That's a very interesting idea...I think that Rowling may follow that path.

However, Dudley was scared out of his mind twice (with the pigtail in the first book and with the Dementors in book five). Wouldn't he have showed his powers then?

Nevertheless, the potter books (while fantastic) have quite a few plot holes. So maybe, this will just be one of them.
ahh good point, something i didnt think of. is it possible that it takes something MORE to make your powers come out when you are past your eleventh birthday? i might be reaching on that one lol

i have another thought though. she said the title didnt have anything to do with VOLDEMORT. and it was supposed to be the title for book 2... now, in CoS, she did not consider TOM RIDDLE to be Voldemort. sooo maybe we'll see another appearance of the 50 year old memory??

im still sticking with there's something fishy about dudley and petunia (not petunia as much as dudley, but ya gotta keep things open lol)

Well, ok, maybe there's something about Dudley, but the he wouldn't be a half-blood. Both his parents are muggles. And a prince? I don't know...

I still think it's Hagrid. And the explanation for it being the title of 2, well, Hagrid has a prominent role in 2. Maybe that whole backstory of his we get on 4 was gonna be in 2 but then she decided to postpone it.

i suddenly think you could be very right...cause if he was 'royalty' over the giant population, he could order them to help in the war, right?

All right, folks, another batch of news, straight from the source (JK, that is):

- Harry WILL survive Book 7. Rowling says she wouldn't want to be slaughtered by fans if she ended up killing him. She never said what he'll do after school, though.

- There are two questions not usually made about the series that may help to figure out the big secrets: 1) Many wonder why Harry didn't die when Voldemort attacked, but why didn't VOLDY die? and 2) Why did Dumbledore never kill, or never tried to kill, Voldy?

- About Ron and Mione, she says she's given us enough clues. ;)

- She says her favorite characters are Harry, Snape, Dumbledore, Lupin and DUDLEY, which can maybe confirm that big things are in store for the Dursleys after all that ruckus on Book 5.

Not yet... I'm worried, though, cause she's pregnant again. She says it's not gonna get in the way, but we all know how her first pregnancy didn't get in the way of Book 5... She's starting to compete with you!

My mom recons that Dudly will be the Half Blood Prince. That's probably why he's one of JK Rowling's favourite characters. It's prossible that Petunia made a deal with Dumbledore, that if she would take in Harry, Dumbledore would not let Dudly into Hogwarts or accept him in the wizarding world if he had any magical blood in him from the family line from Petunia's sister. So it could quite possibly be Dudly.

BTW, has anyone noticed that when Rowling releases some clue about a character in the up comming books, everyone thinks its Hagrid? I mean when she said that someone was going to die in book 5, everyone thought it was Hagrid, now everyone thinks that Hagrid might be the half blood prince.

I've just heard that John William's won't be doing the musical score to Goblet of Fire because he will be too busy. :(

The guy to replace him is the same composer who did the musical score for Sence and Sensability. ( gosh darn it! I forget his name. )

some one is going to die in the next book... any guesses on who?

Another 'Harry Potter' Character to Die
Oct 8, 8:58 AM EST

The Associated Press

LONDON -- "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling said Friday that one of her characters will not survive the next book in her series about the young wizard.

Asked on her official Web site whether she planned to kill off any more characters, Rowling replied, "Yes, sorry." But she refused to identify that character.

The sixth book in the series, "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince," is due to be published next year.

Potter himself is safe, at least for now.

Rowling has previously said her teenage hero will survive until the seventh and final book in the series, but has refused to say whether he will reach adulthood.

"You have to wait and see whether he survives to be a grown-up," Rowling said in August.

The 39-year-old author keeps the plots of her novels tightly under wraps, teasing fans with morsels of information.

Before the publication of her last installment, "Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix," she said a major character would die. Readers had to wait until the book appeared last year to discover the victim was Harry's mentor, Sirius Black.

Ok, here comes more news:

Mike Newell sai he wanted to be the one to introduce a darker tone into the series but Alfonso Cuarón beat him to it. Nonetheless, he says he'll be adding another "mixture" to the movies. I can't even start to say how excited I am about this... That's why I wanted the whole thing to have only one director. Hogwarts on "prisoner" already looks like a totally different place than on the first two movies, and now we'll probably be getting another "new look". Oh well...

He also said that writer Steve Kloves has managed to script only one movie, and that everything he had to cut from the story because of time issues will be either mentioned by someone or show up as a detail on screen. Supposedly, that will please us fans. Now, I don't know you guys, but I'd rather have 2 movies. I know they're all thinking about the mullah, and I know JK supposedly gives her ok to everything that gets done, but "Prisoner" isn't that big of a book and I felt the movie was pretty rushed. I wonder how they're gonna mutilate Goblet...

^ maybe they should stop making the movies altogether.

At least then, the magic of the universe can be maintained. Some things don't translate well to film. I think Harry Potter is one of these things.

Bah, I liked the first 2 movies the best. I wish that director (Chris Columbus) could direct all of them. I liek the more warm feeling of those two movies, then the dark cold feeling of HP3.

Those were not in the theatrical release.

What missing scenes from movie to DVD? I didn't notice any.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents here...
First off, I agree with those of you who said the first two movies are best. I guess since I watched the first movie before reading any of the books, I've always imagined the HP world looking like it did in the first two movies. The Hogwarts in the first two movies is the true Hogwarts, imo. I understand why they made the third movie darker, as I think it needed to be a bit on the darker side. But I think they could've achieved that without draining the entire film of color and without changing the entire layout of the school. And did you notice the kids hardly wore their school robes at all? What was up with that?
Hopefully this new director will do the fourth book justice.

but "Prisoner" isn't that big of a book and I felt the movie was pretty rushed. I wonder how they're gonna mutilate Goblet...
I completely agree, MKCustodial! I felt the same way about PoA. It's my favorite book of the series, so I felt a bit cheated by the movie. It's slowly growing on me, but I still can't help but nit-pic at several things. Especially the ending :hurl:

FutureCEO, I personally had noticed that those two scenes were missing from the theatrical version, but I hadn't noticed that they were added in. I'll have to go back and check it out! Thanks for pointing those two out. I assume you all have watched the deleted scenes from the special features disc...I really wish they had left the last two (out of the five deleted scenes) in the movie. I thought the part in the book where Sirius got into the boys' dorm added a sense of even more urgency and suspence, and I think had the scenes been left in, they could have added that to the movie as well.

From what I've read (I believe on Muggetnet) the publishers are hoping for a June 2005 release of Book 6. Course, that could've been just rumor. ImaginEAR, will the publishers officially announce a for sure release date in January?
