Are you 23?

If any of you want to put this much work into fighting 64, just remember that I was the one who started this and you'll be vastly comforted with the knowledge that I'M the evil elitist fanboy separatist behind this scheme...

Sleep well good friends.

You lost me there. To what work are you referring? 30 seconds to type an off the top of my head commentary? Thats all that was - commentary. No real though, no real *gasp* researching of facts. Thats all there seems to be around here at this time.

For the record, this post took a minimal amount of effort as well.

I agree dave. I have almost all the same memberships save the D23 one and feel the same as you do.

In light of trying to have an intellegent discussion about it, why did you choose to purchase into it? What made the $15 extra dollars worth it? Because it didn't sell itself to me.

What made the extra $15 worth it to me?

A vaireity of reasons played into why I joined, and quite frankly I was on the fence for a while. Which means, at least to me, TWDC priced it correctly. $75 is just about my go/no-go point for the membership, any higher and I doubt I would have paid. If I hadn't joined my comment would have been "It's out of my personal range for value vs. cost" Factors that played into me joining.

1) For me, at this point in my life, $75 is not something that is going to make or break me. I don't run out and spend $75 on a item every day of the week, but I if see somthing that is $75 that I want, it's not something that I have to fret over and try and work into my budget.

2) Keeping me out of B&N is an added bonus, If I walk into B&N I come out at least $100 lighter. In addition to the money, I have run out of bookshelf space :)

3) Charter Memberships appeal to me. Yes it's marketing, yes it's a way to suck people into something. But it is something I enjoy. It's my money, if I enjoy a charter memebership into something then I am wrong for spending my money in a way that brings me enjoyment.

4) I am not a fan of eBay. I am a fan of "If I want to buy something I want to go to a store (or website) and buy it" I may comparison shop for the best price, but I don't enjoy waiting for things to come up on auction, and then decide if its what I really was looking for.

5) I don't do Disney "collections". I don't hang all sorts of stuff on the walls. I don't have shelves with 150 snow globes on them. There are a few Disney articles that are in my house - a throw, a Black Pearl bigfig, cutlery, etc. The merch that is available via D23 appealed to me. I like the design so far, and the sort of understatedness of it.

6) Quite honesty the idea of being a "super fan" never played into it. I figured I would get a magazine delivered to my house, a (hopefully) interesting free gift, some stuff that can go into the "Disney box o' assorted history stuff" and there may be some additional perks down the road.

Those are good point, and valid ones.

I think the main barrier keeping me away was the extras didn't seem worth it. I'm sure there will be that one month when there is something I want that will make me pick up the $75.

Right now, I happy with the magazine and I go to B&N enough that picking it up quarterly won't be a problem.

I will definitely be interested in the perks you get down the road.

Why do I have a feeling that the people complaining and raising a huge stink over this well be members within 3 months? Kind of like how the same fanboys on this site complain about an attraction being announced, and then come to love it and brag about it.

Well, no. Why? The FB group actually gets out to more than just members here. Our FB page already has surpassed the number of members over the WDWMagic social group. It isn't about WDWMagic. Steve's site here is awesome and is THE reason many of us are now friends "in the real world".
Even if I had joined 23 and even if 23 had a forum, it would never compare to WDWMagic, but again, this isn't just about us. There are other true fans out there that like 64. That's all.

So, basically, a FB page was opened to promote anti-D23 sentiment to a larger group of people in the hopes of pushing the DOWN WITH D23 agenda??

So, let me see: You can sign up for free and get NOTHING? No merchandise, no magazine, no membership card or a framable member certificate?? Hmm, not worth the price in my opinion. :) Ya know, getting NOTHING for NOTHING... At least for $75 bucks, I'd get SOMETHING....

You're killing me... :fork:

1st off, no "Down with 23" agenda. We don't like it, but are not calling for its failure (at least not on FB).
And... you obviously haven't checked us out... we have had a free Certificate of membership "suitable for framing" since our 1st day. ;)

At this point don't we all know that we love or hate 23? (of course there can be no middle ground on the internets...)
I mean we all love or hate SGE, the Wand, the Hat, AIE....
Both sides have had their say. My side is simple, no way for $75!
Especially when all the benefits (revealed officially anyway) in no way to me are justified by the cost.

Take it as a fun spin on "civil disobedience" if you will.

I get it. All of the 64 nonsense is fun and games. By the way, when I think of 64, I think of those old, not even used anymore Commodore 64 computers. Do you all REALLY want to be known as an outdated brand? :ROFLOL:

And to get wayyyy of topic... if the Commodore is so outdated, then why did the Wii just add it to the virtual console?

I have to leave this thread and get work done...

Before this became big I stated that If EE's the Vice President, my title is Founder & Commodore 64.

If you don't think that's cool, then of course you'll never get 64.

64's are not about nonsense. 64's are about our love for Disney combined with our fighting spirit that can never be kept down and avoided! We kick space, time, and Logic to the curb and make the impossible possible!

That's how Team D-64 rolls!

Like I said, all fun and games. I get it. I was just busting some chops about your little fanboy club. LOL. Because, since the 64'ers can bust on Disney's D23, I can bust on 64. Gotta be able to take it if ya can dish it. Matpez wasn't handling the busting too well. Enjoy your 64 club, and more power to you all for starting one. I think any fanclub is a good idea.

But really, I was only poking fun and joking around. :)

Oh no, I can handle the busting.. but seriously I need to do work on a different computer than this one where I can just keep replying to this thread.... otherwise I keep coming back! (stupid work)

Just joined D23 and I'm VERY excited, being a charter member, to not only be an original member and have bragging rights of a first year member, but, also watch this club unfold from the very beginning being able to take part in everything along the way!

I'm 23!

what I don't understand are those that do not want to join D23 but yet will buy all the issues when they come out. Why not just join the club and save the gas.... I'm just sayin'
