Any chance this Splash Mountain retheme is cancelled?

Honestly I'd consider it a win if one of the 2 US versions remained.
And as I've said before, if they cancelled the Magic Kingdom version, many of the America Sings animatronics in the Disneyland version that don't already have clones in the Magic Kingdom version could be shipped to Florida and placed in the Magic Kingdom's Splash Mountain, assuming they don't reuse them for Disneyland's Princess and the Frog ride.

I don't think there is anyway they never open Splash Mountain again but I do agree that Splash Mountain at DL will probably be done first.

But this circumstance is different than other times they've retired attractions. They are taking out something "problematic." I'm beginning to doubt the park will ever reopen this year, but if and when it does sometime next year, it could very well be without Splash Mountain, Disneyland's racist underlying issues elderly at-risk victim of the pandemic.

I distinctly recall reading that Splash Mt would reopen with the parks. Looks like they've advanced to the next stage.
I do too because I knew I wanted to get me and the kids back for one more trip, and that made me feel like I had a chance. Now they took that part out of the article. Ugh. I feel like the APs will absolutely revolt if this turns out to be the case.

Yes, it was stated elsewhere that 'Splash Mountain' would be open when WDW's Magic Kingdom opens with the Park on July 15th.
I don't recall reading about Disneyland's specifically, but it was assumed to be once a decision is made in California.

There was also I recall statements ( unofficially ) made about Josh trying to insure the Attractions operated for some time before closure for the retheme to give Guests one more chance to ride.
So the impression has been up to this point that both Attractions would open when their corresponding Parks, but I remember for sure WDW's specially being noted.

I was imagining all the bloggers and eBay flippers showing up July 15th running down Main Street in a made dash to hit the gift shop at the exit of 'Splash Mountain' to score related merchandise.
Anything remotely connected to the Attraction is now going for crazy money on eBay currently.

Oh man, I just realized it'll probably be next to impossible to get anything Splash Mountain related at the parks even once they reopen.

And I'm almost positive the parks blog specifically said, initially, that it would reopen at both parks once both parks were reopened, but they edited that part of the article, so I can't confirm.

Wow and to think last year they sold me a Splash Mountain POP. Today they wouldn’t dream of reopening the park with it

If the website is any indication, looks like Magic Kingdom will possibly be going down after DL. Maybe to see how the retheme does at Land?

The statement that both would reopen was made in this D23 article: https://d23.com/exclusive-walt-disn...ng-splash-mountain-for-tiana-and-her-friends/

It was never a part of the DisneyParksBlog announcement.

Note that it does say "for now" so it give them wiggle room to change if they decide to do so.

Key excerpt:

D23: When can we expect to be “goin’ down the bayou” and will this alter any of the timelines for Avengers Campus or Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland? Or perhaps TRON at Magic Kingdom?

BW: We have separate project teams working on these efforts, but we are still evaluating project timelines based on the extended closures we’ve experienced due to COVID-19. While several projects, like Avengers Campus—at both Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris—are able to surge forward based on where we were in development, there are others that will be picked back up in stages—like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and TRON—and some that are longer-term that we will need more time to assess. We are working with our operations partners now to determine timing for this project to get under way. For now, we know that both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland parks will re-open with the existing Splash Mountain attraction.

I don't see this happening right away, but I have no 'insider' knowledge.
I'm basing that on my own personal feelings on what little I do know, observing what has been said about it, and the current economic situation within the Company and the world in general.

It has been stated by others that it will take some time before this retheme happens.
WDI may not even have a firm plan in place at this point, since the impression seems to be this was announced kinda out of the blue.
We shall see.

I'd like to see both versions of the Attractions operate until at least the end of this year.
WDW typically does a annual refurb in Janaury, and Disneyland's can be closed at any non-peak point.
I personally would rather they not close for a good length of time....

I wouldn't have read this article though, and I did read the parks blog article. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it never said that in the parks blog article.
