Any chance this Splash Mountain retheme is cancelled?

They changed the Tiki Room? Isn't it just a waiting area before you go in?

You forgot a few I can think of:

- Thunder Mountain "explosion" scene to replace wobbly rocks that they're afraid will literally fall out and kill people
- Matterhorn replace bobselds, glowing eyes at the top of the hill with screens, Fortress of Solitude crystal scene with junkyard of old ride cars and every classic yeti with new robot yeti that doesn't sound the same for no reason
- Ghost with hat box
- Autotopia now has Awesomo

Yeah yeah I know. There’s some positives. But then my Hungry Bear joke wouldn’t have worked.

Alice upgrades are nice too

I'm not saying they're bad.

However, I still prefer the older version of the Matterhorn. Ghost with hat box made no difference, but wasn't offensive. Thunder Mountain had a good refurb. Hondautopia added bizarre corporate scenes of Awesomo camping in the woods that don't appeal to anyone. Probably the weirdest one.

True. Sometimes I feel like we take the weirdness of older attractions for granted and enshrine their weirdness, but then when modern Disney does something weird like Hondautopia we don't know how to handle it.

Don't forget to add the ruining of the Bobsleds to the bad column.

But in terms of good, I'd say:
-I honestly believe the new railroad route and the new ROA scenery is an improvement
-Mobile ordering
-No more camping out for three hours before the first showing Fantasmic
-Cars Land and BVS
-Ghiradelli
-WOC
-The removal of the projection mist waterfall in the transition tunnel of Pirates and the restoration of original dialogue in that segment
-Jolly Holiday Bakery
-Red Rose Taverne (I wish it wasn't temporary, but the food's a huge upgrade over Pinocchio)
-The Tangled and BATB shows at Fantasy Faire (I have no context for Carnation, but I think for what it's worth the area is very nice for what it is)
-Mickey and the Magical Map
-Frozen (an improvement over Aladdin on a technical level, IMO; I know that's not a popular opinion)
-New Star Tours (another opinion I'm sure many won't agree with but I stand by)
-Soundsational (RIP)
-Paint the Night
-Trader Sam's

So I disagree that nothing good's come out of the last decade, even if it's not always an even mix of good and bad.
While I guess nothing is ever truly permanent at a Disney Park, Red Rose Tavern change over is no longer temporary.

Of those Autopia aside from the new paint job is a downgrade. I like most of the Matterhorn changes but them turning the old growl to a whisper and mixing it into his new growl is enough for me to say bring me the old growl back. I’ve realized Disneyland first and foremost is a very auditory experience for me.

Fine then. Just go ahead and kill my punchline.

So now I’m wondering about the scale of the figures in the new attraction. In Splash we had geese the size of people. Aside from Louis the alligator are we going to be playing spot the tiny frogs and fireflies as we zoom by on our logs? Being that human beings will appear on the attraction the animals will have to be sized to scale as they are in the movie. So will any of the old AAs even be present at all? Can’t have a Br’er sized Frog and a Tiana sized Frog together.

I have decided Im done with annual passes but I still have a dilemma. If they keep Splash Mountain around short term I need to go get a few last rides in. However, that really wouldn’t give them the message I want. If everyone who felt like me just didn’t go back they might get the message. If people decide to wait until they actually close Splash I think the message is watered down. However, I’m probably foolish for thinking they care at all, even if enough people did vote with their wallet.

I have no shame about going to the park as much as I can to ride Splash as much as I can. Like, going to Disneyland with the sole purpose of riding Splash as many times as possible.

Once it's closed? That's the end of me paying to go. If a friend offers to sign me in I'll still go to the park, it'll just end at Haunted Mansion to me. I also won't spend money on merchandise anymore, and will keep food purchases to Plaza Inn only.

I’m sure I’ll hear a lot of hell No’s but there is a lot at play here.

- The economic turmoil Disney find themselves in because of COVID 19

- Uncertainty in general of what the future holds for theme parks due to COVID 19

- The Negative Socio- Cultural impact from this decision.

So yeah weirder things have happened. I think they are ****ing off a lot of their fan base with this move. Also, it wouldn’t be the first time something was announced on a Blog and then canceled. Think 4th DLR Hotel. Lastly, the negative backlash worked with Mr. Toad. Granted, nobody finds Wind in the Willows racist... yet.
so your first few arguments are an easy no since the announcement was after this hit (had they announced it then covid hit and they had to close.. then maybe)
they are getting way more good publicity than bad publicity out of doing this.. and there are a lot of eyes on it
this is why I think it will happen as quickly as possible with no way its cancelled.

BUT that's the scary part.. they are looked at as being progressive.. and lots of great publicity..
What else can they change and get good publicity from...………….. (ominous music)
be afraid for cbj, potc, jc, tiki birds, port orleans riverside, small world, etc

When did the Mr. Toad protests happen? If they happened at DL, it's news to me. I don't recall hearing that Toad has ever been in serious danger in California, certainly not to the extent that there were protests.

There WERE protests to keep the ride at WDW from closing, but they didn't work.

True yet they don’t know fully know what the repercussions of my first few points will be yet.

Yes scary times but In a way they really can’t do much to me that would bother me anymore. I think I also may have said this after TOT (thinking they would never touch Disneyland classics). I’m numb as they already got rid of both my favorites rides at DL and DCA. Of course losing attractions like POTC or HM would be painful but I understand now that nothing is sacred and because of that and my disappointment I’ve decided distance myself and limit my attachment to the park.

It's amazing, truly, how Disney announces these controversial moves and continue to ignore the general opinion of the people who deeply care about their products.

while popular... im not sure tot (1994) or splash (1989) are classics.

Well, as Kim Irvine said in the constantly embarrassing Imagineering series on Disney+, we less blessed ones need to just trust them. They always do the right thing, after all. We're just not blessed enough to see it.
