tinkerbell, it is overwhelmingly popular with boys AND girls. I think Disney is trying to strike a balance right now between classic and innovative. These changes and updates are necessary if the Magic Kingdom wants to still be relevant in 10 years, not just nostalgic.

I'm not at all opposed to getting a newer, different Peter Pan ride. But I do think the writing is on the wall for it, and I'm sure Jungle Cruise as well. I hate that they had a great film like Aladdin and instead of giving us a unique and exciting attraction, we get the Dumbo-esque flying carpets. That's one of my favorite Disney films and least-favorite attractions.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pan replaced if it were replaced with a much longer and better Pan. Right now I never ride it because the ride line is way too long for the actual ride. If they made a real E-ticket version of Pan with fantastic effects and animatronics it would be fantastic. I don't see how anyone would see that as a bad idea.

As it stands, Pan does desperately need an update. Some of the effects are now laughable.

I think it's safe to assume that NOTHING is safe from some kind of change or replacement. Peter Pan will change one day, hopefully into something longer and more lavish. I don't think they'd change it without giving it a proper replacement (i.e. another Peter Pan-themed attraction), but I could be wrong. After all, 20,000 Leagues was immensely popular and got the axe without any sort of replacement.

Peter Pan is immensely popular and always has ridiculous long lines. Snow White was never a huge draw. I don't think we have to worry about Peter Pan leaving for a while.

I think one problem with Snow White was the location...it was a bit hidden compared to the other rides.

I recall going several times to MK and not even realizing it was there!

I'd be surprised to see Pan closed (although not upgraded at some point). I think the "flying ships" gimmick is much more iconic than anything related to the Snow White ride. (Of course, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was pretty darn famous, as well.)

I wouldn't say anything is impossible, but in my mind, Pan is just maybe one rung below the tier of attractions that are absolutely synonymous with Disney, whether you're a fan or not. (I'd put things like Space Mountain and "it's a small world" in that first tier.) I'd be far more surprised to see it taken out than I am about Snow White.

By the way, I'd like to believe that the "it's too popular" argument is a solid one, but I always wonder how long the line would be for that ride without FastPass.

The real question is why do new rides have to replace old ones. Why can't they just add new ones and keep the classics. There is plenty of room to expand. MK has far fewer attractions than DL, so it's not too unreasonable to have more attractions in the park.

I'm more worried about Jungle Cruise. Why see fake animals when you can see real ones at Animal Kingdom? But it's a classic so I would hate to see it go.

Peter Pan I think will be around for awhile. If they do re-do it, I would still want it to be a dark ride, not completely changed just a more smoother ride.

As for the Country Bears, this might be going. We only go to it every 2-3 trips and there is always room for more people...

I agree. There have been rumblings of a possible JC makeover for a while, but in its present state, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see it go. Its original purpose has been completely overshadowed by AK (same as the now-dead Discovery Island). These days, JC's main role seems to be as a campy fan cult favorite. That makes it vulnerable in my mind.

While I'm glad CBJ is still at WDW, I also have a feeling it's on borrowed time. It just seems odd for MK management to have more patience with a long-in-the-tooth show like this than DL did. There was a decent crowd when I was there for a show last week, but it also seems like more of a fan favorite than a guest magnet.

i dont remember when it was written, but i do know that toad wasnt removed due to poor attendence. it was just as pop as any of the other rides. it was eventually removed because toad wasnt a disney creation, it was (insert correct author here). since disney wanted to add a pooh ride but didnt want to build a new area for it, they put it into toads building, since it would be a pretty easy install.

i want to say r lewis steavenson but i dont think thats right. and i wonder why they never did this in dl, if they even have a pooh ride.

Personally I think it's fine to replace some of the older rides. Seems though it's a case of replace rides and people get upset, don't add new rides people get upset. I was not a fan of SWSA and knew none of my kids would go near it on my upcoming trip anyway. It is def time to get that ride into the 21st century.. replacement seems like the best thing here! Can't wait to see the new ride in afew years!

In the case of Snow White, the mine ride was the perfect additon to the Fantasyland expansion and the perfect property to get the desired effect. They wanted a family friendly thrill which maintains the princess theme but goes beyond it also and broadens the appeal. The mine ride does this. And the current snow white building will likely house a new dark ride in the future.

And as far as DL I will bring up two points:

We have two more themeparks than they do

And although DL has more attractions (maybe by a few), it is also a more crunched and crowded park from what I remember. I don't want that for WDW.
