I had read an article that stated Eli Manning made his fiancee sit in the stands at Lambeau instead of the Luxury Suite the rest of the family sat in. Something about the times that she has sat up in the Suite, he's had horrible games, so he didn't want to be the new Tony "My SO Jinxed Me" Romo. She bought into it so she ended up sitting in the -24 wind chills for him.

Wow, I really respect that. Freeze in the Stands by your man :)

Let me just say this. After yesterday's game...my feelings for the San Diego Chargers have changed...and this is why.

I had previously stated that I thought Rivers was an overrated quarterback. I was proven wrong yesterday, this was a guy that was hurt, limping around on the field, and giving it his all and looked decent doing it. His stock went up in my eyes.

LT...I didn't like him...I can't stand him...but, he's a great player. I take that back. No, he's not a great player, he stinks as a player. Ok, so he was hurt...he was aching. I understand that you don't want to risk injuring yourself. Why not go in and be a decoy? THIS IS LT! Can you get more a decoy than LT? How about cheering for your team when they get a 3rd down conversion? No, just stand there on the sidelines with your helmet on and show no emotion. He's not a good player...a guy like that is horrible for a team. "Classy player?" I think not. I bet he's playing in the Pro Bowl too. He's a "ME ME ME" kinda guy and could give two craps about the Chargers or their fans.

As far as LT not going back in goes, I thought I heard them report that was the coach's decision, not LT's. But yeah, he could have showed a little more emotion on the sidelines, other than "I'm sad because I'm not playing."

On one hand, I'm excited for Eli. Good for him for leading the Giants to the Super Bowl. On the other hand...I feel like it's "one year too late" because Peyton lead his team to the SB last year. Peyton WON the SB last year. No matter what Eli ever does, it'll always be the other Manning brother. Even last nite, the commentators said, "Well, it's another Manning in the Super Bowl this year..." Not just Eli Manning and the Giants. Anyhoo. Congrats to all the teams that played yesterday, no one had anything to be ashamed about. And go figure that the 3rd coldest game ever would go into OT! :lookaroun

Not in everybody's eyes. Down the stretch, Eli has been a much better quarterback than Peyton (this season). As of late, Eli has looked more and more like a professional quarterback and Peyton looked as if he was becoming the whining QB complaining about bad calls because the play didn't turn out the way he expected it to.

Eli Manning and the New York Giants earned their way in. They are playing phenomenal football and are getting through it any way they need to. After the past two games, I am glad that it's New York and New England in the SuperBowl...we all know that it'll be a hard fought battle and it will be 60 minutes (if not more) of soldiers going to war. Right now, the spread is 13 points...I'll take the Giants with the points.

My prediction:

New England over New York 31-28.

When I saw this commercial during the Pats/Chargers game:

I was thinking, "No, we won't be that lucky. We'll still see you in commercials for everything else under the sun all year long." He an Eli are in Oreo Double Stuff commercials now, for crying out loud. I'm waiting to see if he appears on any of the NASCAR cars, or maybe does a commercial for golf clubs when the PGA season starts up...

Exciting Stuff!

The Packer's Giant's game reminded me of the 1980 Bengal's win over the Chargers - The Freezer Bowl. Good times.

Okay - Sour grapes time. Isn't sticking out your leg to try and stop a player, on offense or defense called tripping and gets a 15 yard penalty? The reason I ask is that when Rivers was picked off in the second quarter, he was being tripped by Vrabel. You can not watch that replay and not say it wasn't tripping. Vrabel made a great move to get by the tackle but as he was closing in, Rivers stepped up in the pocket. Vrabel went down and stuck out his leg. Rivers, while being tripped, threw a pretty decent ball that the Patriots player made a great play on. Two plays later, the Patriots score their second TD. In the grand scheme of things, would it have mattered, probably not, but we will never know.

Congrats to the Giants and the Pats. Two teams with the Parcells legacy. Should be fun.

Cut him some slack, Brian. He's marketable, he's well-liked, that's why we see him. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean that the rest of us can't enjoy his work on and off the field. More power to him if he still gets the endorsements. He must be doing something right.

I'm not saying that I don't enjoy some of his commercials. But I think it's kind of like when people get bored with the same teams in the playoffs every year. Eventually those teams end up with a backlash(Yankees, Patriots, Cowboys, etc). After a while I get tired of seeing him what feels like every commercial break, no matter what I'm watching. I know that's not really the case, but it feels like it after a while. Heck, I still laugh when I see the old commercial with him cheering on the regular people doing their jobs. It's just that once I started seeing what felt like a new commercial with him every week, I kinda got bored with seeing his commercials. Sorry if my saying it ticks you off, but it won't change my thoughts on the matter.

Did anyone else think the Giants coach's face look PAINFUL? It kinda looked like he had a sunburn with sunglass marks around his eyes. Either way, it looked like it hurt.

I saw that! I felt so bad for Tom Coughlin.

She did! That's the same reason why Peyton didn't come to the game (Eli lost badly the last time Peyton came to his game, as a spectator).

Just curious. How many of us responding to this thread have played football at the High school or Collegiate level? By played, I do not mean carried someone's jock for the season, killing grass behind the white stripe. . .
